The place is gorgeous, very beautiful.
But the organization is a disaster!
Be careful, children under 120 cm are NOT allowed! They sell tickets at the box office, but you can go to the canyon itself!
We have a baby, they looked at the stroller at the checkout, asked the age, we clarified if there were any problems?
They said no, everything is OK, they sold the tickets. After walking along the path in the woods to the entrance - no, you can't take children up to 120 cm, period.
And I don't care that the child has an ergoryukzak, he is strapped in and all this is my responsibility, I understand where I am going and what can happen
You ask why they didn't tell you right away - they offer to go swear at the checkout (and walk along the forest for 50 minutes in one direction), I'm sure on the other hand they would offer to go swear at the entrance.
On the offer to return the money - no, there are no refunds!
It's still good when you have the opportunity to go with someone in turn.
❗️by car on a beautiful paved road, you can also get to the entrance to the canyon
At the ticket office, which is next to the entrance to the canyon - there is no cash payment, only by card. At the cash desk, which is in the village, you can also pay in cash
Beautiful, expensive, the organization left an unpleasant aftertaste
You need to buy a ticket at the Business Center, it costs 20 lari per person. You can pay with both a card and cash. You will not be allowed to enter the canyon without a ticket.
Then there is a choice: walk, drive with bombs in a jeep, drive in your own car.
We chose bombed, but we could have driven ourselves.
Walking is normal for people in good shoes and in good physical shape. It's a 40-minute walk to the canyon, and a little longer back, because it's uphill. There are many stairs on the canyon itself, but if you are not in a hurry, then it will be comfortable at your own pace.
If you go with bombs, then it will save you a lot of time and nerves. But not money, they start offering a price from GEL 120, but you can bargain up to 50. Do not hesitate to bargain, they are not shy about earning money from you. They only accept cash. To prove that the road is difficult, they will take you through the forest and potholes, it will resemble a strange safari. The driver will take you to the place, wait as long as necessary and pick you up at the entrance.
By car: if you go back a little lower from the visitor center there is an asphalt road to the canyon. They say it is an ordinary mountain, it is suitable even for a prius. There are very narrow areas and streamers, be careful.
We were in a rented car and decided not to take any chances. We found a couple of guys and drove with a driver for GEL 50 per couple.
The canyon itself is very beautiful. The iron "path" along which you walk is held directly behind the rock by cables, and above the canyon itself it is "transparent". I'm not afraid of heights, but even I felt a little bit inside.
Very. A lot. A ladder. It was very difficult for me to get up, but I am a completely unprepared person with sore knees. But it was worth it.
We visited Okatse Canyon immediately after its modernization. On the plus side: amazing views, cool trail, security everywhere.
Among the disadvantages: tickets can be purchased directly at the entrance to the canyon ONLY by cashless payment. We still haven't figured out where the cash register is, where you can buy with cash. However, there are taxi drivers nearby who are ready to bring them to this cash register for a reward
