The memorial to the Red Guards in Bishkek is dedicated to the Soviet soldiers who gave their lives for the country during the Great Patriotic War. The memorial is an 11-meter-high obelisk made of red polished granite. At the top of the obelisk there are symbols of the Soviet people — a sickle and a hammer, framed by a wreath of bronze metal. On each of the four corners of the pedestal lies a gun cast in bronze. The granite slabs bear the names of 43 Red Guard soldiers who served in the First Pishpek Regiment and died in battle with the enemy. The inscription reads: "Eternal glory to those who died for the power of the Soviets." Next to the obelisk there is a mass grave, as well as the "Eternal Flame" — a symbol of eternal memory to the soldiers.
