After a month, with a cold head and a hot heart, I am ready to write a review about my stay at the Ayan 4-star hotel. Spoiler alert: 4 stars don't smell there.
We settled as a family (2 adults and a child) for 7 days, 6 nights.
My husband and I booked the room three weeks before the check-in date. There were supposed to be apparatuses with a kitchen inside + breakfast included. Large spacious room with a beautiful view. There is a swimming pool on site. There are three of us: me, my husband + a one-year-old child.
On the day of check-in, we found out that we were settled in the wrong room that we had booked for 430€.
Room: medium room with three beds (double and single, there was dust and some garbage under the beds), wardrobe, mirror, air conditioning, TV (+cable), hair dryer.
Walk-through room:sofa, refrigerator, exit to the balcony. Balcony: table, two chairs, a bottle of 5 liters for collecting water from the air conditioner.
Shower+toilet+sink with mirror (for tall). There is liquid hand soap, toilet paper and half a large bottle of chamomile shampoo for hair. Laundry basket.
6 towels.
And everything.
While we were freaking out from the discrepancy, the father-in-law asked us to bring a stove and a saucepan to our room so that we could cook dinner for the child. They brought it.
Breakfast. The next day from 8 to 10 we were asked to come down for breakfast. At first I was happy, there was a large assortment of my favorite dishes:
Fried eggplants, ustipets (ordinary and sweet), eggs, cucumbers, tomatoes, fresh bread, cheese, sweet cupcake, melon, watermelon, fried sausages, milk, coffee from the machine (the quality is below average).
My joy ended on the 4th day, because the menu did not change, from the word at all. The smell and appearance of the same food made it bad (although it is fresh), just if you eat borscht every day, then it will cease to be loved.
The room is not cleaned! To a direct question: when will the cleaning be done? I received an answer: every second day, when no one came on the second day, the readings changed: if you do not leave the keys at the reception before leaving the room and do not ask for it, then they will not come to you to clean. It's the same story with towels. You bring dirty ones, you get clean ones. No one himself will ask from the staff whether it is necessary to change the towel.
On the third day of living in the room (when late in the evening I had to go to look for the owners and figure out why everything was still not cleaned) we found out that the toilet is very bad with sewage. It stinks as if someone is pissing into all the drain holes for a liter of urine while we are away. There's nothing you can do about it, just cleaning, well, maybe it would help to pour vinegar.
Because we were settled in the wrong place where we paid (according to the quadrature, the number is also smaller). The Albanian hosts met us halfway in any matter. You can give a package of things for washing and they comprehend everything, room cleaning at 22: 00 without questions, free breakfast for the father-in-law (he checked into another hotel without incl. Breakfast). On request, any dishes were given. On the day of departure, he even gave us his room so that we could return to them at a pleasant price (no thanks). They promised that they could leave at any time, and not before 10 am as usual - they did not keep their promise here, the cleaners began to drive us in Albanian, we understood from the context.
The owners. A family contract of Albanians from Ulcinj. That business option, when you invested the minimum, and now you get the maximum. Men do business. A man meets and explains in Serbian (and maybe English) with a suspended merchant's language, explains everything how what works and where what is, he has two more brothers, they speak Albanian (take a phone with an interpreter)
What I will say in summary. There are a lot of offers, especially at the end of the season. You can come to the sea and rent any hotel on the day of arrival, at a pleasant price, without overpaying. At least you'll see right away what you're paying for.
On Booking.com The hotel has a 9.2 rating and excellent reviews. We booked a suite of 50m2 with a balcony for the period from 06/13/2021 to 06/22/2021. We arrived after 23 hours, there was an agreement with the owners of the hotel that they would wait for us, received the key and tired went into the room. It immediately caught my eye that the size of the room does not correspond to 50m2 in any way, there is no double sofa in the living room, as stated on the hotel's website, and the living room itself as such, there is no safe, bidet, bathrobes, slippers, iron, kitchen utensils, mosquito nets. Judging by the photos that we studied when choosing a room, we were settled in an ordinary double room with an area of 30m2 with a balcony inclusive, and not in a suite with an area of 50m2. It was not possible to immediately clarify the issue of another room category, and the host could not be found. The next day, our questions about the compliance of our pre-paid reservation at an irrevocable rate with the received room and its equipment were answered that the room corresponds, we made a little mistake with the footage, no one promised bathrobes and slippers, a safe at the reception desk, etc., if something does not suit, we can go to other hotels and money No one is going to return it. I had to stay. A room of 30m2 is quite normal if you book it and do not expect more with a separate bedroom, a small sofa, a comfortable bed, air conditioning, a mini fridge, a kettle, a spacious balcony. The hair dryer is quite powerful. The kitchen area is equipped with an electric stove in the complete absence of kitchen utensils except for two glasses and two coffee cups with saucers, two spoons and a coffee cup. The wardrobe is small with 4 hangers, it is problematic to place two people's clothes. In the bathroom, half a liter container with shampoo and half a bottle of liquid soap is a set of toiletries, since daily cleaning is not provided, toilet paper must be requested from the administrator (we immediately bought normal quality). The hosts prepare the breakfasts themselves, the homemade version, the photo does not match. In principle, they are quite acceptable, there are cereals, cheese, sausages, several types of cupcakes, fried vegetables of a couple of types, bottled sweet drinks, a coffee machine, a cooler with cold and hot water, bread. On the 5th day I got tired. We used the parking lot because we were in a car. The pool is small, not used. Beach towels were not provided. The nearest beach is about 2 km away on foot. We drove further away to Copacabana beach with fewer vacationers. Views from the hotel either to the neighboring building, or to the backyard or to the construction site.
Upon arrival home, we were going to leave a review on Booking.com However, we received a message that on 06/22/2021 on the day of departure from the hotel our reservation was canceled, we did not arrive at the hotel! We got through to the representative Booking.com We described the whole situation and received the answer that unscrupulous hoteliers thus avoid negative reviews of their hotels and services. Booking.com He promised to collect the difference in room rates from the hotel. We're waiting.
The renovation of this hotel was probably carried out in Soviet times. The air conditioner is made so that there is always a flood on the balcony. In this regard, there is a canister for collecting water. The shower cabin is made so that you will definitely lean one side of your body against the walls - it is somewhere 40-50 cm. Cleaning has never been carried out in a week. The breakfasts are the exact opposite of the photos. When they started making claims, they simply canceled our booking on Booking so that we could not leave a bad review.
I completely agree with the previous reviews . Natalia wrote everything correctly. They also beg to give them top marks at the Booking . The only thing without comments is breakfast at their place.
