The hotel is very well located, all the main attractions are within walking distance.:
- Suleymaniye Mosque;
- Hagia Sophia Mosque;
- Dolmabahce Palace;
- Gulkhan Tulip Park;
- the Filoxene cistern.
The owner of the hotel, Yusuf, is very attentive and helpful, will always help you solve any questions. Organized a transfer from the airport and back.
The hotel is certainly not quite modern, but it has its own "zest", and as they say: - "taste and color ..."
There are a lot of mosques in Istanbul and every morning at 5-30 there is a service (morning prayer), so you can hear it very well, be prepared for this. 🌝
In terms of price/quality (5 nights, 13,000 rubles in December 2024) - a better place. The prudent and non-intrusive host, the size of the room and the location are a huge plus. We had towels, disposable slippers, a kettle, water, a refrigerator, a table, a sofa, three beds, shampoo, shower gel and a small number of guests. If it's critical, our room was on the third floor without an elevator. There are rooms on other floors as well. In general, I recommend this room for a comfortable sleep. If there are other requirements for the number, you need to think about it.
We travel a lot, rent apartments and hotels in different countries and cities, but this is the first time we've been in such a horror, and even with children. I relied very heavily on the reviews and the rating of the "island" and was sorry. Unfortunately, we paid in advance on the website for all 4 days at once.
We arrived at about 6 p.m. in the rain and with the children, and the owner of this apartment met us from the airport (transfer is $45). Then there was a tour of the apartments and the horror of what he saw.
And now the facts:
1. It is located 5 minutes from the historical center, but in the "slums", it is generally not safe to walk in the evening.
2. I paid for a 2-room room for 4 (2 adults and 2 children aged 5 and 10), in fact it is a large and elongated room divided by a cardboard partition.
3. Plaster is falling from the ceiling, dirt is everywhere (only clean bedding), everything is falling off, it stinks, the light is so dim that we turned on the phone flashes, there is mold in the bathroom, the bedside table is broken, the toilet is leaking, there is a very strong smell of bleach, the sockets are barely holding on. Yusuf (the owner) was immediately shown everything and asked questions, to which he replied that the plaster had been like this for a long time and everything was OK, do not touch the bedside table, the toilet is flushing. Everyone was shocked. I told Yusuf that it was unsafe and I was afraid to sleep under such a ceiling, he replied that there was only a room for 3, everything else was occupied.
We moved into the next room: the ceiling and walls were covered in black mold, and a curtain was stapled in place of the ceiling in the bathroom.
3. There is no sound insulation, there is a railway nearby, so everything shakes regularly. When the "neighbors" come into their phones from the street, it's like your front door is slamming, you can hear it so much.
In general, in the morning we packed up and left this "junk", despite the fully paid accommodation. This is the most dangerous apartment for your health!
The owner refused to return the money.
I wrote to Ostrov's support service, he told them that we had agreed to an alternative option, so he would not refund the money!
P.S. when I bluntly told Yusuf that this was not allowed and it was terrible, he made it clear that my review would not affect his rating and reviews.
p.s. I paid about $90 a day without breakfast in terrible conditions, the owner claimed that it was great for that kind of money. On the trail.We checked into a 3* hotel for $ 110, a 4-bed room with breakfast and cleanliness and safety.
A very interesting hotel for those who like to make their way in life and win a place in the sun. I booked a place in it in advance, but since it was the first time I was in Turkey, I did not take into account that a hotel without stars in Europe and a hotel without stars in Turkey are completely different types of hotels and this was the beginning of just some kind of extravaganza. I checked in closer to midnight due to the late arrival. That's when I first got the feeling of an impending holiday. There was no one at the reception at all. The monitors on which the image from the cameras was broadcast were blinking softly, and the cameras themselves were blinking amiably, as soon as I stopped moving, such an achievement of civilization as a motion sensor connected to lighting came into effect. He made it possible to appreciate the Turkish dark night. The desk clerk's phone number was carefully written on the table so that those who wanted to check in could get in touch. The phone call brought the festival with impressions, as the sleepy voice of the receptionist said that he was sleeping at home and he definitely would not go to the hotel for the sake of the guest who was checking in. Although, if I want, I can take the key in the box and move in myself. He also has a service in Turkey, so I checked in. The room was amazing. When I was a child, I went to visit my grandmother in the village. The same feeling. Very nice tulle on the windows, a little wrinkled, but it was there. High humidity. They say it has a good effect on the skin of the face, you can rejuvenate, but this is not accurate. A double bed with a very comfortable recess in the middle ensured that it was impossible to even accidentally fall to the floor at night, which is another point in the piggy bank of care. The owners clearly cared about cleanliness, as the inscription in different languages urged not to walk on the carpet, which was the proud name of the piece of carpet around the bed. It's not that there wasn't any toilet paper in the toilet, it was leftovers. However, if you complete a simple quest, you could find a new roll. Someone laid the tiles with diligence, they probably studied and acquired the skill. But these are small things. The view from the window was panoramic, as many as 2 wide windows with a magnificent view of the wall and the courtyard blocked by a tree trunk. In the process of looking at the numbers in amazement, the receptionist called me to find out if everything was in order. I turned out to be fine with the order, although I was twitching my eye a little. I asked where I could find water. He kindly advised using the plumbing system, but did not recommend drinking too much water. In the morning I tried to move out, I reasoned that I was not ready for such luxury and could be content with something simpler. The desk clerk said he'd be there in five minutes. Four hours later, the desk clerk's uncle and his father arrived. They lamented for a very long time that such an esteemed guest was leaving the hospitable room so quickly, and they clicked their tongues in frustration. However, all this did not bring the discharge any closer. Meanwhile, the clerk was at prayer and could not arrive in any way, except in about five minutes. Two hours later, my uncle finally dismissed me and asked me to wait for the desk clerk, who was already arriving and had only five minutes to wait.... I didn't wait for anyone, because I probably had a bad day.
