We were here from March 15 to March 24, 2025. For an unpretentious tourist, a good hotel is enough. Cleaning every day, linen and towels are changed regularly. Excellent breakfasts. Ocean view, and I'll tell you this is probably a minus, it's very noisy, there's a constant rumble. You probably won't be able to swim in the ocean at this time, I recommend not trying (it's very painful and dangerous), there is a solution of sand and sea water near the shore, and a little further there are huge waves that decrease or increase dramatically. Therefore, we went to Unawatuna to Banana beach for swimming, there are many normal paid beaches nearby, just check the cost of the sunbed in advance if it is not written in Russian!!!, you may be very upset when you leave. The road is no more than 15 minutes, you can take a bus (100 rupees per person), you can take a tuk-tuk (as you agree from 1000 to 1500 rupees, bargain). You can eat in the cafe nearby if you leave the hotel on the right for about three minutes. We also visited the Mantra cafe, which is further away near the golf club (see Maps map), 20 minutes on foot. There are many fruit stalls in the direction of Habaraduwa.
There are also many different cafes and restaurants in Unawatuna, prices are about the same, but fruits are even a little cheaper.
Escorts: On the beach, people introduce themselves from Sisi Kumar, and Sumi usually greets them at the exit from the hotel. Two competing companies are throwing mud at each other. They speak Russian, and everyone has their own interests in taking you to a cafe with friends, to a fruit stand with a friend, or on an excursion, which slightly increases your costs. There are contacts of these comrades. Sumi seemed a little simpler to us. When buying fruits in tents, be careful, they can cheat.
Overall, I really liked it.
We recently visited Sri Lanka and stayed at this Hotel. A mid-level hotel, at u+. It's old and not very clean. The beach is very beautiful, there are few people because the waves are strong. Shops and stalls are within walking distance. There are no Russian-speaking staff at the Hotel, communication is through a translator, but it is also difficult to communicate with Sri Lankans in English. The Russian-speaking Misha helps out, this guy helps out in everything:an excellent guide will help and organize the tour, he has his own tua-tuk. On the beach, you can ask the locals for his phone number, Misha will drive up and you can discuss all issues with him. I would like to advise you to bring Russian chocolate, cigarettes, vodka and buckwheat. There are no animators and no entertainment in the hotel, if you need the sun and the ocean, you are welcome, the price corresponds to the quality of service. The room is cleaned daily. We took a bag with breakfast, that's enough. You can walk along the beach to the turtles, the journey time is 12 minutes on foot, there is a wonderful cafe nearby with a menu in Russian, the food is fresh, I recommend fish, shrimp and curry. Have a great holiday, everyone.
We stayed at the hotel from 02/23/2025 to 03/05/2025. I liked everything very much. The beach was incomparable, the ocean was warm, and the big waves did not interfere with swimming. The hotel staff was polite, the room was cleaned every day, delicious breakfasts, wonderful view of the ocean from the room. Walking along the beach is a pleasure. There are no complaints. Throughout the rest, we used the services of a tuk tuk driver, whose name is Adiz. A very decent and responsible person who can be trusted, helped us with everything, money exchange, shopping trips, excursions, to the beach. I recommend you as a very reliable person.
