They underwent bone marrow transplantation with their son at the Hadassah Clinic in Jerusalem.
A wonderful clinic with excellent, attentive staff and a professional team of competent, experienced specialists. The attending doctor is always in touch, sensitive, attentive and caring. The Health Plus company helped throughout the stay at the clinic.
I've always had annual checkups every spring, keeping an eye on my health. But in 2021, several tragic events happened at once: my mother was struggling with the severe consequences of covid, and my friend died of cancer. This prompted me to undergo a second diagnosis in the fall, despite the fact that the spring checkup had already been completed. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in the fall. If I had postponed the re-check until next spring, I probably wouldn't be alive right now.
In Russia, I was immediately offered surgery to remove the tumor, but I decided to get a second medical opinion. This was made possible by the insurance against serious illnesses, which I had arranged in advance. I was consulted by a leading breast cancer specialist at the Hadassah Clinic, Professor Kaduri, who recommended that I first undergo chemotherapy and then undergo surgery. After this conversation, I canceled my scheduled surgery in Russia.
I had previously visited Israel as a tourist, but this time I found myself here in a completely different emotional state. I felt great support from the very first minutes: I was met at the airport by representatives of Health Plus WMA— the international marketing service of the Hadassah Clinic. I had to return to Russia quickly, as my mother remained in serious condition. Together with the necessary medications that I received in Hadassah, I went home.
Thanks to the premedication that Israeli doctors picked up for me, I underwent chemotherapy much more easily than patients who were treated in Russian clinics. At the end of the course, I underwent an ultrasound in Russia, where the doctors said that the tumor remained. However, Hadassah repeated the study and found out that it was necrotic tissue, not a tumor. This is a confirmation of the high level of diagnosis in Hadassah.
When my mother's condition improved, I returned to Israel for the second stage of treatment, an operation to remove a breast tumor. In the operating room, the nurse asked me where I was from, and it turned out that she was also from Yaroslavl and studied at the same school as my daughter. We burst into tears and hugged. It was an incredibly touching moment. I was operated on by Professor Tamir Elvais, one of the best surgeons in Israel specializing in the treatment of breast cancer. Despite the language barrier, her kindness and confidence helped me feel safe. There was even Russian music playing in the operating room. The day after the operation, I met up with friends from London and was able to go to a restaurant with them. I tried to maintain an active lifestyle during the treatment: I walked by the sea, went on excursions and even visited the zoo.
After the operation, Professor Kaduri prescribed me a course of radiation therapy. After 10 procedures, I finally heard the most welcome words from Nemirovsky's radiotherapist, Hadassah's leading oncologist: "You're healthy!"
It wasn't an easy path. The most physically difficult was the last course of chemotherapy, the so–called "white". But morally, of course, the trials were no less serious. When I returned home, for some time I was afraid of a recurrence of cancer, but then this fear went away. Now, if people come to me with similar diagnoses, I try to support them. I know that even patients with stage four cancer can recover. The main thing is to fight. After the treatment, my life changed completely. I've reviewed my values: why work non-stop for another vacation? I chose a different life — in a new country by the sea.
I would like to express my deep gratitude to the doctors of the Hadassah Clinic in Jerusalem: Professor Kaduri, Professor Elwayes, Dr. Nemirovsky — they saved my life. Special thanks to Galina and Polina, representatives of Health Plus WMA, for their support, without which it would have been difficult for me to walk this path.
