The long beach is like in Gelendzhik, but the embankment is much inferior. It is not whole and intermittent. But the sea is cleaner. Yes, excursions in Abkhazia are more interesting. The beach is shared all along the coast, located in the center of events at the Ferris wheel...The embankment has not been brought to perfection...there are spans without railings and fences...stairs

I was in Novaya Gagra, the sea is great, but the most annoying thing is that everyone got sick with rotovirus and all my friends too, the locals said it was from across the sea. So I do not know whether to advise Gagra, if you are not afraid to lose 4 days (and we were treated so much and did not leave the room), then welcome. First of all, the beaches themselves have become cleaner, equipped with sun beds and umbrellas. The purity of the water is generally impressive, after Abkhazia, I don't want to go into the sea in Sochi. All boats and catamarans have been updated. I wish there were toilets on the beach. I do not recommend going to Abkhazia for a vacation, in particular to Gagra. The beach does not get away from the word at all. There are two pieces of plywood locker rooms, also solid unsanitary conditions, because everything is in feminine hygiene items stuck in corners. During the two weeks of stay, they also did not clean once! There is no shower to wash or wash your feet from the sand. The sea is covered in gasoline-oil film from boats and motorcycles. The constant noise from megaphones from boats calling for excursions is replaced by the roar of beach sellers of corn and beer. Boats dock every 10 minutes anywhere-dropping off or taking on excursions, while dispersing swimmers in different directions. On the central staircase to the beach, an unprotected armature sticks out of the sand. At night, when it is not visible, you can get a specific injury.
The service in the city is also a problem. Everywhere they try to deceive with a sweet smile on their face. In the market, everyone has electronic scoreboards taped on scales. You won't understand how much they hang. They are rude to comments and refuse to sell you goods. Taxi drivers are a separate song. There is zero security. Two passengers rode the bus back to the airport just on kitchen wooden stools, because the driver had more passengers than seats. There is no Kondei. Instead, there is a broken glass on the landing door! The horror! The city has not been cleaned. There is dirt and debris everywhere. I write it as it is... Think for yourself.

Gagra! The local nature is excellent. That's all that can be said about this area. Neither culture nor previously erected historical sites are preserved or maintained. Abkhazia has a very beautiful, clean, turquoise sea! The beach is pebbly, it is better to enter in corals.

Swimmers! After swimming, leaving the beach, especially the first days, eat Enterosgel, those who have been there will understand.. we do not drink water from the sea from the word at all! Theft on the beach is less and less, at home even less..

A little to the right, directly across the beach into the sea from one of the hotels, sewage flows in an open form, so I recommend swimming closer to the Ferris wheel, otherwise E. coli is guaranteed to you.

Deck chairs are expensive. It would be better if they took 100 rubles before lunch and 100 after. Many people come either in the morning or only in the evening. After 16.00. And at 18.00 the chaise longue is taken away. It makes no sense to give 200 rubles a day if you come for 2 hours.

I had a rest in Gagra in September 2023. What I would like to note about the beach. The shore is pebbly, without special shoes, the entrance to the sea is painful (buy shoes immediately upon arrival). The sea is gorgeous! But a few nuances spoil everything: the most important one! Boats are constantly coming to the shore, there is simply no designated area for them. On the day of our arrival in Gagra, a man's leg was torn by a valve from a boat ... the outcome is lethal (
But to our surprise, the next day the boats also sailed to the shore as if nothing had happened… Dear, with this approach, sharks are not terrible, boats literally float over their heads…
The second disadvantage: there are no bins (or at least bins) for garbage anywhere. Dirty everywhere! Just complete unsanitary conditions! How do you, the local authorities and residents of Abkhazia not feel sorry to litter such a fabulous nature?
There are sun loungers and umbrellas on the beach. The beach where we rested, the whole situation was saved by the cafe "Thirst". At least something ... a very cozy cafe, with delicious cuisine, reasonable prices and modern design.
There are no lifeguards on the beach.

Of the cons: the buoys are too close in my opinion, as if for children. And one locker room and one shower in different places on the beach (maybe there are more, but apparently they were hiding)
