Great idea, great place. It's a small museum the size of one room, but everything looks beautiful, and admission is free. A building with a local flavor. I would like to add more information about the tortillas, including in Russian. If you're nearby, it's definitely worth a visit! It will take 5 minutes, but beautiful photos are provided. Considering that admission is free, definitely like it!
🍞 The bread Museum on a new tourist street in Tashkent. The bread of Uzbekistan is on display, that is, tortillas from different regions: two-kilogram Samarkand, Zaaminsky baked in a cauldron, cookie tortilla from Kokand, huge and flat as pancakes tortillas from Khorezm and Nukus.
The museum opened on May 3, 2024 on the tourist street Khakikat passage in the mahalla near Chorsu, while there is no sign. The museum is located in a building with a green dome and a wooden ivan.
If you go from the arch from the beginning of the street from the national Drama Theater, then the Bread Museum will be at the very end, the street will end up in a building with an ivan and a dome, if you go from the mosque, then the Museum is right behind the square.
Admission to the museum is free. They promise to do master classes later, as long as you can see the tortillas themselves, a small tandoor and the tools of the tortilla baker.
✅The tortillas are exposed dried, one in one, as they are prepared in the regions. Except for the Nukus flatbread, I have seen and tasted all the flatbreads myself, since I have been in all these areas and I can confirm that they are exactly like that.
I recommend visiting, especially if you are on Chorsu or on the most tourist street or on a tour of the Kukaldosh madrasah, it's all nearby. A 10-minute cursory inspection will be interesting for both adults and children from Uzbekistan and guests.
Of the minuses (not critical, but I will note)
- there is no separate toilet in the museum
- the inscriptions are only in Uzbek, although the name of most regions makes it clear what kind of flatbread we are talking about
- there is no sale of various tortillas in any store near the museum. It would be interesting to buy tortillas from different regions after viewing.
