the place is nice, quiet, cozy and very beautiful views (especially in summer when everything is green), the sunsets here are also wonderful. The disadvantage is that the entrance has recently been paid, and there is nothing to see except a couple of towers and views (
It was planned to build a cafe close to the castle, but it was not built in the right time and now nothing seems to be being built at all in that place.
Yeah... A unique monument of defensive architecture of the Middle Ages, the ancient center of Novogrudok, the residence of the Grand Dukes of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania ...
But many more restoration works need to be carried out here!
Very much and for a long time!
For fans of ancient structures, it will certainly be interesting here, but the rest of this place will probably be partially interested only as a background for photographs.
A beautiful monument, or rather, what remains of it, of our Homeland.Unfortunately, there is not much historical left there, but it is still worth visiting the place. One is a new model tower, the other is under reconstruction. There are many buildings around that have a sign of historical heritage. The kurgan and the monument to Adam Mickiewicz are very interesting. There is no view from the observation deck of the kurgan to the towers - an old linden tree interferes - it would be very beautiful.
It's a wonderful place, a real story lives here. A magnificent circular panorama of the Belarusian nature. It is great that specialists in the restoration and conservation of the castle are working. There is one thing to note: the place is historical and attracts a lot of tourists at any time of the year. The weather is changeable and it rains often. During such periods, you can't walk through the courtyard of the castle - dirt. It would be possible to make ladders to the observation decks, it would be culturally and convenient.
There's not much to look at yet, in principle. People are rebuilding and building, everything is in the process. There is an observation deck on the territory. Excursions come, show and tell. I was in October 2024, driving myself. They sell commemorative magnets in a stall.
It's better to look at photos of the castle and nearby places first. I liked. The view is beautiful from a height, there is an active church nearby. Monutment still look nearby
Restoration is underway. A massive stone fence appeared. It became safe for walking, but the opportunity to see the most beautiful landscapes disappeared. I wonder what the final version will look like.
Restoration is currently very active. The very place where it is located is amazing. There is an observation deck nearby on another hill, and there is a lot of space from it. Next year we will go to see the castle, only one fragment has been erected, there is no access to it. Only from afar can you see
I was passing through in May! There were almost no tourists. I advise you to devote half a day to this place, take a walk around the city (the former capital of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania), go on an excursion to the castle (what is left of it). At the moment, restoration is underway (in my opinion, they are building a new model), they are not allowed inside. I advise Adam Mickiewicz to climb the mound, which offers an excellent panorama of the castle and the surrounding area. It is possible to combine it with a trip to Mir Castle (where there are almost no tourists after 14-15 hours).
A majestic architectural monument that is definitely worth a visit!
It is currently undergoing restoration (which, unfortunately, leaves much to be desired). It was closed on the day of our arrival, although it was supposed to work according to the schedule
A historic place, very old! Surprisingly, the capital TURNED ON once. The landscape is beautiful from all angles. At the base of the castle hill is one of the oldest castles in Belarus!
The castle is under restoration. In fact, it doesn't exist yet. It is possible to enter the castle for a ticket, but for unknown reasons, the ticket office was closed, as was the Castle itself. Nearby, the mound is like an observation deck, the view is average.
Once fully restored, it will be interesting.
In fact, there is nothing to look at: a historical crumbling single tower surrounded by a stone defensive wall. The prolonged reconstruction looks very sad. Sawdust, machinery, and garbage are all over the territory. If you have already decided to come to see the castle, you can climb to the top of the wall and look at the views from above and feel the unity with the history
The historical place of the city, a beautiful landmark. But they made a paid entrance. Paid! For what?? If it had been restored, then fine, but only the fence was put at the entrance and the wall was slightly restored and then with modern bricks...
Novogrudok was chronicled 980 years ago. Novogrudok Castle has been preserved fragmentally, the foundations of fortifications with buildings and ruins of towers have reached our days.In the Middle Ages it had a serious defensive significance. Now it is a picturesque place where you can feel the connection of times, enjoying the clean air and beautiful landscape.
The historical place on the map of Belarus is the first capital of the Republic of Belarus. A very impressive place, the grandiosity of construction in those distant times is surprising and impressive. It is a pity that the castle itself has not been preserved to this day. A very beautiful place on the map of the country, it was in vain that a place was chosen there for the construction of a castle and the capital of that country.
It's great that we made the outline of the castle to understand its size in the past. Before visiting, be sure to read the history, so the visit makes sense, otherwise it's just stones. Not far from the entrance, a woman sells handmade souvenirs, speaks pure Belarusian, bought a singing bird from her, very beautiful, I recommend it)
Beautiful and well-maintained area around. There are some good views. The interior is closed, work is underway. In the future, it can be turned into a good center of attraction for tourists, but while people arrive, they rest against the locked gates and, after a little trampling, turn around.
A little weak. There's not much to see. You can also reproduce bows and arrows and anything from those times. Yes, even hang paintings on canvas, they don't cost anything. There's nothing to see. Fortunately, the guide told the children nearby, so at least it turned out to listen. The place is iconic.
I haven't been here for a long time. I was curious to see what had changed. To view the surroundings, be sure to climb the hill with a viewing platform.
While there are preserved remains of several towers of the Novogrudok Castle, reconstruction is underway quite actively. We will wait for the result, while it is difficult to say what it will look like. It's probably not worth going on purpose right now, but if you're driving by, it makes sense to take a look.
