An amazing place of strength and soul. The view of New Athos is very impressive. And the air is so clean. Just a master visit for everyone. A huge number of pilgrims and tourists! The temple will not leave anyone indifferent
This is exactly the place in Abkhazia that you definitely need to visit! The place is very strong, energetic, but it is better to come by yourself, without an excursion, to stay exactly as long as you need, admission is free, there is a small market nearby, a paid toilet 100 meters below, after you can go to a mini hydroelectric power station, a station with tunnels, a cable car. 2-3 hours can be spent in this place, slowly, at your own pace, without fuss on excursions
The temple itself is impressive as always. It's a pity that tourists and the tourist business make this place not holy, but just a landmark, a beautiful building. But the energy is very strong. If you listen, if you keep quiet, if you take the phone out of your hands and try to hear yourself and the voice of the Lord. There are two convenience stores with candles, icons and you can pay with a card - very convenient. The road up to the monastery sets you up for spiritual thoughts, but souvenir shops attract you. Apparently this is a test for us. And of course the views 👍
A beautiful, large cathedral. The murals on the walls and under the dome are very majestic. Candles smell like wax. There are benches throughout the temple, convenient for tired and unhealthy people.
I highly recommend visiting! Very! Beautiful! Holy! This place has a whole history and heritage that everyone should visit with pride, admiration, and the memory of their ancestors!
A wonderful salted place, an atmosphere of solitude, to stand by the icons, listen to the inner voice, remember your family. See the surrounding nature, filled with an endless chorus of cicadas.
The funny thing is that in 2013, there were scaffolding (they said it was under reconstruction), and in 2022 and 2024 nothing has changed. The easiest way to say it is on reconstruction! And so, of course, a very beautiful monastery and nature around. I always visit it and go to the cemetery of war Heroes, I don't know, for some reason it's very attractive (in general, for me personally, any military topic is interesting!) I recommend it! P. S. I love history.
The monastery is beautiful, both near and at a distance, elegant, well-groomed, such a cozy Cathedral with rich decoration. And what a magnificent observation deck, from the height of which the wooded mountains, the sea, and the sky open.
A grandiose structure., there is a hotel for ladles., refectory., the staff is polite., the atmosphere is favorable., cleanliness is perfect everywhere., such miraculous icons that take your breath away., Thank God for everything., everything is fine.
I really liked it. Gorgeous nature. A beautiful temple. The only thing that upset me was that repairs were required inside. It's a pity if it gets lost.
This is an incredibly beautiful temple. The imposing walls, the delightful murals on them, the cozy atmosphere of holiness inside – all this delights and soothes.
The cathedral is very beautiful, and it is still being restored and renovated. And the chanting inside the cathedral is fascinating. You can sit down and enjoy from the bottom of your heart.

An interesting place to visit. The temple is impressive. Interesting Byzantine architecture, well-painted frescoes in the ancient style. Magnificent view from the walls of the monastery to the sea. I recommend you to visit.
A great place to visit. There are beautiful views of the sea and mountains in front of the cathedral. The cathedral itself is very majestic.Inside there are ancient icons and frescoes. You come out refreshed. There are retail outlets nearby
We've been to this salted place probably five times, a very strong and beautiful place. It is a pity, of course, that such greatness is in a very deplorable state, the ROC needs to pay attention to this crumbling greatness.
This is one of the main attractions of Abkhazia since Soviet times! A huge number of pilgrims! It is located in a picturesque place! There is beauty inside! The temple is functioning! The atmosphere is simply mesmerizing!
The fact that it is beautiful and so understandable, but the atmosphere is simply "cosmic", during our visit there was a service, it was a pity there was no time to stay longer there, I really wanted to.
A beautiful temple, in a wonderful location with stunning views. Of course it's worth a visit. You can walk, for whom it is difficult to climb the hill, you can drive. You can go down the road (unpaved and quite steep, but go directly to the waterfall practically. You can go back along the hiking trail. But you definitely need to visit.
It is obligatory to visit and worship, regardless of the workload and lack of vacation, the Cathedral impresses with its unique beauty and lack of pomposity, the building of the Moscow Patriarchate and the restoration is overdue, it is very sad, considering the huge number of people who worship the holy place..
Definitely, I recommend all Orthodox Christians to visit this temple!!! Beauty! Awe!!! A unique feeling!!! By the way, what is interesting is the small market near the temple, where prices are 1.5-2 times lower than in other places
it is very beautiful inside the temple, the painting is perfectly preserved, the atmosphere of peace and splendor, but unfortunately only one temple is open to the public, you can walk outside, no more
The monastery of Simon the Canaanite itself, as well as the Cathedral itself, is very worldly, in other words, a place of prayer and calm.
The facade is slightly battered by time, but that's not what people who come there really need.
I was very pleased to finally get the correspondence with the holy Scriptures, that there should be no trade in the temple!
You can fill out a note, buy candles, etc. at the entrance to the monastery territory, and directly consecrate or put it in the Cathedral itself...In general, well done.
The church people will be fine there.
It's a very atmospheric place.
I was lucky enough to get there during the service, it takes my breath away when I'm inside.
At the entrance, they give out shawls and skirts to cover up. The visit is free of charge.
A very beautiful temple with a pleasant light energy. Yes, it is dilapidated in places and some of the visits are in an abandoned state, but at the same time, coming out of it, I feel full. In addition, the Cathedral stands on a hill, and from the observation decks there is a beautiful view in different directions.
A very significant place. A temple that has been standing on the ground for 200 years. It is definitely necessary to stop by and see it. The restoration and rebirth of the holy place are ahead.
The historical landmark is well preserved, but requires large investments for restoration! Admission is free, but with restrictions on clothing (if something is missing, they give everything out)👌
It looks like a very old place.but there are rules for entering the monastery:for men, the knees should be closed, and for women, the head, shoulders and legs should be closed.
A majestic Orthodox church, a monastery built in the 19th century!
The church is designed for 800 people, but unfortunately by now the number of priests has noticeably decreased.
It 's a painful paragraph to go to him . There is no road at all, only pits. There are a lot of visitors coming. The temple itself is in a decadent state. Candles can only be placed in three places. The view of the sea from there is beautiful.
I understand such a monastery is a church, all day long some tourists arrive on 20 buses a day. But nothing has been repaired for decades. At least something needs to be done, because donations are coming in. Everything is so ruined in Abkhazia, nothing is being done.
It is a very beautiful cathedral. And the frescoes are incomparable. I really liked the inside. But in the manner of Catholic churches, there are seats inside. Then I read about the split in unofficial sources and everything became clear. I visited for tourist purposes, I really liked the place.
It is very noticeable that the road and the temple itself have been in need of repair for a long time.. but like all attractions in Abkhazia, it is primarily a means to gain benefits.. no need to be greedy ! Make repairs and the road to the temple..
As part of an excursion tour, I advise you to visit. You don't have to take a skirt with a scarf, everything is on site. You can get to know the locals and explore the places around
The fact that there are only two such temples in the world is worth visiting.
If you haven't been, go ahead.
There is an artist there, so stop, it's worth it
