In the south of Egypt, there is the ancient city of Luxor, an open-air museum city. The oldest place of Civilization on the planet, it was founded in 2051 BC! The city of pharaohs and kings . This charming city is located right on the banks of the great river Nile and divides it into the "city of the living", where the sun rises and the "city of the dead", where it sets. The Egyptians used to call this city "Ouaset". The Greeks called it "Thebes of the gate." The famous Karnak Temple dates back to about 2055 BC and about 100 AD. To this day, it is considered the largest religious temple complex ever built in the world!. It has been developing for 1,500 years, complemented by thirty generations of pharaohs, resulting in a collection of temples, sanctuaries, pylons and other decorations that is unparalleled in all of Egypt! It is on the UNESCO list of protected monuments. The temple contains three parts, one of which is dedicated to Amun-Ra, the other to his wife, Queen Mut, and the third to their son Honus, who was considered a lunar deity. More than eighty thousand servants and slaves were assigned to serve Amun-Ra in Karnak., The stunning hypostyle hall accommodates 134 columns in the form of papyrus, 12 of which represent an open papyrus flower at the top. The diameter of the giant flower-shaped capitals is 5.4 meters and can accommodate 100 people! The height of these painted columns is 20 meters! All these columns are arranged in 16 rows and cover an area of 4,883 square meters! It takes your breath away being here! The grandeur and preserved colors of the paints in this complex are amazing!
