The Church of the Virgin Mary in Bolshaya Rogoznica is a very unusual structure for the Eastern European region, which would be more typical for churches in the Baltic States or Scandinavia. At the same time, in 1926, a temple with features of constructivism and neo-Romanesque style was erected here, from crushed boulders collected from nearby village fields.
The church turned out to be unusual, although its shape was standard – rectangular. It's all about the majestic belfry. The temple was built according to the project of architect Romuald Gut for two years. The building was built from large crushed boulders of dark and pink colors, which were collected by local residents. The stones were carefully processed so that the walls were as smooth as possible.
During the Soviet era, the temple was not destroyed, but it was closed in 1956. And in 1989, this religious building was returned to Catholics and today it is one of the most original churches in the Grodno region.
