A magnificent hotel with an amazing beach, excellent cuisine, professional, responsive staff who work unnoticed all the time.Activiti for everyone: According to the schedule, stretching, yoga and Pilates, evening programs are available every day.: performances by artists, DJ, karaoke, dancing. It is simply impossible to break away from the sea - the beach is perfect, wide, spacious, gently sloping sandy beach, sky-colored sea with crystal clear water, lots of sun loungers and umbrellas, a beach bar with good coffee and other drinks. Everything is surrounded by pleasant interiors, accompanied by live music, with delicious dishes. There is also a fairly long embankment nearby, along which it is pleasant to walk. It is necessary to note the location, because from here it is very convenient to visit Alexandria with its indescribable atmosphere, plunge into the Greco-Roman era of Egypt, descend into the catacombs, climb the fortress, see the amphitheater. The only negative is that you always want to come back.
We were in August 2024
The area itself
The most important thing is the stunningly beautiful sea. The area itself is expensive and beautiful, on the one hand there are already inhabited houses along the sea, on the other hand there is a lot of construction, but it does not bother, it was quiet enough, I cannot fully appreciate it, because the windows were on the courtyard. There is nowhere to leave the territory yet. Any entertainment is far away.
It takes 3.5- 4 hours to get from Cairo airport, whether on an individual or a group transfer, few people travel on a group transfer, there were only 3 people with us, we traveled in a comfortable minibus. But even so, it's a little hard.
There is an airport in Al Alamein itself (40 minutes to the hotel) and in Alexandria (2-2.5hours).
Hotel
It should be understood that the hotel has been included in the Rixos network for the first year and is still specific. We arrived late in the evening, there were no welcome cocktails or a glass of water in the lobby of the 3rd building. There is no map of the hotel, what is where, what can be used. That is, you understand everything from the experience of your stay.
The towers have 25 floors and a lot of people. The lobbies of buildings 1+2 and 3 are very beautiful, richly decorated with flowers, and there are bars in buildings 1-2-3.
Guest visits without overnight stays are sold separately, which is why there are a lot of locals on the beach. Accordingly, if you come to the beach at 16.00, there are no empty seats. You need to take up seats in the morning, which is a bit annoying, it's a bunch of empty towels here and there.
There is no normal staircase, only for the fire exit, the checkpoint is littered with steers. From the dining room floor to the street, you need to take the elevator and wait.
Swimming pools
There are children's, there are adults with a depth of 1.4 m, you can swim. There are no slides or any entertainment for children, they are on their own, most often they jump off the sides or hang out in the Jacuzzi.
Pool on the 4th floor: there is a view pool, it is small and most often occupied, children's and indoor in the building. Whether it's worth going there to jostle, if there is a beautiful sea, everyone chooses for themselves.
Kitchen
All the food is very specific, tailored to Arab guests, lots of food with spices, mutton, sometimes quite fatty and spicy, which is why you have to go and choose what to eat.
Seafood is also scarce.
We were in mango ripening season, the whole of Cairo was covered with bags of mango, it wasn't every day at the mango hotel. Why?!
Watermelons, melons, pineapples and peaches are often not ripe. Sadness.
In general, for example, there was always the same thing for breakfast, but there was plenty to choose from: sandwiches, which the cook collected at a separate counter, hot oatmeal, cold rice porridge with nuts - a la mousse, quite edible, omelets, sausages, fish, cheese, pastries, fruits and vegetables, yoghurts pancakes, waffles, fresh honey.
But you expect a higher level of nutrition.
There was often live music playing in the dining room and a bird was allowed to fly in the morning - it was cruel, it beat against the windows and seemed uncomfortable in the noise.
Territory
It is not very big, there is billiards, table tennis, table football, a volleyball court, a small art object and a stage. You can't walk around.
There is a small shopping center on the territory, and you will be amazed at how many Arabs there are. They sit with their children on the steps, come to relax, take pictures (just in the interiors of the shopping center), even for a resident of Moscow City it's an unusual number of people (especially at lunch and in the evening).
If necessary, there is a pharmacy and a grocery store. Dates are 3 times cheaper than at the airport, but you need to pay in Egyptian pounds. The currency can be changed either at the hotel 1 building, or in the shopping center itself there is an ATM for exchange.
Beach
It should be understood that 70% of the guests are representatives of Arab countries who smoke a lot. They leave a lot of steers. The beach is not cleaned regularly. Plus, small pebbles are nailed at the entrance to the water, and no one cleans up.
There is a breakwater pier, super-large waves do not reach.
One of the disadvantages is that there are flies on the beach, and between 8 and 9 a.m., when there are few people, they are especially annoying. They leave bites on the body.
If we lie a little further from the entrance to the beach, closer to the pier, then at the time of our stay the bar was just being built and it was far from the others, ice cream on the beach is only in one place in the bar, the ktr is closest to the hotel, on the right. Accordingly, there are fewer people near the pier, you can safely swim. Representatives of Arab countries do not swim, they just stand in the water.
The shower is also at the very exit from the beach. That is, if you swam in the sea, splashed and lay down to sunbathe - no, you have to go to the shower
Animation
A very boring evening program, only its own animators with boring dances. From 21.00 there is an hour of dancing for children, followed by an hour for adults and a disco.
There is volleyball, water polo, aqua aerobics, yoga.
Pool bar
Due to the large number of visitors, the service is super slow.
Restaurants
In total, there are 2 a la carte restaurants on site and 4 additional ones on the pier, and you can also go to the KTR for free by appointment. None of them caused delight. That's what a free record in one day says.
There is also a rest in the shopping center, we did not go in, I can't say anything.
Rooms
Not every room has a balcony. Where there is no balcony, you need to dry clothes on a small rope in the shower, which is not convenient enough, especially if you are with children. If you dry on chairs on the balcony, be careful, they are painted.
Weak cosmetics, bed linen with pellets is a separate sadness for me, they asked me to change it several times and each time with pellets. Apparently washing at 90 ° wears out the laundry. The mattresses are comfortable, and there is a choice of pillows even in a standard room.
The room has a weak hairdryer, iron, kettle, minibar with soda, juice and chocolates.
The impressions are contradictory. It takes about 2 hours to get from Cairo by taxi. The room itself was not bad with a wonderful view. But, the audibility is just terrible. The neighbors were terrible, we heard all kinds of sounds, even called the reception. The hallway periodically smelled of some kind of smoking odors, but not cigarettes. The food in the shared restaurant was ordinary, the only place where it was delicious was in the meat restaurant on the street, but you need to make an appointment there in advance. Lobby drinks are relative, mostly local. There is no prosecco. The beach is small, very dense, I had to go far away to lie down quietly. I did not find the call of 18 +, because there are a lot of children.
