A very beautiful temple in the Neo-Gothic style in the agro-town of Sarya. Now the shrine belongs to the Orthodox parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. I definitely recommend visiting this temple when planning tourist trips.
The beautiful temple built in the Neo-Gothic style is uncharacteristic for the Orthodox Church. It has both a tragic and dramatic history of construction - the story of the love of the landowner Ignatius Lopatinsky for his wife Maria. The church houses an icon of Saints Peter and Fevronia of Murom with relics - which are revered as patrons of family and marriage. Unfortunately, it is not easy to visit the temple. The priest serves alone in 4 churches. Come - it's worth a lot.
In the middle of the 19th century, it was built as a church in a stunning Neo-Gothic style, but history had its own plans for this structure. When visiting, you experience dissonance from the fact that you see the church from the outside, and the interior of the church. An amazing structure of incredible beauty in the small village of Sarya is a representative of the Belarusian north - a rattling mixture of east and west.
An interesting place. The church is definitely the dominant one in a small but rather well-maintained village. The Chinese tourists we met there expressed genuine delight at the architecture of the church. She is really very beautiful and aspires to the sky. No less beautiful is the story of its construction by her husband in honor of his deceased beloved wife.
For the first time I saw an Orthodox church in the Gothic style. The location is not the most convenient, we went specifically to see the temple. We were satisfied, except that it is closed. Of course, I would really like to get inside. But in general, it is an interesting temple.
You drive, you drive ... on purpose, though, purposefully ... and here in the wilderness ... among small houses ... you see this ... something completely out of place ... a fabulous castle, in the Neo-Gothic style. I am delighted with this architecture) it was not possible to get inside, however, we were content with an external visual.

A beautiful church in the Neo-Gothic style, which is not typical for Orthodox churches. But this is not surprising, because the building was originally built in 1851 according to the idea of Ignatius Lopatinsky as a church in memory of his beloved wife Maria. The architecture of the temple is impressive, especially when you are looking for a unique object among ordinary buildings in an agro-town and approaching it by car unexpectedly, such a red brick landmark appears in front of you. It seems that the temple is rushing into the sky. I would like to consider all the details. There is a park and a suspension bridge near the temple. Otherwise, the agro-town of Sarya is no different from the villages of the Vitebsk region.

It's a very soulful place. I would say a kind of Taj Mahal of Belarus. An incomparable, unlike any other church in memory of mad love. Ignatius Lopatinsky married Maryse out of great and mutual love - a rarity at that time. The happiness was boundless but short-lived. Marysia died. To drown out Ignat's grief, he led to erect this miracle of neo-Gothic. The Day of Love, Family and fidelity dedicated to Saints Peter and Fevronia of Murom can be celebrated here on July 8. A monument to these saints is located next to the entrance to the temple.
The building is small, it was built like a church and looks very unusual in such a size. Well-maintained territory. If you want to get inside, you need to guess with time, especially on holidays.
The "Flaming Gothic" of Belarus.
Everything breathes love here ♥️
The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the village of Sarya was built in 1851-1857 by order of the owner of the estate Ignatius Lopatinsky in memory of his wife Maria, who died early.
After the Second World War, the building was used as a warehouse.
In the late 1980s, the temple was transferred to the club, which made a transverse overlap under the windows during the renovation. They were going to open a dance hall upstairs, and a bar downstairs.
Restoration work was completed only by 2013, and the interior of the temple was restored.
The most amazing event happened in 2012: a 96-year-old woman arrived in Sarya, who turned out to be... the 2nd wife of Stanislav Lopatinsky, the son of Ignatius! 😮😮. Her name was Danuta Lopatinskaya. How is this possible??? It turns out that 83-year-old Stanislav married 16-year-old Danuta, who got into a difficult life situation. The couple lived together for almost 20 more years.
On July 8, pilgrims from all over Belarus come to Sarya to celebrate the Day of Love, Family and Fidelity dedicated to Saints Peter and Fevronia of Murom. A monument to these saints is located next to the entrance to the temple.
Not far from the temple, a fragment of the Lopatinsky landscape Park has been preserved, in which ~30 tree species, including exotics (needs restoration).
It's a very beautiful place, the disadvantage is that you can't get inside, even the locals say they've never been there. There is a border guards checkpoint on the border of Sarya, Russians need passes.
The view is gorgeous, the heritage of Catholics is immediately visible. However, it is not always open to the public. The locals don't know how he works at all. Anyhow, in a word.
Very unusual architecture for a small village. Attention - closed on Sunday. We stopped by on the way to Minsk from St. Petersburg. I recommend it, but the road is bad, keep in mind.

