A small (10 rooms) hotel in the center of the European part of the city and next to the metro, 4 minutes to the Galata Tower and 1 minute to Istiklal Street; you can get to the hotel from the Galata Bridge embankment (Karakey station) by Tunel funicular when you get tired of walking uphill) in general, the location is the best. The hotel has a good responsive staff. The shower was working properly, if cleaning is needed every day, please let us know, we asked for cleaning every other day. There is no breakfast, but it is not necessary with such a variety of cafes nearby. If necessary, there is a roomservice, a minibar. Visit the Big chef restaurant nearby - we really liked it there (lunch/ dinner), everything is delicious. The windows of the room overlooked the stairs and it was a little dark in the room, but cozy. On weekends, there is noise from the street (music from the club), late at night, take earplugs. It is important in March! There is heating that can be adjusted by yourself (battery). Wi-Fi works, but whatsup is much faster than telegram. On the 6th floor of the hotel there is a veranda with a wonderful view of the city. The receptionist kindly called us a taxi to the airport upon check-out. I recommend the hotel to travelers without children. I will be happy to choose this hotel again.
Good location, near the metro station (several exits), funicular 50 meters from the hotel (!), Istiklal pedestrian shopping street and the historic tram that will take you to Taksim Square along this street. The room was taken with a balcony on the 2nd floor, cozy, liked the design (wood), spacious bathroom, 2 watering cans in the shower and always excellent hot water pressure! Excellent safe, fits a laptop and all documents! BUT from Friday to Sunday it was very noisy, somewhere in the courtyards there was a bar with a disco (it was quieter on weekdays). The elevator is cool. On the 6-7 floors there is a panoramic view of the city and the Bosphorus, the Galata Tower. Room cleaning 1 time in 3 days, on the day of arrival they asked for a 300 lira deposit for a mini bar, said that we would not use it and did not leave it). Going out to Istiklal in the morning, you can have a great breakfast at the Clementin cafe (decorated with a huge number of flowers, you will not pass by). You can get to the airport by metro with 1 transfer, but we ordered a taxi for 800 lira.
It's a great place, we liked it! The hotel is small, cozy, as for me - solid three stars, of course there are signs of fatigue in some places, but the overall impressions are the best! The three of us lived together and we had a room with a huge bed and a corner sofa bed, everything was in order, a kettle, an excellent hair dryer, a minibar, and a small safe. The hotel is located less than a minute from the metro, if you take an elevator and less than a minute from the tunnel-descent to the Karakey tram station, there is also a bridge and a pier, again the tram along Istiklal stops less than a minute, the street itself begins there, respectively, in a word - the entire infrastructure. I would like to mention the staff separately - they are responsive and attentive, since starting from the moment of booking, I had a problem with prepayment, which is required by the rules, but they met me halfway and booked tickets without prepayment. We lived from March 17 to March 29, the guys at the hotel were always attentive, each time they clarified whether they needed anything that was required in the room, making our stay comfortable, for which all the staff thank you very much! I would definitely stay here again.
a lovely hotel located 1 minute walk from Istiklal and 1 minute from Shishkhane metro station. The room is clean, NOT noisy, comfortable, friendly staff
We stay here for the second time, very convenient location, the deposit for the minibar is 200 rubles. The hotel has deteriorated a bit in a couple of years. Beautiful view from the terrace.
Medar Hotel is a wonderful place. Perhaps it is an ideal option for tourists looking for a good location in Istanbul. The hotel itself is located in a 19th-century building. However, everything inside is comfortable and modern. We had a lovely spacious room, cozy and clean. A separate bonus is the roof terrace, which offers a magnificent view of the Bosphorus and all the main attractions of the city. Restaurants with delicious food, many shops and cafes, small souvenir and pastry shops are within walking distance. Cadde-i Kebir Street (Istiklal) is a few meters from the hotel. The street is so beautiful and diverse that you will not get tired of walking back and forth along it for a whole day. It is there that you can see the so-called nostalgic bright red tram. And a little more about the hotel itself. From the first minute, the friendly staff tries to make your stay at the Medar Hotel extremely comfortable. The hospitality is on top. In short, I recommend this place to everyone from the bottom of my heart!
A super hotel! Super location! We were there for five days out of seven, then moved to another hotel purely because of the overbooking of this and therefore the comparison.... The current hotel does not compare with the Medar at all! It is a pity that we did not live in Medara ☹️
Only positive impressions!!!
And the view from the veranda of the seventh floor is generally fascinating! No reservations and dinners in expensive restaurants are needed! You can buy a bottle of wine at a nearby store and enjoy the view!
