Luxor Temple – Luxor, Egypt
It is definitely recommended to visit – just look at the weather, it is very difficult to walk here in the heat.
The scale of this complex is striking.
There are a lot of people here, it's noisy.
The staff will take pictures of you from good angles for a dollar.
We drove 4.5 hours from Hurghada – the road is good.
I did not understand why parents take children less than 7 years old here.
They go to see Ancient Egypt not only in Cairo, but also in the city of Luxor. And the main attraction here is the Luxor Temple, most of which was built in the 14th century BC. The most ancient buildings in the temple, which presumably appeared during the reign of Pharaoh Amenhotep III, are the sanctuary, hypostyle hall and colonnade. Currently, the length of the structure reaches 260 meters, and some architectural elements are striking in their scale. Another feature of the temple is the high colonnades with dozens of columns, 64 in the lobby alone, and about 40 in the temple halls.
The greatest building! As they say now, a place of power! Wandering around the temple grounds, the question never leaves for a minute: "How? Who were these people who built it?" No descriptions will convey the impression. We need to come and see the fabulous Luxor on our own!
I have always been interested in the history of Egypt. As a child, I read books about treasure tombs, ancient hieroglyphs, and pharaohs. I really wanted to touch this story. Therefore, when we arrived in Hurghada for a vacation, the first thing we did was take an excursion to Luxor. It is much closer than Cairo. And the Luxor temple is quite worthy of attention! The scale of the building was impressive: huge statues, an obelisk, hefty columns… Lots of interesting things! The only downside is that the Egyptians themselves tormented us by asking us to take pictures with them, even sending their children! It feels like we were the exhibits.😅
