Visiting the Colosseum was like stepping straight into a history book – only with way more selfies and a bit less gladiatorial combat (thankfully). My wife and I recently had the chance to explore this ancient marvel, and let me tell you, it’s a must-see, even if you’re not a history buff. First off, let’s talk about the sheer size of this place. The Colosseum is HUGE! It’s insane to think it was built nearly 2,000 years ago without the help of cranes or modern tools. The ancient Romans must have had some serious muscle and engineering skills – like the Usain Bolts and Einsteins of their time. Walking through the arches, you can almost hear the echoes of the crowds cheering for the gladiators. We couldn’t help but imagine what it must have been like – the excitement, the dramas, and the occasional lion. Now, onto a few fun facts: Did you know the Colosseum could hold up to 50,000 spectators? That’s basically an ancient version of a packed Super Bowl stadium. And speaking of spectacles, they didn’t just have gladiators fighting. They also flooded the arena for mock naval battles. Seriously, the Romans knew how to put on a show! One of the highlights of our visit was the underground tour. Walking through the labyrinth of tunnels, we couldn't help but joke about what it must have been like for the gladiators gearing up for their "big day." It was a bit like a backstage pass to one of the greatest spectacles in history. My wife even quipped, "I bet they had their own version of pep talks down here. 'Go out there and give it your all... or else!'" The upper levels offered stunning views of Rome, and it’s easy to see why the Colosseum remains one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. From up there, we could spot the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill – talk about a view with some serious history! All in all, our Colosseum visit was an absolute blast. It’s a mix of awe-inspiring history, mind-blowing architecture, and just enough imagination to make you feel like you’re part of the ancient crowd. So, whether you’re into epic tales of gladiators or just want a cool spot for some amazing Instagram photos, the Colosseum is definitely worth a visit. Just remember to wear comfy shoes – those ancient stone steps are no joke! If you ever find yourself in Rome, bringing yourself to the Colosseum is non-negotiable. It's one of those places where history literally comes alive, even if you have to use a bit of humor and imagination to bring it fully into the 21st century.

The Colosseum is a majestic amphitheater built in Rome in the period from 72 to 80 AD. It was built on the site of the pond, which was located in the Golden House of Nero. This architectural monument of Ancient Rome has become one of the most recognizable and accommodates about 50 thousand spectators. The name "Colosseum" comes from the Latin word "colosseum", which means "huge". It is associated with the impressive size of the amphitheater. Some historians suggest that the name could have come from the temple of the Egyptian goddess Isis, which was located nearby. The history of the Colosseum dates back to 68 AD, when Emperor Nero committed suicide. This event led to a civil war, in which Vespasian won. After suppressing the Jewish uprising and collecting taxes, Vespasian decided to reconstruct the center of Rome and erase the memory of Nero. He filled up the lake and built an amphitheater in its place, which became a new landmark of the city.

The business card of modern Rome and the architectural evidence of the ancient Roman Empire! An absolutely stunning and priceless majestic monument of world history! There are usually a huge number of visitors. It is better to purchase tickets in advance and online! Nearby, on the square, you can easily find a Russian-speaking guide - everything is much more interesting and understandable with him.

The Colosseum is a structure that is almost 2000 years old, because it began to be built in the 70s of our era, it is to him that we owe modern sports stadiums where football players run after the ball, and do not fight with a sword, we must pay tribute to the Italians not only for being able to preserve this structure to the present day, but after all he also managed to visit the shopping center, an analogy with GUM and TSUM suggests itself, however, with other shopping centers, the Italians were able to turn the Colosseum, a place where gladiator fights were held, public zeroing of the population took place, feeding animals by Christians and other interesting things into a tourist Mecca, how is it to visit Italy and not look at the Colosseum?! ^_^ What in my opinion is even more important, for such a small country as Italy, tourism is an important source of income today, one has only to watch the fantastic film "Gladiator" in 2000, as there is a desire to look at the film "Teleport" in 2008, I will not list everything, I will only write that the films in which you can see the Colosseum are more 1000, "Hudson's Hawk" 1997, curiously, this structure practically does not appear in Russian cinema, which is easily understandable, because the Roman Empire once not only ruled in Europe, but also managed to settle on the island of England, and the British transferred its cultural heritage to another continent and to countries that colonized, and Russia is not one of them!)) But back to the Colosseum, to my surprise I learned that water battles were held there, among other things, I do not know how true this is, since I did not see the canal system, discharge and water supply, and it is not clear where the water came from and how it could be held! @ Of course, men are attracted primarily by the history of gladiatorial fights, which is easily understandable, well, if they are men, of course, including the construction and architectural component, I must say that this structure smells of a different time, yes, the Colosseum was restored, but today it is one of the oldest architectural monuments, after the Egyptian Pyramids built before our era, no matter how many attempts were made to disassemble them, it did not work out!))) It seems to me today that the whole of Italy looks like a museum in which you can see the past, however, not only Italy, but so many old buildings that have survived to this day are difficult to find anywhere else, except for the amphitheaters in Greece, the forerunner of the Colosseum, but there they are not in such a good, well-maintained condition, sometimes a mystery to me Probably financially, why don't they restore pyramids or other monuments of antiquity, it turns out that they restore what can still be restored, and not what remains of 3 columns! ^_^ The Colosseum today is one of those places where you can come into contact with history, make a small trip through time, but you are unlikely to get inside, as well as touch it, most likely, unless you are of course the hero of the movie "Teleport" or perhaps you know workarounds, however, for residents of countries speaking the languages of what happened from Latin, all this is not so important, since they consider themselves descendants of descendants, and the history of the Roman Empire is the history of their ancestors, for everyone else the Colosseum is rather a part of someone else's cultural heritage popularized with the help of cinema for the twentieth century!

