The room was damp, it was not possible to set up an air dryer. Otherwise, everything is wonderful. The hotel itself is luxurious, there is a wonderful free tour, a good pool, but the most important location is of course. In the bar downstairs, they try to force you to pay with a card, but if you insist, they accept it in pesos. The cabaret was not very impressive.
One of the sightseeing attractions of Havana. A respectable hotel. Furniture from the 30s is in excellent condition. The rooms are spacious. A buffet of local products. There is no porridge. A large selection of desserts. An omelette or scrambled eggs will be made with you. A large selection of fruits. In the courtyard of the hotel there is a large recreation area with a bar and a playground for musicians. Peacocks and roosters are walking. They wake everyone up in the morning. There is a music program every evening. This hotel has a room where the Parisien show is shown. You can pay with a Mir card.
This is a very old hotel, it was built in the 30s, but this is only its advantage, since the state is doing everything to preserve it and make it according to modern standards. It is under the protection of Unesco. Location on the Atlantic Ocean, gorgeous view from the window. All the mafiosi of the past years stayed there)) I definitely recommend it even just for general development!!!
It's a very colorful place. It's like something out of an old American gangster movie. However, they were there before the revolution. Like many great people, as evidenced by the photos in the bar. A monumental building with a beautiful territory on a hill with two giant cannons pointing at the bay. I would call the interior "remnants of former luxury". They say there is a good cigar store. This hotel is definitely worth a visit. Next time I'll take a room for at least a day.
An old hotel that itself remained in the 30s.
Initially, we moved to the second floor - the noise of air conditioners, a view of the courtyard, bare tiles throughout the room and wild cold mixed with humidity. The watering can in the shower did not work, you had to wait at least 10 minutes for hot water.
Breakfast on the 1st floor, buffet - all meat is not edible except ham, eggs are normal, fruits are not ripe.
There are peacocks, chickens and roosters on the territory, rotten guns of those years and... everything. Ah, there are several more restaurants that deceive tourists on prices, exchange dollars for pesos at a fictitious and fake peso exchange rate, and also no one knows English. The food is also not edible, but it is not critically bad either
The drinks are either alcohol, lemonade or water.
Later we moved to the 6th floor - conditions are much better here, ocean views, carpet on top of tiles, drier air and simply an unrealistic number of cockroaches. They were everywhere…
Moreover, on the 6th floor, the problem with hot water disappeared
Breakfasts were also held on the 6th floor - there is a separate buffet with a more delicious and varied selection, but again, I did not eat so little and so tasteless anywhere except Cuba.
Service 2/10, rooms -10/10, the condition of the hotel is 3/10.
Locals walk around the hotel, musicians are beggars, taxis from the hotel are traded from 11 thousand pesos to 6 per minute of conversation, etc., the hotel territory is unkempt, a lot of garbage and in places stinks of sewage.
There is nothing to do here at all, there is nothing to pay for, there are more decent five-star hotels in Havana where there is no smell of mold mixed with chemicals and people communicate normally. In addition to all this, check-out is at 12, and you are disconnected from Wi-Fi at 5-6 in the morning. After visiting 5 * in Varadero, it immediately becomes clear that this hotel has already outlived itself and for me personally is the worst place where I rested. Price ≠ quality, there is no smell of five stars here…
It's not often that we can become part of history. This is, without exaggeration, a legendary hotel, its walls remember a lot and have seen truly iconic personalities. A museum where you can stay overnight. The thrill of just walking through the corridors, foyer and room of this place. For the atmosphere, involvement, authenticity, you can close your eyes to some dilapidation and related nuances. I remember the wall with photos of famous visitors and the unafraid peacocks pacing the lawns near the hotel.
An old hotel, dilapidated rooms. The rooms have not been renovated for many years, all plumbing is in poor condition. The curtains had absorbed so much dust that it was not very pleasant to approach them to open or close them. They did not put any toiletries at all, only after the incident in the form of Alenka's chocolate bar, soap and shampoo were brought. The only thing I liked about the room was the soft and clean bed. Another terrible thing was that cockroaches were running around in the room. Upon arrival home, I had to shake all the things out of the suitcase on the street so as not to bring cockroaches, suddenly they got into the suitcase. The breakfasts are meager, again eggs, omelette and so some cuts. The inner hall is very beautiful, which gave the first impression of the elite of this hotel.
The hotel is beautiful for its old age. You can walk around like in a museum... I liked it, they deliberately settled in it...The Paris show that takes place in it! (the Tropicana analogue, alas, did not like some kind of naphthalene, everyone is trying, but with choreography (not to be confused with spelling! she's limping a lot) trouble. But you definitely need to go. How to get there? Just change the bucks for pesos (on the black market, they took 260 for a dollar from me) and before the show you buy before the start from the show administrator-for 3800 pesos instead of 37 dollars!, that's the deal.
So, I visited this hotel for the second time. We lived with a view of the city, we asked for 25 euros for an ocean view for one night. The staff is trying. Very strongly "smells" of history) Breakfast is normal. There was no hair dryer in the room, they reported and after 15 minutes a new hair dryer was installed. It was a shame to come back at night and find a few cockroaches in the bathroom! Having sent them to the cockroach deity, no followers were found. In general, not bad)
Beautiful place! The hotel was opened in 1930. Many famous people lived in it. If you don't have a room booked, you can just go in and see the interiors!
