Cologne Cathedral is one of the most important places of Christianity. The gifts of the Magi are kept in the cathedral. The structure is huge. Gothic. The beauty is indescribable. In the very center of Cologne. Very high ceilings. The windows are decorated with themed panels. We climbed the tower. On foot. I was sweating while climbing the steep stairs. The legend of the Cologne Cathedral says that the first architect of the cathedral, Master Gerhard, could not make drawings of the future structure in any way, so he decided to call the devil himself for help. He came and offered a deal: there would be drawings, but in return he would have to give his soul. The architect agreed.
The cathedral is under construction, and Gerhard writes a receipt in blood: they say, I give my soul, as agreed. He attached a piece of the miraculous tree to the piece of paper. This should have reset the deal. The devil appeared and said: the papers have no legal force, and only human life is at stake. As a result, the devil decides to take revenge for the attempt at deception. His punishment is severe: Cologne Cathedral will never be completed, and the name of the architect will be forgotten. After that, the unfortunate architect falls from the scaffolding and crashes.
