The castle is beautiful, but not impressive. We enjoyed watching the exhibitions, strolled through the galleries and halls.
I really liked the restored ovens, I was delighted with their variety and shapes. The bathing place was very impressive - I have not seen this anywhere else. The restored interiors are very beautiful.
The halls with the exhibition of weapons interested men, I enjoyed fine art and icon painting with pleasure.
Each
The surrounding area is clean, partially under construction.
For lovers of antiquity and history, for children and their parents - in general, a cool place. My favorite cashier at the entrance, who speaks Belarusian with everyone, is very colorful and memorable at once (Easter egg from a girl with a Kazan purse) . It's a little thing at the entrance. Good restoration. I advise you to take a tour, because you will learn a lot of information about what and why is decorated in the castle, what was built / destroyed and when, from the guide.
If you are walking with young children, keep in mind that the passages of the stairs are quite narrow, spiral-shaped and can scare them (we met a small visitor on the way down, who was very afraid of this).
And one more thing: start the inspection immediately from the observation deck and go down. I have been to the castle for the 2nd time and this hint from the city guide saved me strength during the day.
If you are in Grodno, be sure to visit the Old Castle, which is built on a hill. The exposition itself inside the castle is small, but quite interesting. Go up to the observation deck, which offers a magnificent view of the Neman, walk over the bridge, through the ravine. Do not miss the moment to go down to the river and walk along the embankment. The views of the castle and its surroundings will not leave you indifferent. If you have a little more time than I do, take a walk around the territory of the New Castle, which is located nearby.
A wonderful place, a must-visit. I will not retell the story- the kings loved this place, and you will like it too. The restored castle has a good museum, chain mail, sabers, pieces of decor found during research, there is something to see. From the walls of the castle, the views of the Neman river are excellent. Parts of the interior were recreated, local builders did a good job. I enjoyed admiring the castle from afar - I highly recommend the angles from the bridge and from the embankment. Near Kolozhska church, don't miss it either. There is a toilet, there were no problems with parking on weekends in the summer. The city center with a cafe is literally nearby. Have a nice visit!
I have a rule: on excursions and vacations, go only to new places (the world is huge, I want to see as much as possible) and without prior preparation along the route, the history of interesting places (get impressions from scratch).
This September, I finally went to Belarus. What I knew about it: a friendly country, friendly people, beautiful and spacious Minsk, wonderful sanatoriums. Everything.
I chose a route through the western part of the country: Grodno, Belovezhskaya Pushcha, Brest. And I couldn't believe that in Grodno such a century-old story would open up in front of me, when both the second and third visits would not be enough to feel it in the buildings, streets, where the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, and the Soviet Union left indelible traces.
And Belovezhskaya Pushcha! Not just a big forest with bison (as I imagined), but endless kilometers of forest wealth and a wide variety of animals.
And here is Brest. I am ashamed to admit, but I did not know that there is the city of Brest, beautiful and with its most interesting history, and the Brest fortress, which everyone knows about as a symbol of the courage of the Soviet people.
And that's what not only amazed me, but delighted me - these are hundreds of kilometers of cleaned, well-groomed fields, completely ready for the new season.
It has been decided, I am temporarily violating my rule and in the summer I will go to Belarus again on the same route, but already well prepared.
If you come to Grodno, the Old Castle is a must-visit. However, so is the new one. The place is very beautiful. The majestic castle hill above the Neman, near Kolozhsky Park, you can walk around the castle and in the park. Both day and night, beautiful views of the city and the river open from the castle hill. There are options to purchase a walking tour and learn a lot of new and interesting things. It's definitely worth it.
I strongly recommend visiting!
If you want to get in touch with history, be sure to visit the Old Castle. An interesting place. Halls, corridors, flights - everything immerses in the atmosphere of ancient times. In each hall, the expositions are accompanied by electronic displays with historical information and illustrations. The expositions are thoughtful and informative. At the very top of the castle there is a wonderful view of the city.
Entrance ticket for adults - 10 rubles.
I liked it more than the New Castle.
The old castle (although it's not that old) certainly impressed. Both externally and expositions , the decoration inside the castle. But I especially liked it on the observation deck. The views are fascinating! A great place for photo shoots and just keepsake photos. The staff is very friendly, ready to help and explain the exhibits. I recommend going on a guided tour!
A wonderful attraction! I liked. It's beautiful and interesting. The observation deck is beautiful, with views of the city from all sides. The views are beautiful. The view of the river opens well. I recommend you to visit. It is necessary to come there in the first hours after opening, there are not so many people and not a crowd.
