The airport is normal. It looks small, with short lanes for take-off and landing, but there's plenty of room for everyone. The information is all there. Where to get to the bus without even knowing the languages is easy. Big duty free.

A small regional airport. Walk to the plane. But it's quite spacious. There are several cafes. There are many car rental companies on arrival. There is a large parking lot of these companies nearby. Rent a car very quickly. You can get to the center of Heraklion by taxi, but it is expensive. Near 20 m., bus stop. 2 euros to the center.

07.07.23 we took off from Heraklion, the flight to Antalya was delayed for 1 hour, but that's not the point. The airport is small, with a panoramic view of the runway from the waiting room.
Of the cons: the announcements on the speakerphone are not legible, wheezing is heard from the speakers. The toilets are terribly dirty, there is an unbearable stench. There is a lot of garbage in the waiting room, both on the floor and on the chairs.

It's scary to imagine a worse airport. There is no organization. At all. 2 flights arrived. We mixed the suitcases and put them on 2 tapes at the same time. Passengers on both completely different flights were running between the two tapes, looking for their suitcases. Trash!!!
When checking in for the return flight, passengers of 2 different flights were also put in one queue!!! And that's 500 people. The stuffiness is terrible. The airport is very dirty. The toilets are not cleaned, the stench is terrible. The airport staff and the customs service do not respond to your comments and stand with stony faces. It really spoils the vacation experience.
The conclusion is the worst airport in the world. And they don't care about your comments. Come to rest anyway.

It is not a very large airport, which copes well with its direct functions. It's funny, but a couple of times I arrived and flew to this airport early in the morning 3-4 in the morning and practically did not see it in daylight. Pretty clean, compact. Duty Free is small and surprisingly quite expensive: in Vnukovo, Metaxa 1 liter cost 21 euros (I specially removed the price tag on the phone), and there on departure 35! I showed my aunt to the saleswoman - so she made round eyes and clicked her tongue)) And the queues are still piling up, especially for registration, although the movement is quite fast. The airport itself is quite tired - it was opened at this place in 1937, and the renovation was in the 70s. They say a new one is being built nearby.

Disgusting airport! If they tell you right in front of the check-in desk that their working day is over and they send you to the end of another queue at another counter, don't be surprised, it's okay there, and no one will look that you are with a two-year-old child. There is nowhere to sit at the airport, water is 5 euros, toilets are like at a suburban train station, I am generally silent about the ventilation system, it works normally only in duty free shops. All the good impression of Crete was ruined by the departure, we will not fly there anymore!

There are problems with wifi, there are several networks, but they are paid.The airport network was not working for some reason((

From queue to queue and so on through the entire airport. They need to expand))) and even more pointers and competent logistics would not hurt. One thing is written on the scoreboard, you come - the employee says something completely different and everyone runs in the opposite direction! All passengers (almost 400 people) we stood at the SAME baggage reception desk and so there was one counter for all flights, and there are a lot of people in the season. The only thing I liked was that passengers with children are collected in a separate queue, but this is only during inspection.

We were among the first in the queue for registration. A poorly speaking English employee was trying to convey something. It was hard to understand that she announced the postponement of the departure time. Despite this, the communication was calm. But, for some reason, she wanted to put us on the bench, seats: “C” and “D”, on the 36th row.
Knowledgeable people understand what I mean.
How can you treat people like that?!!
PS - For all the time we have spent in this country, we have not had such a misunderstanding with the locals. Everyone treats Russians very well. Only this one moment turned out to be incomprehensible to me and very unpleasant at the end of the vacation.
