We really liked it because we were ready for this cave. Boots only from 41p, it happens that they leak, without them, if there is a lot of water, it will be hard. The flooring is homemade, there are no railings, it is slippery in places, the lighting is bad to walk, especially if there is a large group, it is better to take your flashlight. You can only get through somewhere on your haunches.
But all this creates an atmosphere. And in the cave in the middle of the way you can swim, which we took advantage of! Very cool! Thanks a lot to all the boys who organize excursions!!!
We arrived, there is no one, only a well-fed young man "presses the mass" on the bench (in the photo). They didn't wake me up, they walked past me, straight into the cave. A frisky kid came from somewhere, introduced himself as Cesar, 6 years old. He said that the group with the guide was inside and had to wait. They didn't wait, they didn't go deep. Anyone who has ever been in caves will not discover anything new for themselves. I gave the kid 100 rubles. At the exit, the "well-fed" came to his senses and began to show the little one that he had let into the cave without money, as I understood from their Abkhazian. We wanted to sit on the bench, they announced to us that you can sit on the bench for money. They left with relief. The general message is that nature has given beauty to people and they trade it like they don't believe in themselves. The main principle is to make money and do nothing. Separately, I would like to say about two exhausted bears languishing in a tiny enclosure. They did not come close, so as not to get upset.
If we had been warned right away what was waiting for us, then not everyone would have gone. And so, the money has been paid, there are 3 pensioners, 3 children and only three who can really walk this "path of survival". Yes, it is very atmospheric and even extreme. Many people will like it, but only if you are not leading a child by the hand and not wearing flip-flops. The guide is happy to inform you that there are 5 meters of cold water below, and you are walking on slippery, broken planks. There is no railing, no insurance, there is simply no cable even along, so that there is at least a hint of safety. If you don't fall into the water, there's a chance you'll break your head while you're on all fours. Well, when we got to the point where you just have to cross the wall to get to the pile of cameos, then we finished the journey. It is clear that no one will be responsible if someone falls or gets killed. But I would like to warn those who guess to read the reviews first. This adventure is not for everyone! I advise you to think about it first and definitely not take children and the elderly
An interesting place. The ticket price is 500 rubles for an adult. children under 7 years old are free of charge. A cave in which a river flows along the bottom, in places the depth reaches 5-9 meters, the water temperature is 13 degrees. the guide said that you can swim)))). The movement through the cave passes over wooden floors, it is slippery. The vaults in the cave sometimes reach a height of half a meter, you have to walk with a goose step or on your knees. They give out boots. There are bats in the cave. We were at the moment when the lights were turned off, I was lighting my way with my phone, so I didn't have time for photos. There was no one else besides our family, in general, the tour was just for us.
Gorgeous cave: lots of stalactites/stalagmites, rubber boots are given out at the entrance, because inside the river is 15-20 cm deep. There is a smell of hydrogen sulfide at the entrance, most likely bats. The deeper into the cave, the more beautiful it is.
I don't recommend it. A guy met us, opened the gate, told us to go ahead, and he would come back later. Because there are no railings, you need to move on all fours in places. As I understand it, if something happens, no one will answer.
The cave is super, I advise you to visit, the film descent is just relaxing compared to this cave)), the impressions after the walk are just great!!! You won't regret it for sure!!!
