A beautiful and well-maintained park. We enjoyed walking for more than two hours. We took a taxi from Samarkand. 500-600 sums. A beautiful road through the pass. There is a very tasty and popular cafe on the pass, where meat is cooked in a tandoor. Great view. I highly recommend it
The park is beautiful, the ruined castle is also normal, and the wall around it is half made of cypress and tar on top of a real wall, half made of clay mixed with hay and piles of construction debris.
A COUPLE of mosques and old trees...
BUT IT'S DEFINITELY NOT WORTH GOING THERE FOR 2 HOURS OR MORE.
The road through the mountain pass from Samarkand seems to be beautiful. But every stone on it is painted with clumsy inscriptions. Like, "Vasya was here" and the like. Dirty roadsides, mountains of garbage.
The place where they shot some kind of movie in the old days is even worse... there are a lot of people who also relieve themselves in these painted stones...
the rocks and stones themselves have a bizarre shape. And the views are not bad.... but I advise you to stay in the mountains and travel there. There will obviously be something more interesting than a park with 2 pillars and a couple of mosques.
A grandiose, incredible-scale structure, the memory of the great Timur. Unfortunately, there is little left of the magnificent Emir's palace. It is worth getting from Samarkand, especially since the road through the pass is very picturesque, although not of the best quality.
An impressive place just an hour and a half drive from Samarkand! The grandeur of the building is breathtaking, you can watch the reconstruction on YouTube, the bend of the former arch remains a little on the skeletons.
Plus: a centuries-old landmark.
Cons: The park is paid. The toilet is paid. The museum is paid. There is no place to hide from the scorching sun in a huge area
The pylons of the arch of the Ak-Sarai Palace amaze with their greatness! And this is only a small part of what happened before. But even this remaining part is impressive. This is the place of power and glory of Amir Timur.
A beautiful park, but everything was ruined by the weather and the lack of raincoats on sale on the territory, an inflated price for a car guide who is not a guide at all, but just a carrier on the territory took 100,000 soums per person and at the end demanded more for a simple one., you also need to be careful at the pass, do not trust your guides and ask the price We ate a flatbread salad and 2 small pieces of mutton on the bones, tea and gave 270,000 soums, which is very expensive for such a set, considering that the meat was 300 grams maximum, taking into account the bones. (Unfortunately, I did not remember the name of the cafe, it is located on the pass)
The place is ancient, very ancient buildings from the time of Amir Timur, a large area for walking, there is a toilet, a cafe, and bicycle rental as well as golf cars. Entrance is paid, but the cost is not great
A cool atmospheric place. There is a very large park, there are benches and gazebos around. The gate to Aksaray is amazing. It is a pity that they have not reached our time in integrity and safety. Feel free to plan a walk for 2.5 hours.
I went to Shakhrisabs on purpose, although I had already been there before. It's not crowded yet, and it doesn't look like much compared to Samarkand. But it is the sincerity, not the pomposity of the restoration, as in Samarkand, and the slowness of contemplation that captivates... it is really a place of reflection on the greatness of man
What remains of the majestic palace of Amir Timur. The 52m high pylons are fascinating, and what Ak Saray (White Palace) was many centuries ago is described in the fairy tales 1000 and one night
These pylons are all that has been preserved from the grandiose palace...The place is atmospheric, but the inspection fee is too high. However, you can enter from the park for free.
A large, simply huge park, clean and very, very well maintained. I was just shocked that there was not a single piece of paper, not a speck. The lawns are smooth, watered, large alleys of lime trees, although the trees were probably planted not so long ago, so they do not give enough shade. But, apparently, the idea of the creators is to collect all kinds of trees that can grow in our latitudes. We counted 4 types of chestnuts. And yes, if possible, be sure to visit this place in order to experience pride and admiration for the cause of human abuse. Very little has been preserved, but it has been preserved with such love, with such respect, it is not at all like other tourist places that are being restored and then the nasty word "new model" appears. On the territory of the park there are shops of hunormands and restaurants. Of course, there are also historical places that are interesting to consider. Bicycles or scooters can be rented. It is better to come in the evening, when there is no intense heat.
It is a pity that there is no organized sightseeing service in such places. The cashier at the entrance offered a guide. We haggled and agreed on the price of 150 thousand soums for an hour-long tour of the entire complex in Shakhrisabz. A kind, pleasant, sociable woman from the school opposite came and tried her best to tell something about the complex, sometimes glancing at the Wikipedia page. Of course, such communication and a walk cannot be called an excursion. It's a pity, because there was a lot to tell in such a place. At the end of the tour, we accidentally turned into a side alley and got into the gallery. Aziz is in charge there. He also conducts excursions in Shakhrisabz and the surrounding area. In excellent Russian, in 15 minutes he told for free about Tamerlane, his palace, and the history of the city much more and more interesting than the "guide" in more than an hour. We bought a small painting from him. By the way, Aziz's tour of Shakhrisabz costs from 300 thousand soums.
A place without a tour is not at all interesting. Much of the visit will depend on the guide.
An impressive structure, or rather, what is left of it. The palace itself must have been grandiose in size. I would like to see the pylons of the arch in a restored form.
Antiquity, history, eternity. There's nothing else to watch. In order not to pay for the entrance- and there is nothing to pay for, go to the ticket booth on the road to the left or through the park to the right. 👍
If you doubt our greatness, look at our buildings! So it was written on Aksaray. But a small part of the building remained. Half of the height remained... And she was very impressed!
The second photo is a 1:30 scale model created by the hands of a local restoration artist named Aziz. He worked on it, at his own expense, for 13 years!

Even the remaining part of the pylons is amazing. You can't help but feel like a little bug walking through them. But once the arch was about 70 meters high. …
I was not impressed. Except for the entrance group (remains of the palace)There's nothing to see. It's just a big park, which charges money for admission, but if you don't reach the palace, but turn right, then you also get into this park for free. And then also take a picture at the palace. I read later that it is illegal to take money

One of the most pleasant parks I've been to in recent years! Plus, the very picturesque road to Shakhrazabz left an unforgettable impression
It is very monumental, the grandeur of the structure is amazing. There is a beautiful park nearby. I advise you to visit those who are imbued with history and want to feel the trend of the times
Long distances. The proposed transport is often killed. It's better not to go in the heat. There is still little shade. People are friendly as always and everywhere in Uzbekistan!
