The New Athos Cave is one of the largest in Abkhazia, named after the city of New Athos.
A local resident discovered the cave on July 14, 1961, under the slope of the Iverskaya Mountain.
One of the eleven halls of the cave, the Givi Smyr Hall, was named after him.
Since 1975, 9 of the 11 halls of the cave, located at a depth of 183 meters, are accessible to tourists.
The temperature in the cave is +11 all year round.
You can get on the tour by buying a train ticket for the smallest metro.
As the group is formed, with a guide, you will walk along the hiking trail 2 km on foot, which is about 1.5 hours.
During the walk you will not feel tired and bored!
The place is wonderful, unforgettable, I definitely recommend visiting it!
By train, as in the subway, our group plunged into this amazing cave. It's good that, on the advice of the guide, I took a jacket: it's cool here, especially since the tour was not fleeting. The stunning views and transitions to a sad folk song accompanied by an excellent guide are unforgettable. I advise you to join the beauties.
It is a very beautiful and unusual place. However, organizing an excursion to the cave is quite exhausting - due to the large number of groups, transitions between halls take a long time.
Delight... the day before yesterday we visited 6 halls.. indescribable beauty and power.. the route lasted 1.5 hours.. Very cool..I recommend

A very interesting place! I recommend a visit. You need to understand that when you visit on your own, there may not be tickets, because Abkhazians buy up in advance for excursions ...
So come early.
Miraculously, we got there at 13:10. It's considered late....
It's an amazing place. A must-visit in the tourist program. A good tour, beautiful views. Very good infrastructure. I haven't seen anything like it anywhere yet.
You can visit, but for an amateur, it's dark, damp, cold but beautiful, many people in our tour group are completely tired, you won't get help, the guide said what to do with you now, why did you come here, something like that.
It's a very interesting place. I have never seen stalactites in my life, but here I looked at them up close. The volume of the cave itself is impressive, I advise you to visit!

We expected the best from the tour. But it's worth going once.
Oh, that's something!!! The impressions of her visit are huge. There are several halls with stoloknits, stolognats, underground lakes, and a stone waterfall is generally something. Multicolored backlights are made to enhance the beauty. It's a shame that we didn't get into the acoustic hall with the performance of the Abzaz choir. Definitely worth a visit!!! The only advice is to bring warm clothes with you or, in the absence of one, at least a plaid... When the heat is + 30 outside, the temperature in the cave is no more than 8-10 degrees. The kids are cool. The tour is very interesting. Abkhazia is the whole fairy tale. 5 points.
Well, it's a pleasure. It's cool and damp. Not particularly interesting. There is a private subway. I won't go a second time. We went there with the whole family.