In general, in principle, there is nothing special here. Everything is destroyed. But I love Novogrudok. There's something here... And a beautiful view from the castle hill, the atmosphere is pleasant. I come here often. Now something has been "restored", but as for me, it would be better not to touch anything, it was better before
An interesting place to visit. If you have the opportunity, be sure to take a guided tour, you will learn a lot. It's just a pity that the castle has been preserved to this day only in this condition.
The castle is currently undergoing restoration. You can't get into the territory. From the observation deck on the hill next to the castle, you can enjoy magnificent views of the city.
There is still a lot of work to do, but the castle is already looming. The souvenir shop is good! The panorama from above is beautiful. The observation deck also offers a good view.
Minus one star for paid admission (1 bel. rub as of 09.2024)
Minus the second star for the lack of a terminal for paying for paid entry (as of 09.2024)
It is unclear what to pay for. One and a half towers and a new fence. Bags of building mixes can be viewed for free in specialized stores.
Coming here is an opportunity to touch, literally and figuratively, the heritage of your people from the time of the INCL. Castle Hill, Bolshoy (Mindovga Castle) and small castles. It is fascinating, interesting and informative. Come and you won't regret it.
Only a small part of the legendary castle has been preserved, but everything around is permeated with history. It is located on a hill, from here there is a beautiful view of the expanses of Belarus - forests, fields, meadows. Below you can see the church where Jagiello was married. Repairs are in full swing now, there are fenced areas and construction equipment on the territory, but the entrance is open and you can take a walk. It is a bit of a pity that the original wall of boulders was updated and rather clumsily - among the new boulders, a modern brick catches the eye. The second tower is almost finished, it does not look historical either, everything is made of new bricks. There is an observation deck next to the hill where the remains of the castle are located. In summer, because of the greenery, the castle is not very visible from there, but the view is beautiful. The woman who sells souvenirs at the entrance to the castle has excellent knowledge of the history of these places and it is clear that she loves Novogrudok. She told me very interestingly about some historical events in both the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. In general, the realization that the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and our history began from this place inspires reverence for this place. Parking is nearby, not very big. The parking lot has a small museum of antiques and a souvenir shop where you can buy coffee
The historical value is completely spoiled by the modern approach to the issue of restoration. They could not get into the territory, as repair work is underway. The place is atmospheric. Nearby there are souvenir shops and a park where you can relax in the shade
It's not worth going to Novogrudok for this ruin. But there is a beautiful church and an art gallery. Beautiful view in summer. In winter, it is a draughty castle hill.
To be honest, it's far from a tourist destination yet. We were on March 8th. In about 10 minutes, we walked around, looked at everything from different angles, and... that's it. Then just wander around the city ..
The ruins are being restored. It can be seen that once it was a full-fledged castle. You can check it out, at the same time walk around the city center, it's beautiful there.
We haven't been to the castle for twenty years. And so, on the 980th anniversary of Novogrudok, we got to the historical reconstruction in the "Castle Bowl", as I understand the name of the castle complex, which we undertook thoroughly. The work of the reenactors was impressive. The corner part of the wall has been completed. An imitation of the castle wall is laid out completely around the perimeter, hence the association with the bowl. In short, you need to go and enjoy yourself on the spot.
It's a nice town, nice, clean. The remains of the castle are trying to revive into some kind of normal object, judging by the multitude of building materials inside the enclosed space with a new wall. And yes, it's better that way than the remnants will crumble completely.
A place of great history. Nicely. Restoration is underway. It is very right that we decided to restore it. It will be atmospheric. After all, the first capital.
There is little left of the castle itself, but the place is simply wonderful in its beauty and picturesqueness! Go to the observation deck at the ruins of the castle and the church, get real pleasure! There are parking spaces, coffee shops, the city itself is small, everything is very intimate.
The antiquity of the remains of the castle is impressive ; but it will not be possible to approach and examine it well ; I really liked the view of the remains of the castle from the side of the ancient Novogrudok church , which is no less interesting and old
Well, that's a big word! So the ruins, and besides, the entrance is paid. There's nothing to look at! Everything is destroyed before us! 😂 In general, there is nothing to worry about, compared to a mundane castle!
We visited Novogrudok Castle in May 2024. At that time, reconstruction work was underway there and therefore access to the old walls was closed.
My impressions were twofold. On the one hand, it is interesting to see how the castle looked in ancient times (part of the wall has already been restored). On the other hand, a new model, he is a new model.
I hope that the part of the tower that has an authentic look will not be restored "beyond recognition"...
Although it's a ruin, it's worth stopping by if you drive your car. Especially if you are moving towards Lida from the side of Nesvizh and Mir. Right on the way.
An interesting place, a lot of things have been restored, the children are bored with the overview of the castle, but they really liked climbing its towers. There will be a top for adults!!
It was not possible to approach the castle itself, repair work is underway to restore it. They are being restored for the city day. Castle Hill can be walked around in a circle. There is an observation deck. There is a burial mound of Adam Mickiewicz near the castle hill.
While the reconstruction is underway, they are not allowed inside the territory. It's worth coming in a couple of years. There are beautiful views of nature around, beautiful churches, churches. There is an interesting gallery of a local artist opposite the castle.
This is the place...our story...this elevation is incomparable to anything..Reconstruction is still underway..There's not much left. We are waiting for a complete restoration
I was not particularly impressed, although I travel a lot to some places. This castle is in the last place in my rating - nothing special and impressive, because the walls of stones and red bricks were ruined by the new construction. In my opinion, there are many much better places in Belarus. But if you're going to drive by, then yes you can