The main attraction of Grodno.
I liked everything. There is an exhibition on each floor. There are many interactive screens. There are toilets and a souvenir shop. A very cute dog Kuzya met me at the entrance.
I really hope that the territory behind the fence will be put in order soon.
A very beautiful old castle! Its location on a high, steep hill is impressive! The interior is very beautiful, although there is a lot of modern decoration. At the same time, if you get inside, be sure to go through all the rooms, do not be lazy to climb higher! It's worth it! Moreover, there is an exit to the roof of the castle, which offers a magnificent view of the city!
An excellent museum, even though most of the buildings are new. Multimedia guides (touch screens with information) are very intelligently made. The interiors are amazing! Plus all sorts of long corridors, stairs. And an observation deck with a magnificent view of the Neman! In general, I recommend it. It will take 1.5-2 hours to inspect the entire museum.
A wonderful place, a magnificent view of the city opens from the hill, I really liked the Castle itself, it is very interesting inside, so clean, qualitatively restored, plus modern technologies added, very polite staff. An interesting story.
A very beautiful and majestic castle, an interesting museum, interactive exhibitions. You can take a guided tour. Tickets are not expensive, they sell many different souvenirs.
The composition is really worthy, with a wide variety of exhibits
A great place, interesting architecture, a good collection of antiques, it is advisable to visit the new castle, in general it is a very interesting place, you can walk around the castle, especially the beautiful view from the bridge opens.
A very beautiful place, a must-visit. Gorgeous expositions, you feel a touch of the rich history of Belarus. I advise you to climb the tower, there is an amazing view of the city. The museum staff are attentive and always ready to help.
A wonderful combination of themes and exhibits.
Unfortunately, team tours are not organized, there are a lot of tourists, it would be great for 10-15 people with a guide.
The staff offers to get acquainted with the information in the interactive counters. But ...
there is a lot of information, if 2 people are reading, the rest in the hall are just "walking".
Audio guides are not provided, it is a pity, this service is very appropriate in such a museum.
There is no coffee.
There is no water
Complete delight. Spare no money and take a guided tour. Interesting, unusual, gorgeous interactive expositions. For history buffs, it's just gorgeous. A beautiful place where everyone should visit.
It is a very beautiful place, of course everything has been restored, but for the first time I walked up the spiral staircase, saw an extraordinary apartment, especially impressed by the coffered ceiling in the royal bath and the alabaster room. It's a pity that the second part of the castle is under restoration, it would be very interesting to see. But what we saw was enough for us, and the children are generally delighted.
A beautiful old castle, a historical place, a witness to many events from the medieval history of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Renovated, inside there is a thoughtful interactive exposition dedicated to the history of Grodno in the context of Eastern European history of the 14th and 18th centuries. Beautiful views from the observation deck.
I was pleasantly surprised by the old castle. It has preserved the atmosphere of those years and the old town very well. It was very interesting to get into the history of the castle and feel the European culture. Friendly staff.
The old castle impresses with its impressive appearance! You understand that the area was not chosen for him by chance — the strategic location only adds to his mystery. 🗺️
Although the exposition at the exhibition may seem quite standard and similar to other castles, the castle itself is worth a visit. Considering the price tag of the ticket, I would definitely recommend not to miss this opportunity! This is a wonderful place where history is felt at every step
It's a very beautiful place. The views of the Neman from the observation deck are simply mesmerizing. There are many expositions inside the castle, including interactive ones. The staff is responsive and friendly!
Be sure to go to the museum if you have time!
A very interesting and modern museum! Yes, everything has been restored, but it was done with a soul and very high quality. The atmosphere is present!) As for me, it is not inferior to similar castle museums in neighboring Poland and Slovakia. Well, the views from the observation deck are just super!
A magnificent exposition, wonderful administrators of the halls - if you ask a question about the castle, they will definitely help you find information, put on an interactive video. My 10-year-old child and I were delighted. Thank you so much for such a wonderful preservation and restoration of history!
Beautiful, simple, but tasteful, without pretentiousness. You immerse yourself and get into the historical atmosphere. Very important points-there are toilets and a souvenir shop, you can even buy paintings.
There were excursions on 10.10.2024 around the Old Castle, accompanied by an incredible guide Lyudmila. We had a very interesting, informative, and most importantly dynamic time. Even after a sightseeing tour of the city, we learned a lot of new things. Thanks to Lyudmila, we will definitely come back in 5 years.
