The hotel is simple, but with a soul. 2 excellent beaches: one for children, shallow, there are almost no waves, the second is deeper, there are waves. Nutrition-in general, there is something to eat: chicken, pork, grilled fish, delicious cheese, sometimes with mold, local ham, not enough fruits and not very on their own. There are cockroaches in the restaurant (we didn't see much during our visit, before that there were some). Upon arrival, they are greeted with our flag and dancing. Delicious coffee in the lobby bar, cocktails do not skimp on alcohol, Spanish wine, white and red, of normal quality. The room overlooked the pool, you can see the ocean, they didn't pay anything extra. There was always water. They enjoy gifts for children. Pleasant Cuban music is constantly playing. They entertain you with bingo and dancing. Sometimes people come to the restaurant and play the muses.They play instruments and sing. Opposite the hotel, flamingos live on the lake, you can look at them in the morning and evening.
It takes 10-15 minutes to drive from the airport to the hotel. Upon arrival, the hotel staff greets us with songs and dances and cocktails. 17 people settled in Sol from the bus with us, they were very quickly accepted and settled. The room had a view of the garden, followed immediately by the turquoise ocean. I saw small ants on the table in the room several times, but they did not scare us, so we did not annoy each other, perhaps the previous guests carried food to the room and they were waiting for food from us. Towels in the room and bed linen were changed daily, and of course we always thanked and left 1$.
Nutrition: for breakfast, they always made a great smoothie with fresh fruits, omelets, banana pancakes, there was always guava and mango juice. Fruits on the tables: guava, pineapples, watermelons, oranges, bananas, papaya. Side dishes: beans, cauliflower, baked pumpkin and rice in various variations. For fresh vegetables: only cucumbers and sliced pumpkin. Main dishes: fish baked and grilled, chicken baked and grilled, pork and beef also in two versions: stewed and grilled. Three times during the vacation there was stewed lamb (just bombically delicious) and 5 times seafood (mussels /squid / moluski). Even for lunch and dinner, delicious pasta was always cooked right in front of you among the main dishes!
About the bar: alcohol is normal - my husband did not suffer from headaches in the morning from it. They make delicious non-alcoholic cocktails and aromatic coffee in different variations.
80% of the staff are happy to please you even without tips, they were the ones who wanted to give you the most.
On the way from the room to the ocean, the gardeners will definitely greet you, offer you a coconut or weave a hat, and when they saw that my husband was baking in the sun, they brought freshly cut scarlet.
The ocean and the beach are gorgeous. But they did not let us into the ocean for three days, it was violent, but we went swimming behind a rock in shallow water, where the waves did not reach the shore.
We found ourselves a cheerful multinational company and did not get bored.
The equipment of the territory, by the way, is multifunctional, swimming pools for adults and children, swings, hammocks, a nightclub, a theater, a children's club, ball fields, height chess. The Cubans taught the eldest son to play billiards coolly.
In general, we were satisfied.
I forgot to write about animation: The animators are great, they constantly told me what where when and invited me to play / dance.
We are currently relaxing at the SOL Cayo coco hotel. I must say right away, this is not our first time in Cuba, for three years in a row we fly to Cuba every February or March! We always have children with us, the children on this trip are 8 and 6 years old! Pros: close enough to the airport, a gorgeous beach with a wide coastline, the rooms are good enough, not shabby with the usual renovation! There are no advantages to this! CONS: THERE are A LOT of COCKROACHES, the food is quite meager, it is not possible to eat it because there are cockroaches, you take pizza and instead of stuffing or dough there are cockroaches, you want to pour tea and from there cockroaches pour out. I understand and know there are cockroaches everywhere, but there are so many of them in this hotel that they cannot be overlooked! If you are late for breakfast, lunch or dinner, you will be left without food, because the staff, or rather the chefs and waiters of the hotel, will sweep everything away, calmly approach everyone and, together with the vacationers, they collect full plates and eat, and take top dishes, for example, for dinner goose alone for the whole hotel, a couple of people if they have time to take vacationers, and then this goose was dismantled by the cook and the waiters! No one hears anything, it's useless to complain, everyone shrugs their shoulders and says, well, this is Cuba! IT's not the norm to have so many cockroaches, you hear, it doesn't matter so much that the meager food would have already eaten this rice and beans with chicken, but when cockroaches swim everywhere, IT's TERRIBLE and they're not going to poison them!!
