This was my first visit to the church. I was very impressed by the architecture of what might be one of the oldest, the most unique surviving structures of the era that I have seen in Belarus. I would recommend this to anyone who has even a slight interest in any sort of history.
This is a wonderful place! A must-visit! An ancient temple made of ancient stones, unusual for the eye. It is very warm and cozy. In the temple itself there is a miraculous icon of the Mother of God Kolozhskaya. The territory is green, lavender and other flowers grow. There is a retro speaker at the entrance. There is a bell tower under the fragrant apple tree. The temple has a great view of the river, the old castle and the tower!
The oldest temple in Belarus, built in 1140. It looks extremely unusual and impressive. It was renovated in 2018, is now operational, weddings and baptisms are held. There are excellent acoustics inside due to the unique arrangement of the walls. There is a bell tower next to the temple, which emits a charming bell ringing every 15 minutes. There is also a column with consecrated (and very tasty) water.
The place where the history of Grodno began. It is located on the high bank of the Neman River. Near the old and new castles, the embankment, the historical center. The church is small, cozy, lovingly restored. It reminded me of St. Dmitrievsky Cathedral of Vladimir, we see just the size and some kind of homely comfort.
Grodno is a wonderful discovery!
Cycling routes from 5-7 km to almost 50 km! For all tastes and any preparation!
Very interesting historical places!
The two-faced Borisoglebsky Church certainly deserves special attention!
The place is iconic, holy and very ancient. The area around is landscaped, stairs, descents, recreation areas with beautiful panoramic views of the Neman. And Kolozha itself is a pearl, a great legacy of our ancestors.
Very beautiful inside. From the outside, you can see that it is antique. It stands on the banks of the Neman River and, if you go around to the right of the entrance, you find yourself on a small platform with a beautiful view of the river. The church itself is located in a large beautiful park. But, which is very convenient, you can get almost to the church itself by car. And there is a small parking area. Away from the church, a staircase descends in a beautiful cascade to the river. And there is a belfry nearby.
A very interesting location for tourists. I recommend not to miss it when traveling to Grodno. The location is very picturesque, the architecture and history of the place are interesting. If you walk from the castles, then there is a steep staircase to the church, back you went around through the park and the city. It's better to go by car))
The church of the 12th century. It's old, salted. Located on the steep bank of the Neman River. It's a very beautiful place. There are beautiful views of the city and the river. Nearby is the Kalozhsky Park. A cozy place.
A very atmospheric and filled place, an ancient church with a wonderful view of the Neman. There is a beautiful park around. There is a water column nearby, be sure to wash your face. When visiting Grodno, take the time to get here.
A beautifully restored church that conveys the beauty and flavor of this ancient city! It is located on the banks of the Neman River, which creates a special view! Thanks for saving the story!
An ancient church, the oldest in Grodno! It is located in a very picturesque place- on a hill, overlooking the Neman and the old castle! The territory is well maintained, friendly attendants, happy to answer all questions!
High-quality reconstruction of the church. Nicely. The preserved walls emphasize their antiquity. It is open until 20:30. And it is also important, there is a water column next to it, to get drunk in the heat and take it with you. The view of the river and the surrounding area (the castle) is amazing.
The ancient church in the park is located opposite the Old Castle, across the river. You can walk from there, but the uphill climb is decent. There are often excursions inside, historical facts and features of the building are told (special jars for acoustics are embedded in the walls). The view from the observation deck nearby is very beautiful.
The most beautiful and sincere place in Grodno. A very unusual church. The area around is well maintained. There is a holy water column. There is a church shop inside.
A place with incredible energy! I was walking towards her from the river, I was very impressed by the ascent along the rocky path, it was so great that she was left, it was as if I had fallen into the past. I went at 19h. just to look outside, because it was written on the website that it works until 18:00, and what was my joy when it turned out that it was open there! (In fact, the opening time is until 20:30) the indescribable atmosphere inside, dark ancient icons, a place of power for believers is unequivocal!
It's impressive. This is the westernmost of the preserved temples of ancient Russia. The exact date of construction has not been established, presumably it was built in the 1180s. There are older churches, but they are to the east. The masonry is interesting, it seems to me that it is made of plinth, i.e. flat brick. After the landslide, half of the church and the roof collapsed, restored in wood, unusually. I've heard a lot about voice boxes (vessels in the walls to improve acoustics), but I've seen so many of them clearly for the first time. It is mandatory to visit Grodno, this is our story.
An ancient church in the city center. There is a sense of power and history. In such a place, you want to stay in peace and quiet, and then enjoy a walk in the park. I recommend
The atmospheric place breathes antiquity. A cozy courtyard where you can relax in the shade of ancient trees, plus a gorgeous view from the mountain! A must-visit.
An interesting church, an old one. The story can be read on the Internet, especially about how one day the shore and one wall of the structure collapsed. Therefore, you can see the intertwining of times both inside and outside. It is located near the Old Castle, you need to go down the stairs from it and turn right. Walk along the embankment and climb to the church along a very picturesque stone path, very steep. But you can also go through the park in a straight line from the other side.
A very ancient church. A place of power. It is well restored. It is mandatory to visit. Excellent chime at the small automatic bell tower. Services are often held.
I don't even know how to say it. There is no sense of God's Spirit there, rather a "marketplace" on a Christian theme. But the place is gorgeous! A must-visit, magnificent views of the Neman. Of course, it's like going to a museum, but going to a temple separately!
