This place is simply amazing and looks like paradise. It's definitely worth a visit. There is an excellent diving school in this place, where you can get an excellent diving experience. This place is very cool.
We stayed with my husband at this hotel at the end of April for 4 nights. Let's start with the pros:
1. Definitely one of the most beautiful beaches! White sand, azure sea, and what sunsets are here.... It's worth spending an evening here for them at least once! At the same time, the entry into the sea is very comfortable, almost after a couple of meters it is already deep, there is no such warm bath, which is available in many bays of Phuket. The sea and the beach are clean, despite the crowds of tourists during the day.
2. The territory of the hotel is small, but quite atmospheric: a lot of greenery (despite the fact that watering is carried out naturally), flowers, live fauna are also available :)) a huge variety of butterflies, with which every guest is not lazy to take pictures. Newts, lizards, of course monitor lizards)) by the way, there are snakes, so they ask you not to shy away from the bushes …
There are corals near the hotel, you can take a dive. Masks are provided free of charge at the hotel's sports center. There are also corals on other beaches of the island. You can and should get there yourself (there is a free shuttle service from the hotel every 2 hours). We first went on a kind of snorkeling tour around the island, thinking that we would be taken to the island's hard-to-reach coral reefs. In fact, we were taken to the same beach through which the arrival to the island is carried out , where there is a free shuttle service . They swam there with masks. The second point is another beach with a reef , which can also be reached by yourself. After we rode around the island by boat (it's 15 minutes) and for all this we gave 3 thousand baht for two ... well, about the value policy will be lower.
3. Villas: a little tired, of course. They are certainly clean (the cleaning is good), everything works, but I think in a couple of years, if the hotel does not want to lose its well-off capricious clientele, then the fund needs to be overhauled. As it was, we were very pleased with the choice of the villa: we took a grand with partial sea views. Next to the beach there is a view of the sea, and an evening sunset, and there are no crowds of people as there are at the first line. The villa itself is spacious, a beautiful terrace with a sofa, there is a summer shower.
Among the disadvantages: there are few places / closets for things.
Now about the cons:
1. Food: for breakfast, of course, you will not stay hungry, but! The assortment is more Asian. Apart from eggs, cheese and ham, the European has nothing else to choose. A limited selection of fruits (for example, mangoes were not given at all, some tangerines, bananas, apples, a little dragon fruit, watermelon and hard melon - and this is Tai!!! The hotel is 5 stars), the juices are ordinary, there were no yoghurts and other usual assortment for the five ... well, yes, sparkling wine was poured, but we are not lovers of drinking in the morning. The main restaurant itself, where breakfast was held, looks more like a canteen: some kind of basement , no tablecloths, old dishes, not very good smell ... they also served outside, but because of the heat it was not always comfortable to have breakfast there.
2. Restaurants: let's start with the fact that the prices in hotel restaurants are like in good Moscow establishments, i.e. dinner with a glass of wine for two is at least 2 thousand baht (we left an average check of 3-4 thousand baht).
On the first evening, we fell for the grilled seafood platter, which cost more than 3 thousand baht (to walk like that). We were very disappointed with what we got in the end: over-dried shrimp , strange tasteless fish and small crabs …
Seeing such prices, you expect something decent and refined to taste. As a result, everything we tried in the hotel's restaurants was not up to the quality of cooking.
As a result, we began to go to lunch at the cafe, which is located on the right on the beach : the prices are twice lower than the hotel, but very tasty and large portions. And in the evening we tried not to take anything complicated.
3. Pricing policy: starting with prices in bars / restaurants and ending with prices for excursions and activities 3-4 times higher than average prices in Phuket. 2 times higher than the prices of a good five. For comparison : the cost of a massage at the Racha spa for 1 hour is about 3 thousand baht, the same massage costs 1.4 thousand baht in Phuket at Club Med (we rested in it later), 650 Baht in the massage parlor.
A separate story of how the price is formed : you can see the price , and 10% for the service and 7% tax are added to it .
Finally :
Despite the disadvantages, we liked the place and the hotel. Very atmospheric and romantic!
The hotel staff is very attentive and tries to help you with everything.
For those who are going to this hotel and want to save a little money, we recommend taking a basket of fruits and a couple of bottles of wine with you for a romantic evening at sunset, going to lunch in a cafe to the right of the beach, forget about the spa and additional excursions to Phuket, take a stroll on all the beaches of the island, go hiking in the bay (they are given free of charge at the box office).
One of the best places to visit from Phuket. There are several hotels/resorts on the island, in this case we are talking about The Racha. There is no point in going with a one-day tour, the hotel territory is closed for "guests of the island". There are other beaches, but one of them is on the territory of another hotel, and the second is for divers, without an organization.
The organization is on top. The hotel has its own lounge on Chalong. On it, you select the smells that will be in the room, put an application through which you can communicate / order / receive notifications. The phone in the room is also working. Then there is a free speedboat transfer from the lounge to the destination, about 35 minutes.
They meet, pick up suitcases, cool napkins and drinks.
Attention: on speedboats, suitcases are thrown into a pile, captains carry pinocchio. It can beat and throw decently on the wave, wrap it with a film or a cover. If the suitcase is cracked, you will probably break it.
The hotel itself is represented by bungalows of varying degrees of "luhari". The most expensive story is "The Lighthouse".
The communal infinity pool stops refreshing in the heat. The staff treats you with fruits and water.
The bungalows are far enough apart from each other to give the impression of privacy. But I do not recommend a bungalow on the 1st line next to the path, where people walk past the beach and look into the windows. There is an aroma lamp in the room with the previously selected fragrance. The staff periodically brings postcards and figurines. The bungalows are all specific. Wooden shutters are used as blackout curtains. From the unusual - there is a summer shower in addition to the standard one. Wi-Fi was often not pleasant, but it was not a problem. Overall, the infrastructure rating is excellent. Well-maintained territory. Inconspicuous staff.
Breakfasts: killer feature - sparkling wine in the morning. Omelet table with a good choice (Benedict with salmon and avocado - decent, delicious). Juices from the bag. As a result, you will not go hungry.
Lunch and dinner: there are 3 restaurants on site. The most lively is Thai, with sea view, although nothing is visible in the evening. I specially took only Thai dishes. Good serving, very tasty, at a high level. There was already something to compare it with. Take Thai dishes and maybe reconsider the "how it should be" view. The service is excellent. The price tag is Moscow.
Alternative: Cafe "on the rocks". I do not recommend it. A little cheaper, I didn't like the food, I didn't finish it. Later, I personally saw how they sweep the tables with floor brooms when cleaning after closing the establishment. Alcohol is not sold in this cafe. Through the same cafe there is a passage to the point where the sunset is visible.
Activities: activities from the hotel-excursions. I didn't use it. I walked around the island. There is another beach from the hotel, which is also not bad, there is also a cafe on the shore. On the way to it you will find a store that sells alcohol and household items. In general, the recommendation is to stock up before the trip, if there is a task to save money.
Beach: gentle entrance, fine white sand. The floating pier is upsetting, the abundance of speedboats up to 16h (then most leave and the beach becomes empty). In general, the beach was not pleased with the abundance of boats and buoys and the paddock. The alternative beach is more interesting. In the hotel's advertisement, the beach does not reflect reality.
Snorkeling. On the left and right banks by the stones, interesting, diverse, all this is next to the shore, you do not need to take a boat. Equipment rental from the hotel is free.
Overall impression: I really liked it. I recommend it to everyone.
