The main plus is that it still exists)) the first and long-awaited bike rental in New Athos. Minus - the choice is not wow, to put it mildly.
Bike rental at the shopping malls opposite the park, next to the stadium. Accordingly, it works when the seller of vegetables / fruits arrives, that is, from about 10 to 20-21. It's a little late to leave at 10+ for the Abkhazian weather, but you can take a bike from the evening for a day. There were only three bicycles available, of which only one was normal (with speeds), two were very poor (such, you know, slingshots without speeds, once I took one in Kizhi, it's tin, of course, it's not possible to ride it, you pedal - and it almost doesn't move). And several electric scooters. They're cool, of course, but they're weak. As I was warned, on the steep ascents and not very good roads of New Athos, such a scooter will reach the maximum to the cave, maybe a little further. That is, even riding them around the city with restrictions, and it's better not to go outside the city. In general, a purely entertaining thing
Cost : bicycles 500 rubles /hour, 1500 rubles per day, scooter 350 rubles for half an hour.
According to the condition of the bike. The wings were missing - all the dirt in the face. The rear brake was weak and barely coped, and at the end of the way it turned completely sour. But there was a purse on the phone frame (however, mine didn't fit in it) and a nice long and comfortable cable. The speeds lagged periodically, but more or less worked. Overall, the bike is in good condition.
They gave the bike for two hours without collateral, and asked for a deposit for a day (SNILS - in order not to give them a passport - they were quite satisfied). The attitude is friendly.
As for the roads. New Athos, of course, is not the most convenient place for cycling. But I got to Anukhva along the lower road along the river (past three boilers) quite comfortably and quickly. Along this road there are also several descents down to the bed of the picturesque river (in addition to the three paid boilers). I know three descents (a stone bridge, a green canyon and there is still a place upstream where the shore crumbled and you can go down to the river without a ladder) to Anukhva and there is at least one more descent beyond the village.
This road is perhaps the most convenient and the most picturesque available to a bicycle. For the rest, at least part of the way the bike will have to be rolled on foot along too steep ascents and descents.