The Colosseum in Rome is one of the most impressive and recognizable buildings in the world. It impresses with its grandeur and grandeur, causing admiration from every visitor. The construction of the Colosseum began in 72 AD under Emperor Vespasian and was completed in 80 AD by Emperor Titus. The pulpit was built in the shape of an ellipse with a length of 188 meters and a width of 156 meters. The height of the structure reached 50 meters, and the capacity was about 50,000 people. In ancient times, the Colosseum served as a venue for gladiatorial fights, naval battles and other spectacular events. Gladiators fought here, hunts for wild animals were organized, and naval battles were also held.Today, the Colosseum is one of Rome's main tourist attractions. It is open to the public, and anyone can walk through its corridors, imagine themselves as a spectator of a gladiatorial combat or a participant in a naval battle.A visit to the Colosseum leaves an indelible impression. It is not just an architectural monument, it is a living witness of history, allowing you to plunge into the atmosphere of Ancient Rome and feel its greatness.

To take a ticket in advance via the Internet, from the office.the site, together with the Roman Forum. Children are free. After passing the first inspectors, free tickets for children will be issued inside at the ticket office. Or take a Form at the checkout (there are fewer queues there) Keep in mind that the Forum starts closing facilities before 17:00, at 16:30. The Museum is generally on the territory of the Forum until 15:00. The Colosseum is impressive, but a lot is no longer original - reported later. The forum leaves more impressions for some reason, and there is a place to take a walk and see the city from there. People are dispersed throughout the territory - there is no pandemonium, as in the Colosseum.

There are a lot of people. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Along with a visit to the Colosseum, take another Forum. By the way, the forum is much more interesting. It is best to visit such places with a guide. Morning is the best time to visit. The most convenient way to get there is by metro. Termini stop. And so: a colossal structure with a thousand-year history. The scale is certainly amazing.

It is better to buy tickets online. Coopculture.it Please note that there are different categories. In the Colosseum, there is an additional entrance to the "arena stage" and something else. The ticket is also shared with the Roman Forums. In them, if you take a Super Pass, you can go inside all the places. The Colosseum is entered by time and then move according to the scheme inside. You can also take a group tour without queuing, for example, buy a Tripster with an excursion. In the Roman forums, you will also be taken there without waiting in line. When buying through the site, you must specify your name - at the entrance they ask for a document / license / bank card will do. This is so that there are no overbought schemes when buying.

No reviews will affect the Colosseum in any way, you need to come and contemplate. Another thing is that it is not easy to get inside, there are two options - a live queue for many hours or take care of electronic tickets in advance. On the spot, you can also solve the issue of visiting by buying a tour package with a ticket from a private guide, there are many Russian-speaking guides

It's even funny to write a review of the Colosseum, of course, you have to go, of course, at least 1 time inside. What struck me the most was that it was just inside the city, streets, roads, metro, bus stop, Colosseum. But now everything in Rome is under repair, they are preparing for the anniversary.

In my youth, I dreamed of getting here, touching it with my hands) Grandiose! The best way to hire a guide, there are enough Russian speakers right on the street, like 59 euros per person. There are no audio guides in Russian. There are many historical places of interest nearby. Admission is 16 euros. There are problems with tickets. It is better not to visit in the summer! There is drinking water on the floors, the speakers are free. I don't regret it!
