Actually, this is the Saint-Denis Gate. The Gate of Saint-Denis was designed by Francois Blondel on the orders of Louis XIV in honor of his victories on the Rhine and in Franche-Comte. The gate, built in 1672, replaced the medieval gates previously built under Charles V in the city wall.
