It is a very beautiful monumental structure. This minaret is considered a symbol of Bukhara. At the foot of the Kalyan Minaret are located the Miri Arab Madrasah and the Kalyan Mosque, which together form an architectural ensemble. Many legends are associated with the tallest minaret in Central Asia, the Kalyan Minaret in Bukhara. The Kalyan Minaret is a large Tower, but it has another name – the Tower of Death, as people condemned by the khan used to be thrown from it. Many legends are connected with the girls who were executed on the orders of the khan.
It is a very beautiful monumental structure. This minaret is considered a symbol of Bukhara. At the foot of the Kalyan minaret are located the Miri Arab Madrasah and the Kalyan Mosque, which together form an architectural ensemble. Next to the minaret is the kunzhak women's hammam, an architectural monument of the 16th century, which is under state protection. This hammam is still in operation. Going inside, you are instantly transported to an oriental fairy tale, you feel the spirit of that century!
It's a very beautiful place, a colorful square, and there are a lot of souvenir shops around. The people are very friendly. Not far away, by the pond with fountains, Labi Havuz is a restaurant with excellent food, and very inexpensive
The minaret is beautiful. In general, the historical part of Bukhara is very interesting and beautiful. But most importantly, the atmosphere. Monuments, lighting, crowds of multilingual tourists, restaurants, music. It's a very pleasant place.
A very cool historical place, beautiful, without any pathos. You can come here at any time of the day and it is always beautiful 😻
For fans of photo shoots, come here.
In the evening at sunset and a little later, when the backlight is turned on, it is especially beautiful. You can walk, sit, enjoy the view. Romantic, although it is the tower of death.
The legend of the Kalyan Minaret
Many legends are associated with the tallest minaret in Central Asia – the Kalyan Minaret, in Bukhara. The Kalyan Minaret is a large Tower, but it has another name – the Tower of Death, since people convicted by the khan used to be thrown off it. Many legends are associated with girls who were executed on the orders of the khan.
One of these legends says that in ancient times there lived a shah. He was cruel and wayward. He was a bad ruler, and he spent all his time enjoying himself. The shah had a wife who tried to help people and fix the situation in the state. But, being afraid of her husband, she did it in secret. One day, the secret was revealed and the angry shah ordered his wife to be thrown from the Tower of Death. The heroine was an intelligent woman. On the eve of her execution, she asked her husband to fulfill her last wish. He agreed. On the day of the execution, the shahina put on all her dresses and skirts and climbed the tower with her head held high. All the people gathered around the minaret to see off their beloved ruler. The wise woman calmly stood on the edge of the minaret and jumped down. The people froze, but at the same moment shouts were heard in the crowd: "Oh, a miracle!" The woman did not die, because her dresses inflated with a parachute and gently lowered her down to the ground. Paying tribute to his wife's courage and ingenuity, the shah canceled the execution.
One of the main attractions of Bukhara. There are many others within walking distance. We got to a free evening concert of classical music conducted by Spivakov. All this is right on the square with the illuminated walls of the madrasah! It was a complete delight!
It's a very beautiful place. The minaret is one of the symbols of Bukhara. It is part of the Poi-Kalon ensemble. It is best to explore during sunset. The Ark Citadel is 200 meters away. In general, almost all the sights of Bukhara are located in one place. You can watch absolutely everything in 3 hours.
The most important thing is that this attraction is free! Pleasantly surprised! Reconstruction is underway (April 2025).Colorful music plays beautifully, especially at night...
The highest A minor in Asia. The history of the creation and the intricacies of the construction of this minaret are very impressive. We definitely need a guide. The history of all the attractions is very interesting!
An impressive structure. It's all lacy, like it's knitted. The age is impressive - 900 years old. A beautiful legend about Genghis Khan, who had to take off his hat in front of this minaret. The whole complex is beautiful, with a madrasah. The coolest place in Bukhara. On the way, you can go to a cool tea shop in the alleys and try different types of tea with spices. And then go up to the observation deck of the fortress. And from there, take beautiful photos with this minaret.
Bukhara is a colorful city for the second time in May, I went there and there are many more places that I still want to visit, although I was there for four days, I didn't have time to enjoy that beauty, I was in the old town and visited a family coffee shop, to say that I tasted delicious coffee, it's not very divine, that's right, I don't remember the name now, but for the sake of This coffee is also worth coming there 😉👌
This is exactly the place that Bukhara is associated with!
It enchants and is beautiful at any time of the day, in any weather. Everyone who visits the minaret will experience admiration for the architecture, grandeur and beauty!!
Kalon minaret is a symbol of the city of Bukhara..Located in the old city of Bukhara, the Kalyan Mosque is flourishing and is a unique architectural structure of the Middle Ages, which was built in 1121. In 1512, the construction began anew and was completed by the middle of the 19th century..
It's a great place, it gets lively in the evening.Nearby there are a couple of excellent cafes worthy of attention. The evening lighting is just great, perfect for a photo shoot.
