The founder of Berdyansk is considered to be Field Marshal General Count Mikhail Semyonovich Vorontsov. Whose monument was erected on September 17, 2010. at the intersection of Azovsky Ave. (Lenin) and Universitetskaya Street (Pobedy ). The name of Count Vorontsov is associated with the development of the south of Russia, the construction of many cities, including Berdyansk. The archival documents contain a plan for the construction of the city signed by a prominent politician, commander and strategist, Governor of Novorossiya and Governor of Bessarabia, Field Marshal General Count Mikhail Semyonovich Vorontsov. It is to the count that the Berdians owe the emergence and prosperity of the city. And don't forget the story. The Count personally took part in the survey of the area near the Berdyansk Spit for the construction of a port. According to his plan, a city garden was laid out, street names were built and given. This wonderful bronze monument, together with the pedestal, is 5 meters high. And it was created by Berdyansk sculptor Nikolai Mironenko. His skillful hands created such famous and beautiful monuments in Berdyansk as the plumber Mikha, the bull nurse, summer residents, children of Lieutenant Schmidt, a memorial sign to Chernobyl.
