Most guidebooks describe the Mihrimah Sultan Mosque and its adjacent architectural complex, located in Istanbul's Fatih district on top of the Sixth Hill. However, there is another Mosque in Istanbul, Mihrimah Sultan, which is located in the Uskudar district. The mosque was designed and built by architect Mimar Sinan, who is unrequitedly in love with Mihrimah Sultan. In my opinion, only a man who was truly in love could create such beauty. When you enter a Mosque, the first feeling that comes over you is light, lace, lightness, tenderness! It is impossible to describe all the emotions. You just have to silently admire this splendor! Personally, I liked this mosque the most!
The mosque is not as grandiose as the main pearls of Mimar Sinan, but it is very beautiful inside. They say Sinan was in love with the Sultan's daughter and asked for her hand in marriage, but when she was 17, he was over 50. Two of his creations, mosques dedicated to Mihrimah Sultan, are located on different shores of the Bosphorus, this one on the Asian side, the second on the European side. Must-see.
The mosque is next to the Uskyudar marina ( opposite across the street, there are also 15 buses towards the sights listed below. Very beautiful both inside and out. It is a must-visit if you plan to travel from Uskyudar to 1. Nakkashtepe Park, 2. Beylerbeyi Palace Museum, 3. Kuzgunjuk, 4. Chamlidzha Mosque. The mosque has free toilets outside.
