It seems to be slightly smaller than its "sister" in Andijan, but unlike Andijan, it has been preserved entirely, and therefore looks larger - only the eastern (left) side of the courtyard is now occupied by a bakery. The minaret, as in Andijan, stands in the middle of the courtyard, and its height is 23 meters The Juma mosque was built in the first half of the 19th century, and it was founded in 1806 by the terrible Alimkhan, the conqueror of Tashkent, but only the local clergy refused to participate in the construction with money taken from the people by force. Soon there was a palace coup, but the kind-and-wise (but no less belligerent) Umarkhan completed the construction only in 1814-18. The minaret was built in 1852 More than 200 craftsmen worked on the main mosque of the Kokand Khanate, and the artel usto from Ura-Tube (Istaravshan) was headed. Therefore, it is no wonder that the main attraction of the Jami Mosque is the painted ceilings, which are not found in the homeland of the creators Jami has a typical Central Asian device - a small hall, relative to the courtyard. But in absolute terms, its hall is larger than that of many churches in Russia. Near the western ivan, we were caught by a caretaker who hardly speaks Russian with a notebook, and I was afraid that here they would want to get a review from us... but fortunately, they only wanted money from us for the ticket. The mosque now has a museum with full-fledged exhibition halls
