It is not always possible to cross the border without hassle. There is also an atmosphere of goodwill and a clear division of responsibilities. Without fuss, without nervousness and unnecessary nagging. Everything is correct and professional.
Thank you for the positive start of the holiday and its kind ending!
All the best to you and see you next year!!!
They work very quickly , without creating queues , do not find fault , there are a lot of checkpoints , friendly staff , large parking for boarding passengers , after passing through passport control ! There are also two Duty Free
2 days ago, we passed the Abkhazia-Russia border crossing, we were already returning, we wanted to stop at the Duty Free, the border guard did not let us in, saying the machine is full, go to your Russia. Like that.
I understand everything. Our border must be protected. Therefore, I do not want to write about queues. But the organization of the movement of cars is very annoying. When you arrive by car, it is very difficult to understand where to go. Meager signs don't help much in this. There are no traffic lanes, because of this, everyone starts moving in a chaotic manner. Conflict situations often arise, everyone is pinching each other, trying to get through. You are driving under stress, the neighboring cars are clamped so that you cannot open the car door. The locals, knowing this situation, are the most arrogant. Please contact the administration - arrange the order of movement of cars and human queues and everyone will be calm and comfortable!
We were on a tour from Sochi on 07/18/2013, we stood at the post there for an hour. An hour back, and even with the children. Abkhazia is beautiful, but after being in office, somehow I don't want to go any more.
It's a little dirty and generally looks very neglected from the outside, but inside it's very cool and cozy. But here is such a steep stele and amazing views of the mountains. I love it
We drove into Abkhazia by car around seven in the morning, there were no queues. For everything about everything 30 min. The border staff are very primitive guys, they wished to get a good buzz verbatim and suggested where it is better to stop.I was in Abkhazia for the first time , so to speak , I went for ✔️ and did not regret it much ! Be sure to visit Lake Ritsa and the Abkhazian Alps, well, sooooo BEAUTIFUL🤩
Four stars, just for the fact that there are only two ways to the border, so it's a little long (this is from Abkhazia). The Abkhazian border guards ask if they liked everything, how they rested, I invite them to come again, they do not need to get out of the car (passports are checked right there in the car). But as soon as you enter the territory of Russia, you are met by stone border guards, roughly inspect the car (as if we are all cantrabanists) passengers pass the control on foot separately.
What can I say. It's good when you've passed quickly and you're free. The inspection passes quickly, but it infuriates when motorcycles pass without a queue, although they are also transport, they also need to be cut off in the general queue, since passengers undergo general control with everyone. It turns out that the motorcycle has passed and the passenger is standing, the transport should be all equal
It's pretty fast! During the rush hour in July, it stood for about 20 minutes. Excellent duty free! From Abkhazia, there are minibuses to any city at once. I immediately advise you to take a sim card. 990 rubles unlimited Internet.
It is better to pass early in the morning or late at night. A large flow of cars. Abkhazian cars stand in a separate queue.
Do not be fooled by the customs requirements that all passengers need to go through customs control separately. If you are eating with a child, then leave it in the car. Children are monitored as well as the driver. You just need to show it along with the documents
Not for long, the main thing is to see the queue with Russian numbers there faster.
They talk politely and tell you where to go.
Well done, it's nice to keep it that way.
The wildest contrast between the Russian and Abkhazian checkpoints: they work very quickly, clearly, politely, with a smile... They leave extremely positive memories, unlike the Russian checkpoint.
We drove towards Abkhazia at night, we passed the customs of Russia and Abkhazia quickly (we drove by car). There was practically no queue from the car (4auto). The passengers took longer to pass.
They also returned by car, the queue was longer, but the car passed faster than the passengers. I had to wait for them. The inspection was more thorough at the entrance to Russia than at the exit
Super! It was a funny case. There is a queue for departure, and one to the left ..... We got into it, moving little by little and cars are coming towards us))) we stood like this for 40 minutes, decided to see where we were going, came out - it turns out the meetings are those who turned around and the queue is moving because of them, who left. And the queue of cars! Nowhere to go, they turn around the corner and turn around!!! I'm asking the border guard what the hell! He replies that he punishes himself in a hurry. I felt like an oboochnik right away.
It is necessary to cross the border on foot. Even if you were traveling by car with a company or a family, everyone gets out of the car and walks. Only the driver will remain in the car. To pass, you need a passport, a birth certificate for children. They have a brief conversation with the children, ask how old they are and with whom they are traveling. There is an air conditioner in the room. It is better to pass early in the morning.
