I flew from Dubai to Shymkent airport twice, but it was a long time ago, last year my sister and her family flew to Turkey, went out to meet my nephew, the airport is changing for the better, but much more needs to be done to bring Shymkent airport to a new level to meet international standards. Good luck to you neighbors!
There is no difference if you have a business or economy ticket))) there is no priority on registration. Otherwise, everything is normal as at other airports.
It's not a big airport, which is convenient, you don't have to run around looking for your flight. The staff is polite and helpful, clean and comfortable, the waiting room is not large, which is very convenient, in a word, not a bad airport. I recommend
Convenient transportation to the airport - 12 bus. I got out and immediately stopped. If there is no local fare on the phone, and the arrival is at night, the girls at the nearest store will call an inexpensive taxi. Migration control is very long, but it is at all airports.
An old airport (domestic airlines) operating at the limit of its capacity. There are cafes inside the clean zone, but the prices are high.
It takes at least 30 minutes to get to the city, and even more during rush hours.
The old building is cramped, it does not suit the city of a million people, there are few flights to the capital Astana, money is being ripped off for already purchased e-tickets for a boarding pass.Airlines should be ashamed of themselves.
Well, everything seems to be intuitively clear there, but it looks more like some kind of railway station than an airport, it is better to arrive there registered and close to departure, the atmosphere does not have to be there
On an international flight, we waited for customs officers for 2 hours. That's why the flight was delayed. But we arrived in Moscow on time, the crew was good.
A very good airport, everyone is good-natured, the only thing is it is small, but there is more service at a small airport than in Almaty, Shymkent deserves to keep it that way.
The airport is small, but in general everything is convenient. I came from Tashkent several times to fly to Istanbul. Ticket prices were cheaper than from Tashkent
I hope for the opening of the new airport soon. It is very small for a million-plus city.

One of the worst airports I've ever been to. It looks more like a small bus station than an international airport. The dining room is located separately, there are no sensible grocery stores or cafes in the building itself. A more or less normal waiting room is only in the international flight area. The rest is a bazaar.
A separate remark to the border guard, who for some reason, asking questions during passport verification and registration, allows himself to "poke" a stranger. I didn't remember his name - he looks like Bishimbayev. With my question about how much cash I was carrying, I probably thought that I would share it with him, hinting at a bribe from scratch. A completely inappropriate question. This has never been asked anywhere. In general, unpleasant types work here.
Those who complain about the old terminal of Almaty airport have probably never been to Shymkent. I hope I won't have to visit Shymkent again. Such people spoil the whole impression.
Both airports meet the requirements of the time! Only it would be necessary to expand the food store for customers! In Shymkent, there is only a coffee shop with low prices....and so they function perfectly!
Well, to be honest, it's not very comfortable and clean, the waiting room stinks of cigarette smoke due to the fact that the smoking room is apparently incorrectly located and ventilation does not work. It's very stuffy, the check-in counters are small and there aren't many of them at all, the crowd is climbing on top of each other .... Sad
Everyone is looking forward to the opening of the new terminal. And the old one, this is a parody of the airport, has long outlived its usefulness, small and cramped...
A funny airport in the steppe, like when you arrive, the staff comes out, an improvised passport and border control desk like in a school scene, you quickly go through everything, sit down and fly away. The airport itself is a small town, too, so-so. There were tickets. Cheap to the EU, that's why I flew arriving at the railway
Small, mostly traffic on the ground floor. 4 check-in counters, 2 exits. Separate building for arrivals and baggage, 2 exits for domestic and international flights. Of course, it is small for a city of millions, but we are waiting for the opening of a new airport, which is being completed nearby.
It's so small, but they manage to work slowly. The customs control zone - not all points are always working. Sometimes there are such queues that you can recline there.
We arrived at 3 o'clock in the morning. At least the guard was left on duty. Otherwise, not a soul. Scary.
You could use a repair. Many international flights fly through Shymkent. The face of the city, but so terrible.
The old Shymkent airport terminal is just trash! When leaving the arrival area (a separate building), an inconvenient door handle almost tore off my fingers. The building where the waiting room is a tiny toilet, a oak tree inside. There are no amenities: It is almost impossible to charge the phone. There is no WiFi. But there is a paid massage chair in the waiting room. In general, it's a sad place.
I hope the new terminal will be much better
A new terminal is under construction, the current one has long been outdated. But there are few flights, and therefore the terminal copes with the load. There is a large bus to the airport, parking
The staff is unfriendly - when checking in for a flight, the Ramp was given seats randomly (they checked in an hour and a half before the flight). An emergency alarm (probably a fire alarm) was constantly sounding in the waiting room, there was no landing announcement, no one explained which flight. The impression is that the new terminal has not been launched, and the old one has already stopped discussing passengers, while they do not forget to include the service fee in the ticket price
It's amazing that such a beautiful city has such an airport. It looks more like a bus station. There is no Duke. All rooms are small. A good copy for the 80s, but now it does not correspond to the time at all.
There is such a small airport in a big city. On the other hand, it's good not to get lost and walk less. At the exit, birds chirp pleasantly, annoying taxi drivers. I really like the city.
Not the port, the passage from the street to the runway. Outdated , unfortunately , mentally and physically, the desire to move to a new port building as soon as possible.
For a million-plus city, the airport is quite small. There is not enough comfort here, there would be more places to wait, a little more opportunity to buy water or have a snack and it would be better. In fairness, I note that the new airport is already under construction. We will wait, I am sure everything will be completely different there.
I can't say anything about Shymkent International Airport, as it is not functioning yet. And at the expense of the old airport, there are a lot of disadvantages, it takes a long time to list.I hope that when the new airport starts working, all the disadvantages and disadvantages will be eliminated.
