Lara Beach was a must-see point for a day trip in a rented buggy from Paphos along the coast and through the mountains to the town of Polis and the Blue Lagoon. I would not recommend traveling by car along a rocky and dusty road: jeeps, buggies and ATVs in the parking lot of the high bank were the only means of transportation by which tourists get here. Pleasant fine and clean sand on the beach itself and the seabed (mostly rocky in Cyprus), excellent waves on which they joyfully swayed and jumped, refreshing themselves after visiting the Akamas gorge and gaining strength before a difficult pass through the mountains (by the way, a wonderful panorama of Lara Bay opened from the mountains later – these turned out to be two symmetrical, elegantly curved bays). However, to get to clean water, I had to overcome a strip of algae, which still stuck tightly (of course, there is no shower, as well as sun beds with umbrellas, there is no mention here). Interesting turtle nests are clutches from which no one wanted to hatch in front of us. But the turtles, after walking along a sparsely populated wild beach – a fairly long sandy strip, were still seen in the aquarium at the Lara Bay Turtle Conservation Station. In fact, this is an ordinary shed where tourists hid from the heat. On the walls there are posters with species of turtles living in Cyprus and information about the station (probably interesting and useful, but it was lazy to read in the heat). It's probably funny when Lara Beach is listed on the birth certificate (even if it's a turtle) – a blessed place where it's always warm and sunny!
In fact, this is not even one beach, but several beaches with the same name Lara Beach, which stretch along the western coast of Cyprus and are located on the territory of the Akamas Nature Reserve. The color of the sea here is some kind of unreal color ...
it's quite difficult to get here on your own. By a small rented car only to the first beach, then the road is very bad. Even large cars do not get further than the first beach, often losing their numbers on the way :)))) The best option is to ride ATVs, which is what many tourists do.
At the end of August, turtles hatch on the beaches of Lara and crawl to the sea :) The turtle laying site is marked with special metal barriers. It is for this reason that the beaches are "wild".
Although it is definitely worth coming here, but swim with caution. The waves are always huge here, they carry out small pebbles... Even just standing on the seashore and catching waves, I somehow injured my leg very badly.
By the way, opposite the first beach of Lara there is a road that leads to the Akamas gorge. Therefore, if you come in the summer, then first I advise you to visit the gorge, feeling all its coolness, and in the late evening you already come to the beach when the sun is not so scorching, and at this time you can often be the only visitors here :)
A remote beach. The road is a dirt road with stones. But there are very few people. Ideal for those who want to enjoy privacy with the sea and the sun.
Gorgeous sand! Beautiful clear sea and beach. Since it is a breeding ground for turtles, there is no shower, no cafe, no infrastructure. And you can only get there with great difficulty.