Beautiful, well-groomed and unusual church. There is a belfry in 2024 nearby. Services are being held. One of the oldest in Belarus. It's great that something else has been preserved.
A beautiful place and a charming small church, located 15-20 minutes from the center. The church is considered the oldest in Grodno. Restoration is on the level. Worth a visit
An interesting story, beautiful inside and out, a review near the church on the Neman, everything is decent, a lot of excursions, but it does not interfere. I would also go there, I recommend you to visit
A very significant place. Above the Neman. The view is the most beautiful at any time of the year. It is always open, even if it is closed, we got to the funeral service, then you can walk around the territory to see, guides often tell tourists, and no one objects to others listening. There is a stall/tent with souvenirs on site. I always buy gingerbread, but the local bakery produces the most delicious ones. There is a water column. There is a parking lot for vehicles
A beautiful church.
An interesting design solution for the facade, there are old stones and wood. This solution looks great.
There is an observation deck on the left with a view of the river.
The most ancient church of Grodno and the surrounding area, it feels like I have touched the history ... a gorgeous view of the Neman, I recommend to all Orthodox (and not only) visiting Grodno to visit.
One of the oldest Orthodox churches in Russia and the oldest Orthodox Church in Belarus, it is very interesting to look at both the architectural monument and the work of restorers.
The church of the 12th century, unusual architecture, a beautiful place on the banks of the Neman River in Kolozhsky Park. The main songwriter Vladimir Malyavin made a great contribution to the return of ancient icons.
An amazing, very old church with a complicated history and unusual architecture. It is located in a very beautiful place on the high bank of the Neman River.
A very interesting place with its rich history! Thanks to the authorities for restoring it after the landslide!
On the other side, an interesting stone staircase down to the embankment is also a kind of attraction. I recommend you to visit.
An impressive place, a must-visit...go up to the church from the embankment by the stairs, and of course go back down, the feeling is indescribable! The water from the pump, which is next to the entrance to the territory, is simply magical!!!
My very, very favorite temple! An incredible feeling of peace inside and out! There are a lot of interesting things inside, starting from the Vasnetsov mosaic and ending with a secret passage and a column in the floor. And an incredibly interesting Instagram, where there is a lot of interesting information!
It's a very interesting place. We were lucky and got caught between excursions. There was a woman inside (unfortunately they didn't ask for her name), from whom we bought candles. She was happy to tell us the history of the church, the stages of its restoration and a little about the icons. In the same way about the events in which these icons appeared. Thanks!!! It was very interesting. You definitely need to go there
The church impresses with its unusual appearance. A combination of brick and wood.... It feels like the vulgar and the real have merged. On the bricks you can find the seals of the craftsmen who built the building. There is a special atmosphere inside, with a great history.
There is an opportunity to see and touch the history of the XIII century. You can read a lot of different facts on the Internet or listen to the guide. If you are getting to know Grodno, then this landmark should be the first on the list.
A place unique in its nature. And how beautiful the bells sound there...
Presumably, the church was built in the XII century, on the high bank of the Neman. As a result of landslides, it repeatedly collapsed, so it was only half preserved. The church has a unique facade decoration — the unpainted walls are decorated with inserts of polished colored boulders and glazed ceramic tiles. The walls are double, numerous voice jugs are embedded in the inner layer between the bricks, giving the room special acoustic properties. It is definitely worth seeing this unusual church, especially since it is located in a very beautiful place.
An atmospheric hyperistorical place. When visiting Grodno, a visit is mandatory. Even just to touch the stones that were laid by people more than 1000 years ago. For the true Orthodox, it is the holy Grail.
You can't tell right away that this is a church. Many relics have been preserved inside the church. For example, the rest of the old floor is under protective glass. There are a lot of old icons. It's beautiful inside. The old stone masonry with patterns remains outside. It's good that they saved it and did not transfer it to a new one. Except for one side, but it must have completely collapsed there.
I was impressed with my appearance both externally and internally. On the banks of the Neman! The beauty is extraordinary... plus, I was also godfather to my brother's son there. Everything is very sincere and, somehow, kind and homely....
An unusually beautiful place. To get here, they climbed a path uphill over rocks, and then it turned out that there was another way... A beautiful church. One wall seems to consist of different halves: antiquity and modernity. There is a water bottle next to it. The separately fenced bells were also impressive.
I liked her the most! a staircase hidden in bushes made of stones, you climb up from the coast and somehow it feels good near this temple. I am an atheist and I am very "sober" about religion and everything related to it. But I felt free on this hill near the temple
A very pleasant ancient church of the 11th-12th century, the outside is lined with stone on top of brick, inside there are beautiful vaults, a pleasant atmosphere. And the view from above is beautiful.
This is truly a masterpiece of the 12th century Orthodox Church. The pagan captain was built on the site and is made of stones of this sanctuary. It stands on the high bank of the Neman River.Even more amazing is what stands on the lands of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
It's a very atmospheric place.
It is a pity that it has not been preserved completely in its original condition.
Inside the church itself, you just want to look at every corner over and over again.
It is very interesting that the Kolozhskaya Church is one of the oldest preserved churches of Ancient Russia, a unique monument of Black Russian architecture
A very interesting building from a historical point of view. Cobblestones in the walls and inlaid in the shape of crosses, jugs in the inner walls look impressive. If you want to visit without a guide, I advise you to prepare in advance: many details are not obvious. The "Orthodox store" inside spoils the impression a little. But where is the church without it?
The area around is well maintained and cleaned. Everything looks very nice.
