The monastery of Simonopetra stands at an altitude of 330 meters above sea level, on top of a rocky mountain range and looks like it is floating.Its founder was the Monk Simon, who asceticized on Mount Athos in the middle of the thirteenth century.The saint lived as a hermit in a small cave that has been preserved to this day.One Christmas night, he had a revelation from the Queen of Heaven to build a monastery on a high steep cliff, open on three sides.All the invited masters refused.Then the Monk Simon decided to treat them to wine before leaving.The novice slipped in front of everyone and flew into the abyss with a tray and glasses of wine.The Monk Simon prayed to the Most Pure Virgin and a miracle happened.The novice not only returned unharmed, but did not even spill the wine from the glasses.Then the workers built a monastery, and some of them took monastic vows in the new monastery.That's such an incredible story.With all the greatness of the Mother of God, she is the first helper and intercessor, always by our side in all difficult situations.Sincerely, Gordeeva E.V.
