The pearl of culinary Istanbul, where the direct descendants of the man who invented Iskender kebab in the 19th century cook exactly as their ancestor intended. The place is unique, which is simply necessary to visit both from a gastronomic and cultural-historical point of view. Of course, the establishment may seem very simple - exactly one dish is prepared and served there, and the interior is not striking in luxury. Nevertheless, it is here that you can try the perfect Iskender, as it was conceived and which has firmly entered the Turkish cuisine, becoming the progenitor of a myriad of imitations that have spread all over the planet.
A very cool one-course restaurant is Iskander. This is baked lamb with vegetables, sour cream and local flatbread. It is unexpectedly delicious, and goes well with ayran, which is immediately offered. There is also a very cool grilled eggplant salad, I do not remember what it is called, I attach a photo of it. In general, I recommend it!
