Another trip to Barcelona in 2014 gave the opportunity to climb into the Montjuic fortress. We reached the funicular station, left the car and got into the fortress by air. The 1641 building is very well preserved, has been rebuilt several times, and contains a large number of artillery weapons. Until 1960, the fort was used by the Francoist regime as a military prison. The fortress offers excellent views of the sea, Barcelona and its port. You can also climb the pedestrian alleys of Montjuic Mountain, and took its name from the Jews-"Jewish Mountain", which sounds very similar in the local dialect - Mont juïc.
The fortress was included in the annals of the Catalan struggle for independence.
We went up to this fortress from the Olympic stadium, with children, the heat! But now in 2021 you remember how much fun it was to travel!! It's a beautiful place.
