The temple of Athena Nika stands on a small plateau. Previously, the rock in this place was fortified with a powerful watchtower, from where the enemy was driven away and war trophies were stored. The Greeks worshipped a special deity, Nika, a large-winged goddess who flew. The temple is made of white marble. It was built on a place of worship in 424 BC. The temple was destroyed by the Turks in 1687 and rebuilt in 1835. The height of the columns is 4 meters. According to legend, Aegeus threw himself into the sea from this place, which is why it is called the Aegean. Copies of the sculptures are installed on the temple, the originals are in the British Museum.