The cave is just great, it didn't feel like it was next to it - neither with the Athos cave - constant problems with tickets - a crush like on Chirkizon, Nor with Otapskaya. In the Otapa Head cave - how fascinating everything is , narrow passages, wooden decking , a gorgeous guide , a cave with a length of 950m. 4 halls - in 4 halls there are 4 waterfalls - not big of course, you can swim , which is very pleased , the pictures turn out great. And so the place is good, there are bears, horseback riding, you can catch trout and they will cook for you right away. Most importantly, there is no crowd. The hosts are friendly. Admission is 300 rubles - without socks and boots - we were in crocs - we did not slip. The only thing you can take with you is a flashlight 🔦 for convenience
Great place! 👍👍👍It is not as popular as the New Athos cave, but from this, in our opinion, it is more interesting! The cave is quite young, wild and original. It has just begun to be equipped for tourists, of whom there are still a few in these places. Adam, an excellent guide, gave us a very interesting tour of the cave, helped us pass difficult sections in places) Thank him very much! I even managed to swim in a cave lake. Gorgeous places around the cave, you can ride horses, take a walk, have a picnic. And a boy named Sandrik showed us a picturesque waterfall near the cave, we swam, admired nature a lot. In general, the place is not very well known to tourists yet, but it is definitely worth a visit. Thank you for your hospitality! ❤️
Great place!!! Extremely beautiful, uplifting!!! Before visiting the cave, do not forget to take socks with you, as you will be given rubber boots. The size range starts at 41. Whoever has a smaller leg, the quest begins - hold the boot. There are 4 halls in the cave, we managed to see everything, we walked with a guide all the way. We walked along wooden bridges. In some places they are slippery, in some places you can't see anything, and in some places there are places that at least lie down on your stomach and crawl. If such adventures are not for you, just don't visit this place. Negative reviews are not clear. But if you are ready for a little extreme, go beyond your comfort and cheer yourself up and check your physical fitness - you are here!
An interesting place, of course, is not really equipped, there are not enough railings, and sometimes the passages are very low, after all, for people with training. I did not go to the end of the spouse, I was very scared up the clay. It's scary and slippery. But it gives a sense of primitiveness.
It is very convenient to order lunch before entering the cave - everything is ready. Barbecue swings are not fat- you can lick your fingers. Khachapuri with the heat of the heat is huge.
We were in the Otap's Head cave today. And three years ago, in the nearby Abrskil cave.
Of course, you need to visit all this, and it's wonderful. However, I want to draw attention to some points: it was at this cave that we were not told that it would be impossible to pass it completely because of the rain. They collect money in advance (in Abrskil they collected money from us after the visit, and honestly warned that because of the rain, and then it was too, the water level was high, and asked us to wait a little while until it subsides), and inform us that we will receive the change at the exit. Almost immediately after entering, the wooden platform is flooded with water so that the guide says that if we go further, the water will be above the knee, clearly hoping that we will not go. My wife and one child stayed, and I went on with the second child, taking off my shoes. Almost immediately after that, the cave ended for us, because the next passage led down a little, and it turned out to be completely flooded. Here the guide says "the most beautiful part of the cave is in the second half, but it's not my fault - you can see for yourself that nature did everything" (meaning that because of the rain we can't go any further). A little upset that we couldn't fully see the cave, we all go out together. The local boy is the only fat Abhaz we have seen in Abkhazia, and probably the son of the owner of the site, which is located on the way to this cave, and who collects the entrance fee, reports that they allegedly have no change, which of course is not true. This service was a little stunned, but I offered to pay less, since we were practically unable to see the cave, to which he replied "so what." At the same time, he quickly looked at the money in my hands, and informed me that I would have the initial amount without change.
The guide who was with us speaks Russian poorly, almost nothing was clear, and because of the rapid flow of the river, it was not audible.
It is worth visiting the cave in 2022, not 250 rubles, but 300 rubles, and 150 rubles per child.
I recommend talking tougher with this fat kid, if you are not satisfied with something, and do not pay in advance.
