On the day of the liberation of Gomel in the Great Patriotic War, the 34th "Teshka" with the tail number 101 was installed on Vosstaniya Square. For as long as I can remember, the tank has been standing confidently on a pedestal. It was restored once. He looks decent for his age.
The area is actively used for parking. If it's not December or January, and there is no Christmas tree near the tank, and there is no fair, then, for sure, almost the entire territory is filled with cars. It is very desirable to remove 2-3 parking spaces near the tank on both sides to improve the view of the 34th.
This was the end of my review two years ago, which gathered votes of +3-0. The reconstruction done this year has provided the memorial with a candy condition. The new photo frames indicate the elimination of the main drawback of this place on Vosstaniya Square - an excess of parking spaces. My wish to reduce the number of passenger car satellites surrounding the tank was even exceeded by the local authorities! (see photo)
The tank was installed in 1968, a tribute to the soldiers- liberators of Gomel. Agricultural fairs, festivities and other city events take place on the square every weekend.