A great hotel for a couple of nights, a wonderful buffet breakfast with a wide range, a comfortable bed, silence in the rooms. A huge plus is the presence of an open restaurant with darstankhans on the roof of the hotel, which offers stunning views of the old town and the KALON MINARET, which is literally within walking distance (100 meters). In the evening, the views of the illuminated old town are simply FABULOUS! It is especially worth noting the charming staff of the hotel - responsive and attentive. Thank you for the oriental fairy tale!!!
Perhaps the most remarkable place in the city. A real lighthouse that keeps you from getting lost. Very beautiful architectural lighting allows you to take unique photos.
A very beautiful tall minaret. We lived right under it, and it looks amazing in the evening. It's very atmospheric to leave the guest house on a cool evening, when the sun is no longer scorching, with a hot cup of tea in your hand, and look at all the details of the masonry around the perimeter of the tower
Very beautiful! Bukhara is the pearl of Uzbekistan! The old town has not lost its authenticity, most of the attractions are within walking distance of each other.
It is a very atmospheric and beautiful building. It pleases the eye both in the afternoon and in the evening. But it's especially beautiful in the evening when the backlight turns on. Definitely worth coming at different times of the day
One of the main attractions of Bukhara. The monument is majestic and decorated with different masonry levels. The tallest minaret in Bukhara. According to legend, Tamerlane "took off his hat" in front of him, when he looked up, the hat fell off his head. Although maybe this is an invented legend.
Almost 1000 years of history. Beauty, scale, grandeur, and we are like a grain of sand in this abyss of time. A bright and joyful place, it's worth discussing the meaning of life after visiting the sights on the terrace opposite - beautiful views of the roofs of the old town are provided.
One of the outstanding architectural works. This place is a must-visit, especially in the evening or at night. The area has excellent conditions for walking, relaxing and shopping.
It is a very magnificent building, and it is not for nothing that it is the hallmark of Bukhara. History is felt everywhere. It is advisable to have a competent guide with stories and details.
I love the architecture of Central Asia. The Kalyan Minaret is perhaps the symbol of Bukhara and the highest architectural monument, as well as it is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Ancient Bukhara, a frozen oriental fairy tale! I fell in love with Bukhara! We had a very good weekend. The wonderful history of the minaret, ask around.
Kalyan is cool. This is the only minaret that we remember the name of)))) a great reference point for meetings and just a landmark- it is visible from almost everywhere))
The sights of Bukhara below the 5th check-in will not raise a hand to put. We went with friends, were wildly delighted with a lot of positive emotions and new discoveries for ourselves.
A truly fabulous place.
It's like fairy tales come to life from the pages of the Scheherizade.
Atmospheric, magical, cozy.
Illuminated, the minaret is transformed, but at dawn it is no less beautiful.
To get beautiful photos, it is better to come around 6-7 in the morning or after 23 o'clock.
It's impressive, and the view from below and above is gorgeous, it's worth considering there are a lot of visitors in the season and you need to expect a queue to climb, because 5-6 people are allowed in, but that's a lot, because it's very cramped and very steep stairs.
Sooo atmospheric!
The abbot strongly recommends that you go with a guide, you can learn more with him and go further.
Do not forget about the form of clothing - shoulders, elbows, knees, and for a girl, even her head should be covered!!!
And where can I find the words to describe this incredible beauty? Probably there are no such words! Definitely welcome to visit if you are in the beautiful ancient city of Bukhara!
The place is stunning in beauty and energy, the illumination of architectural masterpieces in the evening is competently and tastefully decorated in a modern way!
If you are going to Uzbekistan, be sure to visit!
Sit on the balcony of a coffee shop and look down on everyone. Sit down in a restaurant and order a beer. Relax and have fun. Let them go on excursions, but not you.
This is the minaret of the Friday mosque. It was built in 1127 from high-strength burnt brick with a height of 46.5 m. The tallest and oldest building in Bukhara. It is included in the UNESCO list. It has reached our days in almost unchanged form. Even Genghis Khan, who captured and destroyed Bukhara in 1220, did not raise his hand to destroy this stone miracle. The minaret served not only as a religious building, but also as a watchtower and a lighthouse, which was used to navigate in the desert. It was partially destroyed by the Red Army, at the time of the voluntary annexation of Turkestan to Russia, and is now restored and is the pearl not only of the city, but of the whole of Uzbekistan. A light airy minaret, as if soaring into the sky. The delicate delicate stone tracery on its walls attracts the eye. No matter how many times I passed by, I couldn't help but stop, I couldn't help but admire. One of the wonders that will never be erased from memory.
I read a legend about this tower, but when I saw this structure, I realized that it was just a beautiful legend. Impressive, beautiful, I advise you to see
The central place and, as I believe, the business card of Bukhara. Everything is beautiful neat clean and crowded,
The photo in Yandex turned out exactly like ours, but I can't attach it because it has faces