At the entrance to the church you will see Peter and Fevronia of Murom - a symbol of love, family, loyalty. You can hold my hand and ask for help. Tour guide (local) Elena Ivanovna said that she would definitely be fulfilled. This land is saturated with love and loyalty, judging by the family history of the creator of this amazing temple.
The building is super. The man working in the Temple is extremely strange. If it was a Priest, then I would like to advise him to change his profession to a watchman.
I hope he's reading this. And if not, then before you come here, think about it, you need it at all)))
We were passing through on a weekday, it's a pity, but we didn't even get into the territory, let alone inside. The architecture is simply fascinating.
Very unusual architecture for an Orthodox church. It is a pity that the territory and the temple are closed during the absence of the priest. The locals give contacts of people who can help get into the temple.
It is a very beautiful church. Externally, the appearance looks like a Catholic church, but in fact it is an Orthodox parish. It's a pity we didn't get inside, the church was closed and the fence around it too. Therefore , they admired only externally .
A magnificent, unusual church. I advise you to see it. It was closed, they were not inside. The place is unusual, next to a pond with screaming frogs. The entrance is convenient.
The Catholic church (church) is made of red brick in the Neo-Gothic style ["an architectural style that appeared in England in the 18th century.
It is connected with the interest of the general public in the chivalric culture that prevailed in Western Europe from the 12th to the 16th centuries"], which "in the 19th century was transferred to the Orthodox denomination."
Let me be bombarded with dislikes, but sooner or later, with or without a referendum, the Catholic church will be returned to the Catholic denomination - "it's time to throw stones, and it's time to collect stones."
The church itself is amazing with an interesting history. The only thing that disappointed is the lock on the doors at the entrance to the territory ... (by hearsay / but maybe people are wrong/ there's a peculiar father there)
A very beautiful church, of an unusual appearance. You can only get inside during the service, but don't worry about that. From the outside, she is more beautiful than inside.
Very beautiful. That's just unclear and causes outrage. Why does the structure make it clear with all its appearance that it is a church, but it is a church. Yes, they also closed it. Put the building back in the right hands.
Beautiful architecture, for this the highest score, but for the fact that the Church was taken away and given to Orthodoxy and they live in someone else's building, and local pamarkoun began to go there, for lack of other options, justifying that there is only one faith, then it is off the scale somehow. They wouldn't let them sit like that in a mosque.
Nothing has changed from the fact that the church was taken away for far-fetched reasons and called a church. A beautiful creation that will definitely be returned one day to the "native harbor".
For tourists from the eastern direction:
Catholicism began to spread actively in Belarus since the end of the 14th century.
According to the Catholic Church itself, the denomination has about 1.4 million believers (15% of the total population).
A very beautiful and unusual building.
By the way, after viewing the photos, you expect some VERY large building, but in reality the church is small and elegant. It looks very nice.
A gorgeous temple, the attitude towards people below 0, I don't even want to remember. We drove 500 km to see.Everything is closed, they didn't even let us into the territory. We accidentally waited for the priest, said that he had no time to communicate with us, in the end, as it turned out, because we were in shorts
The place is interesting, but to go on purpose... I do not recommend it, we have arrived-the temple is closed. We walked around and that's it. Wait for an excuse, sometimes they spend holidays, then it's probably more interesting.
I advise you to visit. A rather majestic building of the XIX century. It was built in the Neo-Gothic style. There is currently an Orthodox church there. Therefore, you can only get inside when there is a service.
