Impressive, the combination of scale and comfort. After visiting there, I felt the atmosphere of one of the most advanced scientific and educational centers of medieval Eurasia
Ulugbek Madrasah is one of the most famous sights of Samarkand, located on Registan Square. Built at the beginning of the XV century by order of the great astronomer and ruler Ulugbek, it is an outstanding example of Timurid architecture. This madrasah served as a center of education, where future scientists, astronomers, mathematicians and philosophers studied. Being an outstanding scientist of his time, Ulugbek founded the famous astronomical school here, which became one of the most advanced in the world at that time.
The architecture of the Ulugbek madrasah is admired for its grandeur and elegance. Elegant ornaments, powerful columns and arches, as well as extensive courtyards and facades make this place a real work of art. Especially impressive are the colored tiles and mosaic patterns that create a picturesque view against the bright sky of Samarkand.
Visit this place during our fascinating tour of this unique historical site and other significant sights of Samarkand and other cities of Uzbekistan
A wonderful historical landmark on Registan Square in Samarkand, visited in April 2024, lived a 5-minute walk in the new 2-storey beautiful SANDHILL hotel, highly recommended. I advise you to visit the singing fountains in Samarkand, located in Samarkand City near the rowing canal, open from 19h.
Visiting the Ulugbek Madrasah in Samarkand, it was as if I had entered a fabulous past full of splendor and grandeur. This architectural masterpiece, built more than five centuries ago, impresses with its beauty and grandeur. There is a special atmosphere of peace and tranquility inside the madrasah, as if time stops here.
Stunning mosaics, exquisite patterns and frescoes on the walls, arches and domes create a unique architectural harmony. Walking through the courtyard, I felt like a student of the great scientist Ulugbek, who taught his knowledge and wisdom here.
This place has a special energy and wisdom that makes you think about the greatness of the human spirit and possibilities. I left here with a feeling of admiration and inspiration, and I am sure that I will return here more than once. Ulugbek Madrasah is a real cultural and historical treasure that everyone should see.
One of the most beautiful and interesting madrasahs located on the central square of Samarkand is Registan. On its territory there is a museum dedicated to the scientific activities of Tamerlane Ulugbek's grandson. Be sure to visit this place! I recommend it in the evening, very beautiful lighting!

Ulugbek Madrasah is a real pearl of Samarkand's architectural heritage. This is an incredibly beautiful monument of the Timurid era, built by the great ruler and scientist Ulugbek in the 15th century. The majestic portals, lined with bright blue glazed tiles, amaze with their monumentality and elegance. Inside the madrasah, the luxurious design of the classrooms, framed by carved wooden columns and domed vaults, attracts the eye.
Walking through this historical place, you can't help but imagine the atmosphere of the educational process of those times when many students from all over the East studied here. Today, the Ulugbek Madrasah is an important monument of the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan, which is worth visiting for anyone interested in the history and architecture of Central Asia.
The most spiritual place in Samarkand. I really love coming here. You can just sit next to it on a bench and enjoy the beautiful view of antiquity.
A ticket for Uzbeks costs 10 thousand rubles. But you need to show your passport) .
There are a lot of stands and information inside, even a movie is being shown.
A master class in Arabic calligraphy was attended on the territory of Ulugbek madrasah, I really liked it, a teacher from Cairo led the master class, told about different fonts, you can write your names on a piece of leather, it's interesting + a souvenir
The legacy of Ulugbek, madrasah. One of the leading educational centers of the Middle Ages in Central Asia. And the oldest one on Registan Square. It was restored well under the USSR. Definitely ready to visit!
Historical and cultural heritage. Everything is clean, neat and civil. There are a lot of souvenir shops, there are even rooms where you can see how jewelry is made by hand. Of the disadvantages, you can take the uninformativeness of the signs and pointers. If you want to learn more about the exhibit, either use the Internet or hire a guide. The presentation for Independence Day was also disappointing, one thing was indicated in the program, but in fact...
We visited Uzbekistan in May. I am absolutely delighted!!!! The most beautiful architecture, and most importantly, is carefully preserved and restored! We were in Samarkand, Bukhara, Tashkent - cities drowning in greenery! The people are very hospitable. Cleanliness and order! And how delicious everything is!!!! Thank you Uzbekistan!!!
The heart of the city of Samarkand. There is a museum inside, which must be visited. The exhibits are beautifully and neatly framed. There are a lot of tourists. The entrance fee for the entire complex is now 65 thousand soums for foreign citizens.
When you see the sights with a guide who tells a story, it's very interesting! Imagine how beautiful and expensive it was. The place is amazing, I definitely advise you to go and preferably with an audio guide or with a guide, watch, listen to the story.
It's a very beautiful place. Especially in the evening during the color music show. The photos are amazing. During the day, souvenir shops and installations illustrating the life of ancient students and their mentors work inside.
It's very beautiful inside, even cozy, I want to stand and watch the faithful pray, if you can't do it yourself.
And don't rush anywhere.
Registan Square itself is beautiful both during the day and at night.
Thanks to Ulugbek for leaving such a legacy. Well, thanks to the guides for telling you with such love
The historical place where Mirza Ulugbek's observatory used to be, it went down under the earth and from there Mirzo Ulugbek observed the stars studied them for a long time there were no such devices as now and at that time, without instruments except a telescope, he established the location of more than 1000 stars.
It is definitely worth taking an excursion as part of a visit to Registan. Inside the Ulukbek Madrasah there are exhibits that can be used to learn about the learning process at that time. It is interesting to visit this place both early in the morning (before the start of the flow of tourists) and in the evening when everything is beautifully illuminated
An indescribable place of beauty. At the entrance to the Registan, we were offered to climb a spiral staircase inside one of the towers of the madrasah for an additional fee. This is a completely crazy adventure: a narrow staircase that ends just with a hole in the roof, where you can climb out to the waist and admire the Registan from a height. This can only happen in Uzbekistan. The courtyard of the madrasah is magnificent. There is also an interesting museum of education, which is also worth a visit. In general, a lot of impressions.
It is beautiful, like everything in wonderful Samarkand. Entrance is paid. We were at the end of January, there are very very few tourists. It is within walking distance of other tourist sites, which is very convenient.
And why not please your eyes with the most magnificent works of architectural and design art of antiquity and get a feeling of deep inner satisfaction?! I recommend visiting this place!
Ulugbek Madrasah will not surprise you with the sophistication of the layouts that I saw earlier, but the secret of its beauty lies in the decoration and decor ... it must be seen with your own eyes.
A unique place, I recommend you to visit.
The Madrassah on the Registration Square in Samarkand is very beautiful, I want not only to admire, but also to listen to the stories of the guide, in many ways legends!
Beautiful and calm inside.Very impressive at night, with lighting and a light show!
The museum is a modern building. Russian Russian, English and Uzbek explanations are everywhere, but the Russian language has disappeared here. They have the right, but it's unpleasant.
And Ulukbek is great, you can't say anything here
A very beautiful place, if you want romance and beautiful photos, then in the evening there is a backlight, in the afternoon it is beautiful in its own way, in the evening there is a different atmosphere 😍
It's a very beautiful place. There is a museum with cultural and everyday objects. The rooms where the students lived with the mentor are presented. There are many souvenir shops. A very large area. A wonderful location for a photo
An architectural and religious object. It is similar to other madrassas. You can watch it. There is no special admiration (maybe the architecture is boring). You can watch it. I recommend you to visit.
Very beautiful. It is best to visit in the evening. The light show starts at 9 o'clock. But we came at 7 and had a great walk, watched everything, and then sat down to watch the show). During the light show, of course, you can't see all the beauty of the mosaic pan, but it is also fascinating
Registan, the pearl of Samarkand. I recommend a very beautiful place to everyone, the energy is great, if you are in Uzbekistan, be sure to visit the city of Samarkand
An important and very beautiful building as part of an architectural complex on Registan Square in Samarkand. It is beautiful both outside (portal) and inside (courtyard). The condition before the restoration (judging by the preserved photographs) was depressing.

