Once again in Italy, we decided to spend time in its North. We chose a place to relax on the Ligurian coast. Since it is not in our style to be tied to food - "all inclusive" and "half board" immediately "disappeared", and we decided to stay in an apartment where we can cook our own food when it is convenient for us.
The Stella Maris Apartments are conveniently located in a lively location in the town of Pietra Ligure. The city is very compact. Nearby you will find shops, pizzerias, and cafes. Take a little walk and you are already in the supermarket. A little more and you are already at the railway station, from where you can get to the neighboring cities of Liguria, to Milan, to Genoa (to the airport) or to neighboring France.
So, the apartments are quite nice. Upon check-in, the owner demanded to leave a deposit of 100 Euros in case we break something during our stay in the apartment. He gave me a receipt. This money was kindly returned to us when we checked out of the hotel.
We got a room on the 3rd floor, with a partial sea view, with a balcony. The room is bright and cozy. The kitchen area is fully equipped with accessories. I was pleased with the set of pots and knives. cutlery and a geyser coffee maker. There is a gas stove in the kitchen. Cooking on it is a pleasure. There is a spacious refrigerator where you can store food and cool champagne for dinner :) Our room was designed for 3 people - so there were 3 beds: one sofa and an ottoman. There were two of us, and therefore we were content with the sofa. The TV was not turned on - rest is the same.
There was also an air conditioner in the room, but the owner of the apartment, Vladimir, who speaks Russian brilliantly, blocked it for us, referring to the fact that "this is not included in your room rate." This shocked us a little, but then it turned out that someone did not have a refrigerator included in the price, someone had a safe. So, we could do without an air conditioner. It wasn't hot.
There was a safe in our room. The most common and easy to handle. We boldly left all valuables there, without worrying about their safety.
The sea is beautiful, transparent, refreshing. No starfish were found, but fish were seen! What I especially liked was its own private guarded beach, which was carefully tended every morning and evening by a team of rescuers: they set up sun beds and umbrellas, cleared the sand. The beach opened from 8:00 a.m. and closed at 19:00. There is also an indoor swimming pool. A prerequisite to get there is to have a bathing cap. So, stock up in advance! But the sea is still better.
Check-out from the apartment is at 09:00 and not a minute later. If you have a late transfer, you will have to sit in the lobby or take a walk somewhere, but you can leave your things in a special room. Another condition is cleaning the room after yourself, otherwise you may be billed. "Every step is a nickel," you will think, but, on the other hand, it spurs and obliges. If you are used to cleanliness, cleaning will not be difficult for you.
To sum up: we enjoyed our stay at the Stella Maris apartments. The "minus" was paid (and very expensive: 15 Euros / week) Wi-Fi, but we were able to survive this: we read books, admired the seascape and listened to the surf. The rest here is mostly passive. A favorite place for European very wealthy pensioners. So, if you like parties, discos, you definitely are not here.
