When you visit a new place for the first time, you always experience a WOW effect. It is difficult to say how it will be the second time. Get ready to carry your passport with you at all times. Imagine yourself as a guest from Central Asia in Moscow in the 90s or the noughties. That's about the same thing in Beijing. Only everything is automated and communication with government representatives is minimal, if you have your passport with you, otherwise they will not miss it.
When we were not allowed into the Forbidden City due to the lack of cash payment for tickets and the inactivity of Russian bank cards, we paid 3 yuan each and enjoyed walking around this park. There are also ancient pagodas, and most importantly charming Chinese women in national costumes who arrange photo shoots for each other. And they were happy to take pictures with us for FREE. A great park. Cheap and angry!
