A synagogue in the Jewish quarter of Tskhinvali. This is an area of the old town. It was built in 1967 on the site of an old burned-down synagogue. The building, of course, is in decline, requires restoration, but it is no less beautiful, a real monument to the history of the city and architecture. There is a lot of preserved inside, paintings, ceiling coverings, furniture, stairs, a balcony for women. The construction is supervised by an Ossetian family who lives nearby. The doors were opened and we were allowed to enter. A must-visit place for tourists. The largest Jewish community in the Caucasus lived in Tskhinvali.

The Synagogue building is located behind a closed gate. It is currently inactive and has not been repaired. There are chickens in the yard. It would be interesting to go inside and take a look. There are photos, but the administrator rejects them for some reason

A scary-looking synagogue in an alley just north of Leningorskaya St.
