We visit the Kolozha Church every time we arrive in Grodno. There are not many such buildings of the 12th century left. The structure is impressive. It is located on a hill not far from the shore of the Neman. From a distance it looks like a castle-type defensive structure. There are church shops inside, the prices are very affordable, they did not leave without parking for themselves or their loved ones.

The oldest functioning church on the territory of Belarus dates back to the 1180s. Part of the church collapsed due to a landslide in the middle of the 19th century, it was restored from wood. And this is not bad, you can immediately see where the real remains of the church are, and where the restored part is. The shore can be seen that it was very seriously strengthened so that the Neman would not wash away the soil.

I was very impressed, I wanted to walk around, touch the polished cobblestones embedded in the masonry, look at the Neman from the height of the hill... The Kalozha Church in Grodno as a symbol of the city in my perception. Unusually narrow brickwork in the same rhythm with layers of lime. Strange inclusions of magically polished stones and a soft pattern of Christian symbols. The perfect link to the landscape with a beautiful view of the dynamic Neman. The boldness of reconstructing the lost part Strengthens unity with eternal values. I would like the trading activity to be moved outside the temple into a separate pavilion.
