Samtavro is a wonderful monastery.
Clean area, it's great that there is drinking water at the entrance!
Convenient parking for a car.
A blessed place!!!
We were inside. I really liked everything.
And the apartment was rented with a view of the monastery.
The ringing of bells was heard at the same time.
Probably a call to prayer.
Everything is wonderful!
To describe the monasteries and temples in Georgia, one review is not enough, these are just gorgeous places, with a special nature, a special style (all buildings of 4-6 centuries), made of beautiful stones and an unusually beautiful sky. We went to Georgia in September to visit holy places, each place left its own special episode in life. As it turned out, Samtavro has the most pilgrims, because of our modern Saint Gabriel Urgebadze. By the grace of God, we have visited these holy places.
The temple acts as the tomb of the first rulers of Georgia, the remains of King Mirian and his wife Nino are buried here. Many centuries ago, they converted to Christianity with the help of Saint Nina, who, according to legend, converted the entire Georgian people to the faith in 324, the name Samtavro translates as "royal territory". The common area includes the Transfiguration Cathedral, the bell towers of the Mongolian era, the Church of St. Nino. In the center of the city, the shrine is clearly visible at Svetitskhoveli. The history of the shrine dates back to the 4th century and is directly related to Saint Nina. The Samtavr monastery keeps many memories and objects related to the personality of the man who is now called Saint Gabriel of Samtavia, part of the life-giving table is located here, the relics of Saints Abibos of Nekres and Shio of Mgvim are kept, the miraculous icon of St. Nino, the miraculous icon of the Iverian Mother of God, you can also see part of the stone and the grave of St. Nino.
An active convent, the spiritual center of Georgia! It was in this monastery that the most famous Georgian saint in Russia, our contemporary, the Monk Gabriel of Samtavria (Urgebadze), asceticized, his holy relics are located in the Transfiguration Cathedral, a very majestic and ancient Temple. I highly recommend you to visit!
It is magnificent, beautiful, quite monumental, refined and well maintained. I consider this place a must-visit. We came from Yerevan by car, the road is quite comfortable by local standards, I don't remember how long to drive, but not for long. We examined everything in no more than an hour and went to see the next attraction.
We always visit this monastery, being in Georgia, to venerate the holy relics of St. Gabriel Urgebadze. If you are in Mtskheta, be sure to visit this monastery.
Samtavro was founded in the IV century and has a rich history. It is associated with early Christianity in Georgia and is considered to be the place where Saint Nino, the enlightener of Georgia, was buried.
The monastery is actively functioning, monks live here, who lead a spiritual life and receive pilgrims. Visitors can participate in worship services and receive blessings.
It's a very impressive place. Father Gabriel Urgebadze (known in Georgia as Mama Gabriele) rests there. There are many pilgrims from all over the world.
Samtavro is not just a word, it is not just a monastery. This is a place where you want to come again and again. And if you find yourself in Georgia, be sure to visit Father Gabriel. The love and kindness of Father Gabriel reigns in this monastery.
The monastery is located in the town of Mtskheta, 25 km from Tbilisi. The monastery is active, one of the three shrines of Christianity in Georgia. The foundation was founded in 332. The city is located at the confluence of two rivers Aragvi and Kura.
A unique, spiritually rich place! Salted. This monastery houses the relics of Saints Abibos of Nekres, the relics of Saints Shio of Mgvim and Gabriel of Samtavria. Pay attention to buses with tourists, when it is better to wait out a lot of tourists, but otherwise it is very sincere and pleasant. You can collect holy water on the territory, right next to the gate.
A magical place. We have found a new Defender of the family - St. Gabriel of Samtauria. We got to Sunday service on forgiveness Sunday. Although the service was in Georgian, but everything was clear to the heart, the relics of the elder gave a feeling of the presence of the Monk next to him. The soul rejoiced and shed tears of joy. A very strong place.
The monasteries in Georgia are very beautiful and it is worth seeing this miracle. So much work has been put into these buildings. I want to believe that they will be saved by this great treasure of the country.
I miraculously visited Samtavro today! I thank Father Gabriele for helping me get to such a blessed place! A church shop, a museum, a chapel, a spring with holy water, everything is accessible and amazingly beautiful! 🙏🏻☀️
"I'm waiting for you in Samtavro." It is always a pleasure to visit this namolennoe place, located in Mtskheta. Grace is great there! Saint Gabriel will always help and is waiting for all Christians! A great quick-helper, like St. Nicholas!🙏🙏🙏
It was the second time to worship the 20th century saint Gabriel Urgebadze. The first one was in 2019, when I found out about it. Recently, I saw an icon of this saint in the Novodevichy Monastery.
The most intimate place !!!! I will come more than once! Huge greetings to Mother Ioanna! We were going to the relics of Father Gabriel Urgebadze! Thank God for everything!
A very beautiful monastery, where the relics of the famous Saint Gabriel of Samtavria (Uregbadze) rest. The monastery is worth a visit, especially considering its proximity to Svetitskhoveli.
A few years ago,
Where they merge, they make noise,
Hugging like two sisters,
Streams of Aragva and Chickens,
There was a monastery. Because of the mountain
And now a pedestrian sees it
The pillars of the collapsed gate,
Both the towers and the church vault...
My favorite monastery in Georgia!
There are no words to describe the incredible grace of this holy monastery.
Here are the relics of our beloved St. Gabriel Urgebadze.❤
It's hard to find the words... Tears of emotion flow only from the mere memory of the visit! The Lord is merciful, and we managed to visit Georgia twice in 2023....Samtavro - heaven on earth!!!!Father Gabriel is the greatest Miracle Worker !!! ♥️Go who reads this review!!!!!!..
A sacred place. I get goosebumps from the energy inside. And you feel that it is important here not to be good, not to be obedient, but just to be who you are!!! Lord, take care of Georgia 🙏