We were in the Otap's Head Cave today, a disgusting place, we were brazenly deceived and spoiled our mood. We went there after the Abrskil cave and thought that everything would go as well as there, but no. We were met by a teenage boy and we immediately asked him if we could walk through the cave, since it's raining now, to which we were told that the cave is 950 m long and we can walk about 450 meters, we thought and decided why not, at least half of it we'll see. Then we went with this boy to the shed with boots and it turned out that there were only short rubber boots there and we decided to clarify once again whether we could walk these 400 m through the cave, to which we were again told that we could. We thought, well, if they say we can, then it's good. Initially, we specified how much it would cost and the young man replied 300 per person. We wanted to pay immediately, but we did not have any change, the young man said that he did not have any change and could transfer, we agreed. When the so-called guide came up to us, he said something to the boy and he immediately said, "Give me a thousand, I'll run to change it for a neighbor," although we had already agreed that we would pay by transfer, we thought what difference it made, gave the money and happily went to the cave for the guide. At the entrance, we saw a strong current in the cave and again asked the guide if we should go there, to which they again told us yes. We went in and the guide started mumbling to himself, we only heard that you can swim in the cave all year round, after another 5-10 minutes the guide began to say the same thing and show that everything was flooded and nature did its thing, but if we want, we can swim. At the same moment, I realized that I had been given torn boots and my foot was wet, I tell the guide about it and he safely ignores me, I repeat it to him a little louder, to which he replies to me, "And so it will do, you can't go any further." Here we can no longer stand it and ask for a refund, as we were deceived and spoiled our mood. We argued with the guide about the refund and said that they were just deceiving tourists and guests of this beautiful country, to which he told us that since we were guests, we should behave normally. We leave the cave and tell him to have a boy come up to us now and return the money, the guide starts saying "Well, wait 5 minutes, now I'll bring everything to you", it immediately became clear to us that he was going to dump somewhere and that's it, we disagreed and said that either the boy comes with the money, or we go with him to the boy. A boy started coming up to us and some man with him (as we later realized it was probably the owner and the boy's father), they returned the money to us, but they started saying that you went there yourself, no one called you and in general you thought to come here in such weather.
In conclusion, I want to say that, in principle, it is not necessary to go here, people are disgusting and it is better to take a good road to Abrskil, it is much more interesting and better, they give long boots and even categorically refuse to charge in advance. I agree with the last review, in principle, the same thing happened to us.
Ooo! Wow! We visit every year and every time there is something new! This year, a cafe with a very tasty local hodgepodge was opened (by the way, moderately spicy), trout baths began to be made (such pens for fish of different ages), but the fact that 7 species of bats live here, and so tiny that they are considered square meters, is impressive, especially, If you manage to see them, unfortunately, we have seen them only a couple of times, the guides are local guys, they tell you very interestingly about the history of the discovery of these caves, all sorts of legends, they scare you.
We drove up to the closed gate - the guide was searched through the locals who were standing on the street.
The cave is pretty, but there are practically no stalactites and stalagmites in it. A river flows along the bottom, all movement is on the catwalks. They don't carry boats anymore, there are bridges there too. They give out boots.
With very young children and the elderly, as well as with knee or back problems, I do not advise - there are a lot of places where you have to squat. We were with a child for 2.4 years, it's pretty creepy when you have to walk in single file under the roof of a cave, and at the same time hold the child's hand. There are no railings on the catwalk.
If you are going to visit two caves - this one and Abrskil, then start with this one, otherwise it will not be interesting after Abrskil.
The old school tour is interesting and worth a visit

It's a disgusting place, money is wasted! They paid in advance but could not pass, the husband with a height of 1.9 m had to squat his way. There are no railings, you walk on a slippery wooden plank, it's scary. Nothing is equipped, it's dangerous!!!with children, it's not an option to go there at all! Yes, and we adults were uncomfortable.
The money was not returned to us, although we did not pass the cave.
And there's also a bunch of ads saying that there's WiFi and children's pools, a blatant lie! All this is not there at all!!!
Well done, it's very beautiful. I come often. The service is amazing for these places. Clean boots at the entrance, light, Modestly but decently organized. It is very similar to the Czech Republic-Austria of the seventies. Surprisingly, there is no swearing here.
It's very interesting to see. It's beautiful inside and out. Inexpensive. They give me boots. The family liked it. The road to the cave is good, there is one fault across the road, be careful.
This place is worth a visit despite the difficult transport accessibility. A wild cave, minimally touched by civilization. Guided tour with a story, restaurant.