I really liked the beauty and cleanliness, there are plans to visit the sights of SAMARKAND again in the future. I RECOMMEND A VISIT. AS THEY SAY, AN HONORARY CARD OF UZBEKISTAN.
The survey of the observatory was much faster than the trip to it. You can see a small museum opposite the observatory with an exhibition of old manuscripts, books, coins, tools, models. The overview of the entrance to the observatory is small, photo and video are allowed. There is a platform with a monument to Ulekbek along the steps. We consider the entry of 30,000 soums per person to be unreasonably expensive.

A very interesting place!
Well-groomed, green!
There you can not only see the observatory, learn about the work of the outstanding Ulugbek, learn about his scientific works, but also just take a walk and take cool photos!
It so happened that last year I was unable to visit the Ulugbek Observatory. This we fixed with Lily on this trip. Very convenient Parking, the navigator leads to it by back streets, although it is wonderful to arrive along Islam Karimov Street. By the way, Google doesn't know a lot about Samarkand. They didn't even leave the parking lot. We found a hotel around the corner and settled in. I recommend the named street 106.
Good day to all! Registan Square is one of the main iconic places of the whole of Uzbekistan! Therefore, if you are planning a trip to Samarkand or already here, then be sure to go and admire this beauty!!!
a beautiful place to take pictures and that's all, the price for tourists is instantly high, and for locals the price is low, I advise you to have local friends in Uzbekistan so that prices are 4-5 times lower
A great option for domestic tourism and international tourists. Food is cheaper there, I think this is the most important thing. One thing, but the price of souvenirs is burning there, that's for sure
Children of different ages studied at Ulugbek madrasah. To heat the students, hot metal was placed under low tables. basins with coals, all this was covered with a cotton blanket on top. First of all, the Koran was studied, Sharia - the basics of law, Arabic - the language of religion, Forsi - the language of literature and science, the philosophy of Aristotle, Sufism - who are we? Where are we from? And where are we going? And the most famous Sufi is Omar Khayam: from where we came, where we are in a hurry now, the meaning of life flying, alas, we will not comprehend.
Go - you won't regret it!! You will be thoroughly told how the madrasah was arranged; who built it; who studied in it; how did the rooms of students and professors differ? As a mystery for tourists: on which part of the body were corporal punishments inflicted??🤗
I love this place, I visit it very often. I like to walk around the mysterious Rugistan. This place is special to me, I go there more often in the evenings, it's very beautiful.

Historical building. The courtyard is cozy, with benches, you can sit down and relax. There is a pavilion where the museum is located. The students' cells have been converted into souvenir shops, shops, the prices for souvenirs are higher than in the shops located outside the madrasah. Sellers are practically not inferior.
Very very beautiful
I recommend watching it
It is necessary to go inside
We were in the afternoon, but in the evening they say it's more spectacular and photos at sunset are more interesting due to the low sun