In principle, the work is well built. It is better to arrive either early or late to avoid traffic jams. During the day, in the season, you can stand for a couple of hours. The disadvantage is that they climb without queuing from the sides, and the customs officers do not follow this. Pedestrians usually pass faster than cars. There is, by the way, a dutik!) Abkhazian customs is generally passed in years, almost without stopping)
The customs is clear. Everything is fast and professional. If personal belongings are missed in the car immediately, but I did not observe any sloppiness. Suspicious persons were searched separately. A lot of attention is paid to people with children, children were politely asked what their names are, how old they are, so if you pass the border with children, do not forget to check so that you know their biography and all that... Have a nice stay in Abkhazia
After crossing the checkpoint, the road opens to the wonderful country of the soul - Abkhazia. Beautiful nature, subtropical climate, gentle sea and beautiful beaches, hospitable people, mountains, waterfalls, lakes, original national cuisine, coffee aroma on the Sukhumi embankment.
In the summer season, the queues are very large, it is better to drive on Russian numbers where 8, 9, 10 passes, documents are quickly checked there and, accordingly, the queue moves faster.
Thank you for your professional work, correct attitude and quick border crossing.Everything was organized without delay. A good checkpoint. The rating is excellent. I recommend.
We crossed the border quickly, no problem. If there is a small queue, then get in the one where there are no children. You can transfer one pack of Doughty Free cigarettes per adult across the border. If you go to Gagry, then a minibus ride will cost you 150 rubles per person. In Gagra, everything has been the same since the days of the Soviet Union. We went to the cafe to drink some water, the bill was brought for 1300 rubles. In addition to the milkshake and lemonade, two bottles of 0.5 liters of Sukhumi beer were taken. On the market, oranges are 30 rubles, Lemons are 40 rubles, Tangerines are from 30 to 60 rubles per kg.
Abkhazia. New Athos! A small green country in a sea of greenery and the freshest air! The mesmerizing waterfalls, the cell (cave) of Simon the Canonite, the New Athos Cave and many other decorations on the Black Sea coast leave the most vivid emotions! The food at the cafe at Adgur was the most unforgettable in this bright journey!
Abkhazia is a place where you want to relax - Gagra, Sukhumi, Lake Ritsa and much more! But the border is crossed here and quite quickly. On the left after the border there are already three dutifrey shops, duty-free goods, then on the left there is a bazaar, there are only fruits from Abkhazia. In my opinion, the return passage of the border is even faster, the inspection is minimal.
I got there both by bus and taxi
It takes about 10 minutes to walk
Documents are checked seriously at our border
In Abkhazia, they just see the passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation and calmly enter
It's a little more complicated by car
They introduced something like a green card there
A week about 1000 rubles
A very useful thing, because the avhaz themselves do not have insurance, from the word at all!
A new terminal is being built on the territory of Abkhazia
I hope it will be put into operation at 23
Most of all, when traveling to Abkhazia, they were afraid of going through customs, but as practice has shown, this is the easiest thing.
I visited Abkhazia in the evening after 22:00, there were few people, we spent at most 20 minutes on everything.
We drove back to Russia in the morning, everything was also fast and clear.
I was on the border with Abkhazia for the first time! However, they work quite smartly there! Well
and conveniently organized!Friendly and polite and, not least, with a sense of humor, the border guards met us!It would be like that everywhere! :-)
Everything is calm, without unnecessary questions. The border guards know their job, while remaining restrained and polite. Of the minuses, there are long queues when crossing by tourist groups
Everything is very good, everyone is friendly, everything is explained and the work is organized perfectly. There are no complaints. Any question is answered and helped. Well done!!!
On the Russian side, only 3 posts were working this time, they stood in line for 1.5 hours, plus Abkhazians walked without a queue. But the guys at the border wrapped them up very correctly, for which I thank them very much, well done. The only thing, comrades border guards, keep an eye on the filling of the checkpoint, open other posts, otherwise they stood and sweated
Of course there are queues, it is better to navigate after 12.00, because there are fewer sightseeing tours, it is better to go through the windows further away, and not into 1 place. If you are without children, it is better to get in line without children (they are questioned for a long time)
Of course, there is no cleanliness around the checkpoint, but everything is clean inside.
Oh, I didn't like the organization. The passengers are getting out, the car is going without you. The car drove by, and you're still standing for 2 hours. And if it's with children, then it's terrible. Someone is crying, acting up, screaming. Someone feels bad from the heat. Why can't we arrange for the car to drive up and then the passengers to get out? There are a lot of people. The queues are already from 6 am to 21:00 pm. It is the organization that suffers, in my opinion, and not even the number of people.
They passed through customs at different times of the year. There are queues, but not for long. The inspection of cars is loyal. The staff is polite, they will always tell you everything.
Surprisingly, and contrary to forecasts, they crossed the border in 15 minutes when they were traveling to Abkhazia, it took 30 minutes on the way back, but in general it was also fast, with children a little longer, they ask questions (what is the name of the parents, with whom they travel, the date of birth, for example, mothers)
Good afternoon, friends!
