It feels strange. It's not particularly attractive at the international level, especially the arrival area, but on the other hand, everything is nearby and in quick access. While you are going through customs clearance, your luggage is already waiting for you with impatience.
An ordinary airport, there is no point in talking about comfort, there is simply no air conditioning in the waiting room, given the rather high temperature outside. The hall is small. Night flights, for example, to Almaty, it is very uncomfortable to fly with young children.
The airport begins with a parking lot for cars, with intensive flights, as a rule, there are no places on it and you have to make circles, when carrying a suitcase to the airport there are steps and sharp transitions everywhere, you constantly have to lift suitcases. The airport staff are polite, welcoming and attentive, and it is pleasant for newly arrived guests.
I was "lucky" to arrive in Shymkent, a cold, small airport, there is no waiting room. My husband met us, he had to stand in the cold because they wouldn't let us in.
My son and I also froze while we were waiting for customs control.
Please note, I only rate the airport, not the city itself and its residents.
I wish residents and guests of Shymkent a nice, spacious and warm airport
A small airport. It may be good in itself, but customer service services are not working well. For example, they wanted to know when boarding begins, so airport staff generally treat visitors indifferently.
Well, what can I say when passengers are taken to the plane in a bus in which the handles are tied with tape, the air conditioner is forgotten, and the bus itself is about to fall apart. And apparently there is no second big bus, because the second bus is customized in the form of an urban two-door semi-low floor (!!!) A Yutong without air conditioning, with burned-out lamps and generally it is not clear where it came from.
We were at this airport in connection with a transfer. It was necessary to walk for 6 hours before the next flight, but, imagine, there is no luggage storage at this airport, although the airport is in transit!!! I had to arrange at the mini-store to leave my luggage for a while, and not go to the city with it. And then, we were warned that the shift shift at 12 may be closed, then we will have to wait. This is terrible
I really liked the courtyard in front of the airport, a small and pretty airport. You will definitely find a way out and an entrance, everything is clear. It's nice to come to a city where it's warm)))
Not the most comfortable airport.
It is very rare to meet staff at the information desk who can ask a question, there are few seats in the waiting room
We left on 03/02/24 by Aeroflot airline. Due to the clock change, the flight was postponed an hour earlier, there were no notifications about it, and we decided that everything would be on schedule.
In general, we arrived at the airport 10 minutes before the check-in deadline. Thanks to the Aeroflot team and personally to Nikolai (I hope I was not mistaken in the name), they helped with all the difficulties, with problematic luggage, and treated the situation very well. We also got very good seats on the planes (we flew with a transfer).
In general, all airport staff are responsive and friendly! A lot of flights behind my back, I can say that this is a rarity.
With best wishes!
A very small airport for a city of one million people, check-in for flights at one counter in turn for different flights, there are few counters. You will not immediately enter the waiting room until the previous flight departs. If there are several flights in one day, then the waiting room is full.
The girl's performance is very low, especially since the staff of Skat are gathered in the same room and talking, the posadochny asked me to take out the coupon, and the curiosity I saw when I went to the exit білмейді️does not even know how to answer correctly
A city with a million people in a fairly rich country should still have a more modern airport. The territory is well maintained. The terminal and the service are so-so
I flew from Dubai to Shymkent airport twice, but it was a long time ago, last year my sister and her family flew to Turkey, went out to meet my nephew, the airport is changing for the better, but much more needs to be done to bring Shymkent airport to a new level to meet international standards. Good luck to you neighbors!
It's not a big airport, which is convenient, you don't have to run around looking for your flight. The staff is polite and helpful, clean and comfortable, the waiting room is not large, which is very convenient, in a word, not a bad airport. I recommend
Not the port, the passage from the street to the runway. Outdated , unfortunately , mentally and physically, the desire to move to a new port building as soon as possible.
It was an airport in 1974, when it was built by the staff of the Shymkent aviation squadron with their own hands. And now it's a DISGRACE TO THE WHOLE OF KAZAKHSTAN!!!!! During the 33 years of independence, they could not build a normal airport in the country's largest city.
This is not an airport, this is a cattle station
Convenient transportation to the airport - 12 bus. I got out and immediately stopped. If there is no local fare on the phone, and the arrival is at night, the girls at the nearest store will call an inexpensive taxi. Migration control is very long, but it is at all airports.
An old airport (domestic airlines) operating at the limit of its capacity. There are cafes inside the clean zone, but the prices are high.
It takes at least 30 minutes to get to the city, and even more during rush hours.
A very good airport, everyone is good-natured, the only thing is it is small, but there is more service at a small airport than in Almaty, Shymkent deserves to keep it that way.
The staff service is high, the waiting room is well equipped, the waiting time is clear, the halls are clean, the terminals are functioning, the eurocirculation is made, the service is in English and other languages.
Well, everything seems to be intuitively clear there, but it looks more like some kind of railway station than an airport, it is better to arrive there registered and close to departure, the atmosphere does not have to be there

I hope that there will be a new airport in Shymkent soon, but the staff are very attentive and real professionals.

One of the worst airports I've ever been to. It looks more like a small bus station than an international airport. The dining room is located separately, there are no sensible grocery stores or cafes in the building itself. A more or less normal waiting room is only in the international flight area. The rest is a bazaar.
A separate remark to the border guard, who for some reason, asking questions during passport verification and registration, allows himself to "poke" a stranger. I didn't remember his name - he looks like Bishimbayev. With my question about how much cash I was carrying, I probably thought that I would share it with him, hinting at a bribe from scratch. A completely inappropriate question. This has never been asked anywhere. In general, unpleasant types work here.
Those who complain about the old terminal of Almaty airport have probably never been to Shymkent. I hope I won't have to visit Shymkent again. Such people spoil the whole impression.

The city is growing, the airport is too small for passenger traffic, they would rather open a new one, because this is the face of the city.
It is very cramped, God forbid you find yourself in a situation when several planes arrive at once, even at 3 o'clock in the morning. You will stand in line for a border guard stamp for 2-3 hours, in this cramped room, in the stuffiness. everyone is working very slowly, the equipment is all tired. Since the luggage belt is also very small, they throw suitcases in portions, so until this tape is slowly released, you will not see your suitcase. You have gone ahead of the others, but you will have to wait for those who are still queuing at customs to pick up their suitcases.
The staff at the reception periodically makes mistakes in the tickets.
The airport is small, but in general everything is convenient. I came from Tashkent several times to fly to Istanbul. Ticket prices were cheaper than from Tashkent
A small box, an arrivals hall, in general, 3 seats, I'm waiting for the new, old terminal to open, very small, nowhere to sit, nothing to do, for a city with a population of 1 million, it's just a small box, even the museum in Shymkent is bigger than the airport.
Staff should regulate the way they talk to passengers. He must learn that he should not be touched. Countless personnel, such as those who will take their own wings and fly, do not suit such a beautiful city
The airport is small, but everything is absolutely clear. You don't have to think long about where the check-in is, where the departure area is, where the smoking room is. Everything is there and everything works.