Grodno is a magnificent city, and the old castle is even more beautiful. Very impressive. The view from above is breathtaking. You immerse yourself in those times completely. Clean, beautiful, dignified
Interesting, informative. But if possible, book a guided tour. I have been convinced many times that if a guide loves his job, then you always want to visit this museum again. I was lucky in the World, and in Nesvizh, and in Novogrudok at Mickiewicz
I was delighted with this castle, as well as other sights of Grodno; in general, it was an incredible experience to see a real royal castle. Beautiful view from the observation deck. In short, I would love to come back here
Gorgeous views open near the castle and from the observation deck!
There are signs at every step, and there is an employee in every room. Very interesting expositions. Please note there are interactive cabinets with exhibits. Coins are minted near the castle😊
It is very beautiful and interesting. Inside the castle there is an exhibition of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania during the Livonian War. I was impressed by the scale of the king's bath). The children all went to examine the skins of the bear and wolf in the bedrooms. Each of the tourists found something interesting
The old "royal castle" on the high bank of the Neman River in Grodno. such a typical European castle. Very beautiful views of the city and the river. The interiors are especially carved on the ceiling in the royal chapel. It is mandatory to visit.
Very cool! Part of it has already been restored, you can go up to the observation deck. Cool photos are guaranteed! but there are not very many exhibits. The new castle is more interesting for the exposition.
We came with a group to practice, we really liked this place, the rooms were clingy with their interior, the tour was interesting and the guide himself brought the information perfectly
A very beautiful view opens from above on the "observation deck" I advise history lovers to visit
The exposition in the castle is small, but in general it is interesting and valuable that they try to preserve and restore historical sites and values. The castle is a landmark place in Grodno and it definitely needs to be visited!
A very beautiful and atmospheric place! Near the historical center of Grodno ...
And if you manage to get on an organized tour of the old castle, I guarantee a lot of impressions!!!!
I advise everyone to visit!
The overall impression of the visit is pleasant. But there are no more than three really cool and beautiful rooms. A beautiful observation deck on the roof of the castle. Unfortunately, there are many closed doors intended for staff. I hope that in the future there will be new expositions of the past behind them. I will really look forward to restoring the castle completely!
We really liked the castle. If you will be in Grodno, I definitely recommend you to visit.
Cool expositions, a very beautiful view from the observation deck. It 's just beautiful 😍
It is very beautiful and atmospheric, beautiful view, remained a long time ago. There is a souvenir shop and coins are minted nearby, a great option for a gift!
It's a beautiful castle, and the view from it is stunning, especially in the late afternoon. There are long queues at the ticket office on weekends. There is a family ticket, which is very convenient. Undoubtedly, it is worth visiting there and seeing everything with your own eyes.
There was always no way to be inside and on the observation deck! A very beautiful and interesting castle! A beautiful viewing room with a lot of interactive and information screens. It is interesting for both adults and children!
This is a place that every tourist must visit. Wonderful expositions, full immersion in the era. A wonderful observation deck with a magnificent view of the city.
A very beautiful place! Be sure to go on a sightseeing tour - you will not regret it. There is an exit to the upper platform. And if you also catch the sunset, then there is a platform between the new and old castle from which incredible views come off.
The castle has been well restored, but the disadvantage is that there are very few historically reliable features left in it, some of the halls are pure fantasy of the reenactors, who relied on how the rooms of the nobility were decorated in that era. I would prefer more authenticity and sleekness for tourists. It is good that some halls are equipped with projectors showing the stages of development of the castle.
The castle is not large, only a part, the tower, the chapel, has been restored. The inspection took about 1.5 hours. The tour is interesting, there are interactive exhibits, which helps a lot with self-inspection. The view from the observation deck of the city is beautiful. I really liked it.
A beautiful ancient castle on a hill in the center of the city with a beautiful view of the Neman River. Unfortunately, the castle was damaged during the war, but it was restored - in some places an ancient tab was specially left. There is a museum in the castle, which contains various historical artifacts of this land. Admission - 10 rubles (Belarus) as of 2024.
Grodno is the most beautiful city in Belarus. The old castle is beautiful, although not huge in size, but it deserves attention. Everything is thought out, there are toilets for visitors, there is a souvenir shop. Interesting display cases with LCD touch screens that help you get the necessary information. I boldly recommend you to visit.
It is wonderful that the castle is being restored. Of course, this is a new model, but the tiles on the stoves are magnificent, the view from the observation deck is charming, there is a lot of interesting historical data