Checkpoint entrance to Abkhazia - we stood for 4 hours, slowly, a sea of cars, then asked passengers to get out, a separate car inspection, walked with a metal detector, did not look much, passengers in 35 degree heat in queues stand idle from an hour to 2. Slow passenger screening, 2 windows were working. From there, it's easier to get to Sochi, quickly without queues, it took a maximum of 30 minutes, about 6-8 windows worked, the car was also light-inspected. Children were asked their full name, date of birth, how old they are, adults are usually asked only their full name and date of birth!
Everything passed quickly enough, although the queue was not small. I crossed the border by car for the first time, so I asked questions about what and where, the staff answered politely and to the point. Important information: in Abkhazia, an excess of 9 km/ h is allowed, and not by 19 km / h as in Russia.

I don't even know what to say about the checkpoint)). It looks like some kind of a way station in the province, the interior is clearly not designed for the influx that was this year, it's a little cramped.
The checks from the Russian side are longer, more attentive (especially back when entering Russia), children are asked who is with them and what is their name. But no one seemed to have any problems, everyone works very politely. And the Abkhazian controllers only look at the passport, somehow briefly, and "welcome")). I didn't manage to visit duty free. When I arrived in Abkhazia, a person immediately appeared and took me by taxi to the address. I decided to save money back, we went on a transfer to the airport, and there was no way either - we had to cross the checkpoint in a group right away.
After you turn off Tavrichesky Street to the right, border guards will stop you in front of the gate and just look at the documents and the number of people in the car. Next, you enter the territory of the international automobile checkpoint itself and take a queue at any working gateway. There may be a lot of cars if you drive during the daytime, there may be a lot if you drive during the season and in the period from 8 a.m. to 22 p.m., or there may not be at all if you drive at 2 a.m. That's how lucky you are.
It was in September 2019 and 2021. I went through customs both times in the morning, around 8 a.m. local time. The whole process, along with the queue, took 5-10 minutes towards Abkhazia. In the direction of Russia in 2019, it took place by car, in the evening, around 17-18 local, for about an hour. In 2021, on foot, at 3 - 4 a.m., 10 minutes.
Feature: you will need to walk 300m with all your luggage in your hands across the border, between the Russian and Abkhazian checkpoints (if you do not want to carry luggage, then you go by car, the luggage remains in it, and you yourself, anyway, walk through the checkpoint and the border, but without luggage).
It is best to pass at night - it is faster this way. Documents are carefully checked from Russia to Abkhazia. Things are not checked. It's even easier to get out of Abkhazia. They didn't even ask the kid for his name.
They asked where to go, I answered to rest - the inspection was over and they waved a baton at me, do not linger while passing. We looked at the passports and compared the number of passports and the number of people in the car, according to my feelings. The situation is the same in the opposite direction, but they asked to open the doors, the trunk at the same time the customs officer did not even look inside the car, walked next to him and talked on the phone.
The place is interesting. We must always remember that the shift shift starts at 8-9 in the morning and there will be traffic jams. And from Abkhazia, their local traffic police are standing at the entrance to the border post, in an OFF-duty car. And since there is a TERRIBLE MARKING THAT MAKES them break, they normally get so hot there.
We were there on Monday evening. We passed the checkpoint from the Russian Federation in half an hour. Check - they asked to open all the doors of the car, the trunk. We just looked at it and that's it. On the side of Abkhazia, everything is even simpler - they didn't even get out of the car. This is to Abkhazia. In the opposite direction, it's almost the same, only they asked to show their passports. And on the Russian side, they again asked to open the doors and trunk.
Everything is simple and clear. It is better to cross the border in the late afternoon. (or were we just lucky) The cars are carefully inspected by our Russian border guards. They have enough work and are polite at the same time. The Abkhazians are friendly and have checked only the documents.
There is a market near the checkpoint, and dutifry is the cheapest, but they will not let you into Abkhazia with alcohol from there.
So enjoy your homemade wine and tea
The usual checkpoint, clean and tidy. Let in/let out, no more was needed.
The only thing is that it would be worth dividing the flows to the cabins with a fence, otherwise such passions sometimes boil. However, there is something to listen and watch while standing in line)
Oh, I constantly drove through it, the organization is stupid, a lot depends on who is standing at the "gate", a stupid functionary will come across, and the queue will move two or three times slower. Or - there is a queue in two tails, and the passport control booth is one, and you will stand and watch as the neighboring rows pass. And there is a place on the contrary, where there is one tail and two booths!, (it rarely happens lately). Another problem is the Abkhazian cars, customs is slow to issue temporary importation, you can get into a bunch of these cars and - you will not move in the ass or forward (sometimes people were late for the plane). Or impudent Abkhazians come across, they "drill" without waiting in line. In general, moving across the border by car very often leads to a significant loss of nerve cells
