The famous nursery in the past is located on the slope of Trapezium Mountain in Sukhum, near the botanical garden. It was founded in 1927, and now we see on the territory what we managed to preserve after the collapse of the Soviet Union and the 1992-93 war.
The ascent to the nursery is up a long and steep staircase.
There are only monkeys in cages on the territory (3 species), the territory is not well maintained, you can feed the animals. And in general, that's all.
The conditions of detention leave much to be desired.
You can join the tour - they tell you in some detail about the work of the institute and about the local inhabitants.
There is a monument to physiologist I.P.Pavlov and a monument to monkeys on the territory.

It is necessary to feed carefully, because monkeys are arrogant and nimble, they grab a stick on which you slip them pieces of food. The cages don't have a very pleasant smell and are a bit dirty.

Such a HUGE nursery, both in area and in importance, is in terrible disrepair.
That is, it works, scientific work is being carried out in it, you can go there, but the territory is neglected, buildings are falling apart, cages with animals are old. The horror!!! But at the same time, the animals are clean, the cages are cleaned, there is a smell, but this is a nursery. At the entrance to the kennel, you can buy treats for animals-a 100-ruble bag. But the animals do not starve and choose the food offered.
There are quite a lot of visitors. Of course, the children are happy, but the adults see everything.
I would have gone there again - no.
