It took a couple of years to get to the military unit. And there are no Nomads all the way to the town. Off-road. There are few signs indicating the way, you can drive into the gorge in the wrong place.
And the castle structure itself is in disrepair. I do not recommend going up to the upper floors. It's beautiful, the river is marble-colored👍 The castle is beautiful but requires major repairs.
There is no service for vacationers.

I went on May 31, as part of the cast of extras for the film "Abylai Khan", it was very hot, the wind picked up in the evening and it became quite cool.
1) this is not an attraction, but rather a decoration made of sand and sticks! Some of the decorations are flimsy and are already breaking down.
2) the culture of people leaves much to be desired, in many places I noticed cigarette butts and garbage were thrown into a nearby house.
3) the river is wide-water, cold but not icy.
4) the guard is a bit rude, but he didn't spoil the impression.
5) The road is not very good either, so draw conclusions.

An interesting place on the banks of the Ili River. In general, you can get there by car, the road is quite good. Unfortunately, the city is not being cared for, which gradually leads to its destruction. There is no special point in going to the city, a maximum of 30 minutes walk, but you can swim in the river, there is a beach, but there is a strong current, you need to be careful.

An important fact. You can get there only by car, as part of an excursion or by taxi. The location is located approximately 25 kilometers from the city of Konaev. (About an hour by bus from Almaty)
THERE IS NO CONNECTION. Therefore, if you are going to take a taxi there, immediately arrange for the return trip. Yandex will not go there and you will not be able to call it there.
I drove to the location by private taxi, which are parked at the Konaev railway station. I paid 12,000 tenge in both directions.
Entrance to the territory is 1500 tenge.
Do not agree to individual tours for 100,000 tenge. This place is just a set erected for the filming of a movie. Now they are in a deplorable state. But the place still looks quite atmospheric.
The road to the city of nomads is unpaved - be careful.

An interesting place. Before visiting, I advise you to watch the film "Nomad" by Bodrov, where the film was shot. The photo shoot turns out to be stunning, the landscape is colorful.
Be sure to take water and food, wet wipes: there is nowhere to buy or it is expensive (or it has run out if it is very hot). We were at the end of August and there was an unrealistic number of midges, I just wanted to cover my face with a net. Unfortunately, there are few places to sit: there is only one cafe and a small canopy. You can sit along the river only if you take a high chair or a rug with you, because there are no stones or logs. On the river Or there is an opportunity to take a boat ride, cross to the other side and see the real ancient rock paintings.