An amazing place! The hosts are very kind and friendly people! You can pay for the ozone hotels, and pay for the NDT in rubles, the admin will handle the delivery. The building is really old, but the owners did everything possible to make you feel comfortable! Super view from the window! It's quiet at night, the bed linen is clean, there are dishes in the kitchen, you can cook by yourself. Water, coffee and tea are free of charge. The nose is clean. Just a thrill!
The window was not closed, it was not adjusted, the audibility was at a height, the furniture was tired. Both of them didn't work on TV, and they didn't do it in a week (no TV signal). There are pieces of dust under the beds and in the radiator. The air conditioner is not serviced, the sash creaks on it. There is no shower attachment in the shower (broken off). The pencil inscriptions on the walls are obvious from the moment of construction. A good location, a shop nearby (there is not much choice, prices are reasonable, there is no alcohol) and a cafe with far from loyal prices. The owner is responsive, promises, but does not do it, or pretends to move to solve the problem. Out of shower gels, out of stock, the helpful host offered to buy them, since they, in his opinion, are not included in the price. The mattresses and bedding are not bad, they are comfortable enough. Yes, I almost forgot that the toilet drain tank freezes after draining the water, although it will go like this:-)

In principle, a good place to stay for a relatively low cost. Among the advantages: convenient location, large rooms, high ceilings, good mattresses and beds, the hotel is located in a very quiet location. From the sounds: only seagulls and morning azan. On the downside: everything is very old and shabby, there is no sound insulation, especially between floors. It is better to take rooms on the 3rd floor, otherwise every step and movement of the neighbors from above will be heard.
One important thing: We lived in two rooms, and in each there was a strong smell of sewage in the toilet. In the second room, it was so strong that it spread throughout the room even with three windows open. (we lived in winter, perhaps at high temperatures the problem is not so pronounced, as the smell increased with decreasing temperature, especially at night). If you are sensitive to odors, then this option is definitely not for you. We assume that there are no siphons, especially in the shower, and the smell comes out of the pipes directly (because when you turn on the water, it gets better). One more small thing: when it rains, water runs down some walls inside the building (including in the room where we were), and drips from the ceiling.
Administrator Yusuf was always in touch, which is also quite nice. But it overly persistently offers not too profitable services and tours. You need to check everything he offers. You will either find cheaper ones or you will find bad reviews (if we talk about tours, some of them are real traps for tourists)
From the additional: there are dishes on the lower floor. A broken coffee machine that provides only hot chocolate, milk and boiling water. But maybe it will be fixed.
You can live. If you want to save money and prioritize a large room and a convenient location, this is your option. If you are sensitive to odors and want a clean and new room, then it is better for a similar price to look for smaller rooms and a little further from the main attractions.
As if everything is visible in the photo. It's a very old hotel, a small room, and it smells damp. When booking, the photos are very different from the fact. We couldn't live, we moved out. The money was returned to us

We arrived at the hotel at lunchtime. A cat greeted me at the reception with a note indicating my wi-fi username/password and phone number.
We chose the hotel because of its typical Turkish flavor.
I liked the room with a terrace from the picture on the Internet. We were looking forward to drinking Turkish tea in the fresh air before going to bed. Alas, it has remained in our imagination. The terrace, kitchen, and dining area are in terrible disrepair.
In general, the room is a separate kind of art.
From cleaning, they wipe the floor, make the bed and change the towels. The same set of "services" is provided when changing guests. We "inherited" used pieces of soap, half-empty shampoo bottles and mold in the bathroom.
The beds are broken, they are repaired exclusively with scotch tape. The mattresses are comfortable, the bed is clean.
You can survive this, given the budget of the hotel, its excellent location and the minimum amount of time spent there.
When choosing a wooden hotel, one thing was not taken into account - the old tree creaks terribly. The worst part is when the upstairs neighbors move around their room. The creaking is simply unbearable. And if your sleep schedule falls during the waking hours of the neighbors above, beware. Even the invocatory prayers from the neighboring mosque pale before this.
The owner of the hotel is very kind and responded to all requests, for which we add one star. The potential of the hotel is huge, we hope that it will be able to be implemented competently.
Well, what do you want from 2 stars? The building itself is old, wooden, 3-storey, several owners, each, so to speak, has 1 entrance and each is a separate hotel. This is the 1st entrance that Nurai occupies. The stairs are a little steep, but the owner helps to bring things to the room. I liked the fact that the room had high ceilings, and I could see the Bosphorus from the window. There is everything you need in the room - a kettle, tea, cups, a refrigerator, a hairdryer in the bathroom, shower accessories. The linen is clean, there are no problems with towels. The breakfasts are delicious. You can use a cooler at any time, drink tea, coffee without restrictions outdoors (in the so-called garden). All issues that arise are resolved promptly, the owner Yusuf is almost always in touch. A very pleasant bonus was communication with the cat family- mom and 4 kittens (well, sooooo affectionate kids)))). Yes, and also - a real chicken harem lives on the roof opposite - the sultan takes them out for a walk every day, so early in the morning you can hear a cock crowing, but this did not bother, but, on the contrary, amused))). And of course the sights - Hagia Sophia, the main mosques, temples are literally a 10-minute walk away, the Grand Bazaar is 15 minutes away, the Egyptian Bazaar, Galata Bridge are 3 tram stops. The location is very convenient, the area itself is quiet and calm.
A creaky wooden dormitory. But how nice it was there! The room has everything, including hot water. Modest and shabby, but sincere.
Hello Yusuf! 😁
By the way, he also has "modern" rooms
